i wanna watch this for jung hae in but i know the mother is gonna ruin it for me in like go ahead but i atleast…
i agree, the mother is suuuuuper insufferable so i usually just fast forward her parts since they're so predictable anyway. and i can tell you that it does not make a diff to fast forward her parts lol it will make the drama more enjoyable.
i found the first episode hard to watch on that i dropped it after 30 mins... especially the scene making the ML like Buddha bc he is so angelic >< but i love kim young dae and really want to watch on to see the romance arc, can someone tell me that it somehow gets better lol
(1) how did the FL obtain the picture evidence of the molester in the final ep? by right she should not be able to retain/bring with her or anyone leave behind any tangible footprint into the next time loop (only the two leads' memories follow them, the material reality is reset with each loop)...
(2) why didn't ludi get sucked into the time loop? he also got off the bus before the explosion just like how the FL dragged the ML off the bus
(3) why did the ML's health deteriorate in the 3rd/2nd last time loop? some mentioned that since time was not brought forward, it took a toll on his health somehow - probably linked to his mental state and sleep paralysis - but why then is the FL spared from it and what even is the point of introducing this plot device (his sickness doesn't seem to add value to the plot)
who else is upset that the xiaodong and linlin romance came up to nothing though?? the writer did us dirty, baiting us with smth only for nth to come out of it T.T
I find that each time the FL does something so wrong towards the ML that it completely justifies him leaving her,…
to each his own, but i feel that each time she screws up and apologizes, she does grow from it, and the ML also learns to be more vulnerable and love deeper from each time she leaves him (ironically lol). he used to be so closed up bc of the lack of love from his parents and how he shd behave as part of his career so she really did a lot to soften his heart and live without regrets.
especially in the second one when she was going back to shanghai without telling him - he chose to make her think hard about her actions and what kind of life she really wants (while still deciding not to break up with her), which eventually led to their reconciliation. he even said that he did not want to make the same mistake as he did with his mom - to let her go have her freedom while he silently suffered hurt deep down for her sake. in the last one, they both went back to each other because they realize they really do well together - not because he was manipulated into feeling that way bc of the false alarm abt her death. i did feel at first she was too carefree and frivolous for him, but when i rewatched it i noticed her growth and her genuine love for him, coupled with his growing courage to love as well!! their personalities really complement each other :') haha
holy shit i just finished this drama and it's easily the best mainland Chinese drama i've watched so far... amazing way of handling complex themes and of course crazy good chemistry between the main leads ;_____; i can't get over this drama help
omg the main couple T.T i felt the initial part of their relationship was pretty toxic bc he literally dumped her by giving her the cold shoulder (and lied about many things to hurt her so she'll give up on him) after her mom disapproved of him, but she still made excuses for his behaviour... while he had good intentions for her and his background (of lacking proper parental guidance and never being in a relationship before) is reflected in it, it doesn't condone how terrible he was... sigh. nevertheless the silver lining is that he truly cares for her and works hard to please her thereafter.
also can we talk about their first date where he bought her PS4 games as a gift when she doesn't even play them?? i thought that was quite self absorbed (bc video games are things he likes, not her - even though he made it a bit romantic by saying she can use it as an excuse to talk to him and learn from him) and what made it worse was that she happily accepted it by basically saying "ok whatever you like, i'll like it too!!" girl i hope your sense of identity remains in this relationship... i mean sure he did offer to get her clothes and shoes after that which she rejected but seriously all the red flags in the first part of their relationship T.T i get that the FL has to take the lead bc the ML lacks such human interaction skills but i hope the ML grows to be more discerning....
honestly just watching on bc the FL's persistence and pureness in the way she loves the ML is pretty endearing (although can get toxic if he takes it for granted and doesn't care for her needs) and li xian is so dashingly handsome LOL
can someone tell me exactly what kwon do hoon's role is (the guy who kinda stalked seokyung in college days)? he hated them then for being tgt despite having their differences (while he on the other hand couldnt get seokyung), then when he sees the ML again years later as an adult, still despises him (for being an incompatible partner to seokyung?). what exactly is his role in this drama other than being the person who saved seokyung from the fire and is still obsessed with her?
I'll try to answer some of these questions: 😊1. It wasn't Dohee who walked away, but Guwon was the one who…
thanks for ur reply! 1. Guwon disappeared from her sight yep but she also decided to distance herself. yea it went both ways i guess because seeing what he does in person can be so terrifying! 2. i guess it does make her feel better that those ppl gg to hell "deserve" it, but then again who are we mere mortals to play god and judge people hmmmm so i guess I'd be more convinced that Guwon's job is just part of God's plan for judgment 3. while reincarnation is a common trope in romantic fantasy dramas, it is inherently fallacious (and most that i've watched do not involve christianity/catholicism at all)... i still think the writers should avoid doing this lol 5. I thought that would happen too, because there was a scene in the last ep whereby Guwon was reading his manual and said a demon without powers is no diff from a human or something like that. but in the end, he still has his powers and immortality T.T 6. i like this explanation! i guess we can't undo the impact experiences and relationships have on us, but he shd at least stop feeling emotions towards ppl from then on?
I'd rate this 8/10 because it was exciting to watch all the way but there are so many loopholes!! Leaving all the loopholes i can't get over here, feel free to respond to any if you have any satisfying explanations lol:
1. When Do hee witnessed Gu won doing his 'deal making' for the first time, she went into grave shock (bc he was very merciless to the victim) and distanced herself from him (tgt with the discovery that he also made a deal with her dad) - erm she alr knew that he makes deals to survive, so why so shocked all of a sudden lol.
2. Gu won continues to live as a demon but only does deals with scumbags (whom he deems deserve to go to hell) - does this not make Do hee uncomfortable lol your husband is sending ppl to hell... how is that diff from her shock in (1) lol...
3. Confusing portrayal of religions in the drama - if you're gonna adopt the Catholic worldview then there shouldn't be reincarnation (as in how the 2 main leads knew each other from their past lives). also the Catholic God is not a mere observer with no emotions (as portrayed in this drama) but one with compassion and emotions...
4. How is it that a demon seeks help from God (whom he rebelled against and shd be in constant hostility towards) and even have a friendly relationship (as seen from the ending where Gu won tells god that she shd hire him as her helper, and he also thanks her for rescuing him from eternal destruction).
5. Gu won perished because he brought a human back to life (according to the manual, a demon perishes if he does that or kills a human) - he recited Philippians 4:13 ("I can do all things through Him who gives me strength"), showing his faith in God - shouldn't this remove his demon status lol and make him human or go to heaven? lol
6. A demon does not have emotions, they just keep making deals - they make this clear in the first few eps. However Gu won has all the emotions a human has when he meets Do hee - at first this was because he was losing his powers as his tattoo got transferred to Do hee, and he started becoming more 'human'. However, after he got back his tattoo, his emotions lingered?? doesnt make sense
It took me a while to write this review because, first, I already miss them so much—it feels like I've lost…
my exact thoughts!! moreover in the 2nd or 3rd last ep we see Do hee being so shocked and devastated when she witnessed Gu won doing one of his deals so mercilessly - and yet now she is ok to live on with the fact that he is still doing that every night (albeit this time only making deals with scumbags but still) lol. i was hoping they'd just make him a human after violating all the rules as a demon (moreover he still has emotions and feelings like humans do - contrary to when it was explained in the first few eps that demons don't feel anything, and Gu won only started feeling things when he lost his tattoo). so many loopholes but ok it was still a good watch, closing one eye and letting it go lol
This was good except for the last episode? Like what was that??? The build up was so nice and then episode six…
i believe her when she says she didn't break up with him bc he was poor, but because they BOTH were poor and not getting anywhere + he is too much of an idealist to not be able to be sensitive to her needs (her head was looking down to the ground all the time while he was dreaming of building his own company). but then again, it's just a mini drama, i let it go hahahaha
