how many of you still traumatised to watch Kim so hyun's dramas because of this one shitty drama?or is it only…
Probably best to check out behind the scenes and stuff when a character traumatises you enough to not want to see their actor ?

Because they’re not their characters and casts usually get along well on set, different from their on screen dynamics.

Kim So Hyun is quite bubbly and mature unlike her character.

Na Bi is very much a red flag of her own. Let’s just leave the diluted overused term “toxic” aside and consider…
I never said Jae Eon isn’t a hoe ? Or fucked up?

I didn’t even defend him lol.

The story is about Nabi and her choices. Not Jae Eon or his. We barely even know anything about the dude by the end of drama. Like why he was so creepily obsessed with butterflies.

What I’m saying is. That Nabi is aware of what kind of person Jae Eon is. Her internal monologues are all about he’s bad news for her but she can’t help be attracted to him.

She has her agency and her choices are hers. No one is making her do things. And I dislike the idea that people put forth that women are helpless victims who can’t make decisions for themselves. We own our choices and decisions.

If you see a dude make out with another woman. And then you make out with him immediately after and this is the first time you’re ever kissing him? That is definitely your decision. You decided to give in to your lust for this guy rather than be grossed out by him. You prioritised your lust or need to claim him over your anger or your brain screaming you that he is bad news.

Nabi wasn’t particularly naive. This wasn’t her first relationship either. She just got out of relationship with one of the creepiest perverts on Earth. She repeatedly compared her ex to Jae Eon. And she heard enough unflattering rumours and warnings about Jae Eon from people around her. She was actively looking to distract herself with other guys. And she got pissed off at Jae Eon multiple times. She’s even grown up seeing her mom’s revolving door of relationships. So she’s far from being naive goodness.

It’s the fact that she knows (that’s the drama’s title!!!) and ignores or fights against her brain anyway and decides to latch onto this guy, even knowing that’s it’s not going to end well.

I guess it’s like people being icky about old immortals x human romances?

Though, it’s not really the same here, because she’s reliving youth and the process of growing up everytime and just happens to remember past lives.

But maybe OP felt uncomfortable with how their first encounter started? She left quite the imprint on him then. When she was physically older than him and also mentally, plus was there in tutor capacity, and he’d just been a kid.

And then as adults, even though she’s now physically much younger, he acts younger than her, acts younger than his age even.

Anyway, I think both leads were miscast for these roles and handed a not great script to boot. I love both actors in other dramas, but they just didn’t hit here. So their lack of chemistry might be making it more awkward than it actually is.

Why you need the feel to bring up African Chinese relations in here?

Got nothing to do with American treatment of Afros or Koreans.

If it is because you think an African person could’ve actually realistically been part of the royal court in Joseon era (my example), then you are far fetching.

And the American government is STILL colonising multiple African nations to this day. They just do it in different non-direct ways whilst pretending to care about black people in their media.

>_<

I did not claim whatever you’re implying.

“White people” are always added as the main titular characters of these shallow American shows. The MC in question will never be a non-European roots actor.

Because, they still consider themselves superior.

It is only around them that they will have “token” XYZ characters that have no personality but have a huge focus on their XYZ “diversity trait”. Usually in a very very stereotypical way. Which is not flattering.

And you know what they will still miss?

NATIVE AMERICAN. Representation for the people whose land they took over? Nah. Good luck.

You misunderstood OP.

They’re saying it is the FL they felt too old for the ML, and that they felt She was grooming Him.

Title Hierarchy
It was a masterpiece😊
Misplaced anger I guess?

I had someone randomly attack me for my rating (& my ratings are so unserious) of a drama when discussing the flaws of an unrelated drama and they liked Hierarchy so…

but thanks. I’ll try to keep my emotions in check.

Hyun.Bin. 😑😬😭

Went down his filmography rabbit hole some many years ago.

(worst decision ever. but I actually watched the damn thing. it was like being unable to look away from an ongoing trainwreck. weirdly addictive)

(FL was definitely a mad woman in that drama. Who cheats on HYUN BIN?! With their surprise half? brother no less. 😵‍💫Atleast he smacked her once 🫠👋🏻)

That FL starred in that Lee Jong Suk Romance Bonus Book drama later.

And the other female lead is the villainess in Devil Judge.

You know there wouldn’t be this many arguments if they had just chosen… quite literally, ANY other drama ?This…
Sorry if I sound over emotional.

I’m not a CLOY fan. I did love the drama, but it’s not anywhere near my top 10. I also didn’t care about the ratings war for QoT vs CLOY. Aren’t they like by the same writer or something?

I am however sensitive over the topic of the North/South divide and it’s depiction in (particularly foreign) media or the possible threat of cultural appropriation by taking a piece that appeals to both the North and South, and twisting it for your own entertainment with a poor copy? Especially when the separation of that land is partly the fault of the West? Not getting into that anyway….

There's no American equivalent to any aspect. No charm, no romance, no actors, no comedy. They won't be able to…
Idk I think Russian x American in wartime kinda aligns more with Korean x Japanese during Japanese colonial occupation of Korea.

Where you do get people of the SAME culture divided by a tragic situation? Not the Romeo Juliet coming from enemy warring nations trope.

I know, and this is mdl. You want me to use perfect grammar on a social media reply? Grand. But I’m not feeling bothered atm. Thanks anyway.

Also, I’m not sure if you actually read what I said or just skimmed through it to arrive at your conclusions.

Diverse cast is one thing.

When characters entire IDENTITY is the plain fact that they are “X”…..

Or when diversity is artificially pushed in without rhyme nor reason.

Like if Koreans were to somehow pick up on that trend, then in a Joseon setting drama, they would add an African origin first concubine or Arab commander general of the army. Make historical sense? Nah. Muh incluSivity.

everyone and their mother yapping about how this is bad, while forgetting the underlying message in this series.…
I’m genuinely curious, what do you think the message is? Because I’m quite sure it has not been conveyed to all of its audience

We’re mocking how much American media tends to favour a farce of inclusivity at the cost of creative quality.

Having dramas featuring a black character or gay character etc is not the problem.

It’s how blatantly forced it is in Western shows. When the characters entire personalities are written just to be their race or sexuality.

When a lot of that “inclusivity” they so proudly present is actually quite insulting or not very inclusive at all.

For example “Asian” being generalised “Chinese” looking when there’s an entire continent outside of China or East Asia.

Or that despite making painfully sure to have the 4 main characters be 1 white 1 black 1 asian 1 hispanic, they still won’t have any representation at all of NATIVE AMERICAN. The actual indigenous population they wiped out and genocided.

Or that if a “Chinese looking guy” is in, he is always always the “just the nerd”.

Or that if an ‘Indian looking guy’ is included he is likely to have a terribly fake “Indian English” accent, when that is wholly untrue of Indian American citizens.

Or that every, and I mean every drama MUST have X Y Z check boxes of characters, even if makes zero sense in the context of the plot content.

If you can’t see any of that, then I suppose you’re quite the target audience for them.

Finished it, it wasn't bad per se, I didn't really have to skip scenes while watching it. But I just got annoyed…
Not everyone is morally grey just because they are poor / unfortunate.

Also In Kyung had been partially raised by their stinking rich aunt. Given access to privileges and education the other two had not.

people either call it a masterpiece or dumpster fire, no in between
That’s the general attitude of mdl-citizens

It’s frustrating.

I enjoyed this drama. But it’s not flawless. Far from it. I hated another drama, but it was not without its merits.

People, I suspect mostly young kids, but just all internet dwellers in general need to really stop consistently using hyperbolic language. It’s unhealthy.
