Ah yes. How could I forget? My favourite.

1 guy trolling everyone on whether he’s a guy or a girl because his stance changes every morning he wakes up
(will also be sporting rainbow dyed hair)

(oops.. am I not politically correct enough?)

uhh I need Lee Jong Suk to move awaay from courtroom drama, he’s been near more than enough courts in his dramas.

I don’t think I want to see Ga Young in one either.

Maybe I’m just feeling the courtroom fatigue. But if you are doing a law drama, please cast actors with natural gravitas or intimidating auras or something.

This casting gives romcom feels instead. Romcom + law is… run of the mill done. Especially for this casting choice…

There will also be:

1 token self-righteous black woman, might even be the “blonde”

1 token gay dude best friend, probably even Kim Jung Hyun’s character

1 token Filipino/Chinese/maybe Korean to fill the ‘Asian’ space. Probably the ever needed tech nerd guy

1 Indian looking guy with either an embarrassing accent or mild antagonistic role

1 trip to Taco Bell, the counterpart of the Subway PPL, because it’s set in Mexico/Latin America

1 hour monologue on how the main leads are tragically separated by “Trump’s walled border policy” because “illegal immigrants should be welcome”

1 gratuitous sex scene per episode. Because the American public can never be satisfied when it comes to their nudity fetish. (It will also correspondingly be nothing akin to “love”making)

1 prayer at the church scene or mosque scene or both why not and 1 Aztec Temple— wait nope, that’ll just serve as the backdrop for a funky gunfight scene, destroying the ancient remains (also the temple will not actually belong to the country in which they are supposedly located at)

1 random protest scene (who knows what they’re protesting for anyway)

About 10 political speeches or characters raving about their political views per 3 episodes

1 used cigarette tossed aside per 5 minute

1 “FUCK” “SHIT” “🖕” “SON OF A BITCH” “FUGLY SLUT” etc per 1/2 minute

1 Bag of drugs snorted per episode

1 Gross makeout session per 10 minutes, where they try to eat or bite each others head off like a pair of hangry zombies

Have I covered everything yet? Probably not—

Disclaimer:
(I’m not a fan of Trump. I’m not a fan of either political party in America. They both equally suck. Trump is just the overused ‘Russians are evil’ silly gimmick equivalent in American politics).

There's no American equivalent to any aspect. No charm, no romance, no actors, no comedy. They won't be able to…
😂😂

For real, it’s already a bad idea and they are inevitably going to fuck it up. Even if they get some popular or likeable hot actors to sell it to gullible audiences.

I’m already imagining a copious amount of leftist & political propaganda and “inclusive cast” and cheap sex scenes to attract its ever porn thirsty audiences.

I kind of want to tell the Koreans and Studio Dragon to 🏃🏻‍♂️ the other way. Don’t get involved. Don’t even sell your rights.

On Love Alarm Season 2 Oct 4, 2024
The colour grading, the laborious pacing, the blatantly forced melo when all of it can be solved in a 2 minute honest fucking conversation, have I mentioned the colour scheme?

Also not to mention this “sequel” pretends the first one doesn’t exist. It’s not just the poor transition scene.

Character development is either non-existent or forced or unbelievable.

Have I mentioned the filmography and depressing colour scheme?!?

Also super dangerous messages for what started out as a cheesy teen audience oriented romcom.

Hye Young- a creepy stalker who acts like an obsessive doormat ready to hover around his crush for the end of eternity until she is guilt tripped into reciprocating his feelings. Is also a terrible communicator/ not open about his feelings and has an inferiority complex
Duk Gu- another guy who can’t back off when the object of his affections (he is shallow af too because he also only likes Gul Mi for her beauty) is clearly uncomfortable with him. He is also the creator of a toxic af privacy intruding dangerous app.
JoJo- a selfish fickle woman with perpetual victim mentality (whose fans use her childhood trauma as an excuse to justify her behaviour) who is a pathological liar, worst ever communicator and player / cheater / betrayer who only cares about her own feelings at the cost of hurting, traumatising other people
Gul Mi- a shallow bully but one who atleast owns the fact that she’s a bitch?
Sun Oh- a plot device / ratings device in S2 who is used to drag the viewers into a cheap guessing game & ship war of “who will the leading lady choose”. With fans of his character / actor hanging on to simply see if his, quote ‘stolen smile’ will be returned or if he will ever find the much needed closure he seeked to move on from the past he is stuck in? Spoilers. He doesn’t. Though there’s the a semblance of a bandaid/happy ending slapped on at the end. Unconvincing as it is.
Yuk Jo- girl needs to move on and not be used as the second lead’s consolation price. Don’t settle yourself to be a second choice. Don’t stay hung up on a guy who isn’t in love with you.

The sci-fi aspect: convoluted and used as a plot device by lazy writers for a stale love triangle. Amazing potential, totally ignored. Unsure if they even send the right message about it. It does seem to say the app is bad, but also the characters keep relying on it until the end. (The FL literally needs it to tell her how she feels lol). The app continues to stay in their lives. The anti-love-alarm protest group plotline is ignored. The crimes using love alarm are used as background news headlines but again, totally not followed up on.

Furthermore, the show still goes out of its way to sell the main lead’s romantic happy ending by using, of all things, the damn toxic previously-claimed-unreliable app — (shows a montage of when the FL would’ve rung ML’s alarm if she hadn’t had the shield. Shows her ringing his alarm at the end as a way to portray to the audience the requited love happy ending. Conveniently does not show when she would’ve still rung the SML’s alarm post shield. SML and SFL’s future “happy ending” hedges on him being eventually able to ring her alarm. This is also the same dumb app that has SML’s cheating sociopathic father ringing his sociopathic wife’s alarm. Not to mention perverts/rapists/stalkers that have rung their victims alarms).

End Thoughts:

You can still decide to go ahead and watch this show if you would like to see for yourself if it’s as bad as everyone says. Form your own opinions. It may even be your cup of tea.

Just don’t use this messy (dug out from the dark holes of Wattpad) script as good advice for real life. None of the characters are fleshed out or organic enough for that.

Aha, I’m back here after 2 years. And I’m sorry I ever tried to defend this soul sucking drama😂

I don’t know how I ever sat through this dull coloured drama, but I do remember skipping/2x-ing even back then.

They wanted to go for “maturity” “melo” vibes, but neither the cast nor the shallow script/webtoon nor the director was ready for it lol.

Title Love Alarm
if any one ever meet people like sun oh and jo jo, run the other way as fast as possible.
imo even Hye Young has a lot of red flags and is a frustrating character

He just looks a lot better because the show either romanticises it in such a way or because the other leads are more of a mess than him

The only non-problematic character was probably Yuk Jo.

Title Time
If you ever doubt how much an actor can bring a character to life or hold a plot together, then this would be a good example to start.

I went into this morbidly curious about how the cast acted having heard of the behind the scenes issues and since the actor had got his career back quickly and I quite liked his acting… I gave this a try.

I think, even if a healthy sane person were to be acting this character in this drama out, atleast to the level that KJH did, it would take a toll on their mental health, because its certainly not an easy watch for even viewers.

I never cry watching kdramas. I’m more likely to get upset or mad if a character I like dies or is unfairly treated. But watching this was absolutely draining. You feel the characters’ depression yourself.

I think the actor was channeling all of the shit he was going through in his real life at the time into his character. So it was in some essence, like watching a real person suffering, rather than a character’s.

His premature departure did throw off the script and writers a little. But it was also good to see the after-story rather than if he’d just died at the end. The lack of romance or skinship or whatever also suited their characters imo, even if it left us wanting.

I have no comments to make on the behind the scenes drama. They’re all humans and there’s not been any despicable crimes. Just personal lives blowing over into public.

If you need a good old melo with no happiness, come cry at this🤝

Even though I am loathe to defend anything starring Park Yoo Chun…

This drama was released slightly before Queen In Hyun’s man. So you can’t really accuse it of plagiarism or being a copy cat.

Kdrama writers tend to release similar concept or similar genre dramas all around the same time. I swear they all sit around in a room, drinking makgeolli or sipping on jjamppong discuss this stuff; like okay, you’re writing a time-travel plot? Cool I’ll dig out mine too, wanna bounce ideas? Oh are we doing robots and AI romance now? Time to get aboard the trending train.

Also I’ll have to give Rooftop Prince’s guy villain a special mention for unintentionally being the most hilarious villain of his time. Was it the Viki live comments that made it all the funnier?

Oh she’s good too! I’m actually trying to get myself to watch Atypical Family JUST for the child cast on there.

I quite liked Si Ah in Silent Sea, but loved her in her short stint also in19th life. She gave off that mysterious too old soul vibe that immediately made me immerse into the plot setting.

So Yi is still quite young though. Much younger than Si Ah. So, hopefully there isn’t too much of a spotlight or pressure on her and the adults around her let her grow up naturally.

Among the young adult child actresses that aren’t on any main drama roles yet, I love Kim Hwan Hee.

I would love to see another series like healer. She showcased such talent in that series from her crying scenes,…
Yeah, she really needs to step out of that manufactured chemistry romance bubble she’s hid herself in. It makes her portrayal of her roles very clinical. Like you know she’s practiced this a dozen times over and knows exactly what to do in so and so situation but none of it comes from sincerity or a passion for acting. It’s like the daily soaps day job actors, who are just there to earn a living.

You see her in one role, you might be impressed. But then you soon realise it’s the same repeated pattern in every role.

But because she is capable of emoting in her niche, I would love to see her outside of her comfort zone.

Also someone needs to tell her that she’s plenty pretty. It’s OK to look ugly sometimes as an actor. The what I suspect is eating disorder and weight dysphoria is what is ruining her natural beauty. Even if she’s a plump ahjumma she’ll look cute!

Today the remake ended, and I am here to say, this one was gold. Thank you for this, and stay away from the remake.…
It was butchered the moment someone (cough Netflix) saw this drama and decided, aha! here’s something we can milk with a fucking sequel/spin off.

Stahp. ✋🛑

This original drama’s success was very heavily dependent on the casting of its main leads and their natural adorable chemistry.

Absolutely hate this trend/culture being forcefully exported into Kdramas.
