Okay so who is pheobe? because when i google, that name pops up as Solomon's GF but I'm on episode 6 of this season…
you possibly know by now but here's an answer anyway;

Phoebe is Solomon's Korean-American girlfriend from New York (he studies at Columbia, not Yale) in the book who came back with him to Japan. She doesn't seem to exist in the show. Instead, we get the Japanese employee Naomi that he has a brief romance with in the show.

It has a lot of flaws. What a waste of potential.I'm happy with the ending tho. Just that, I felt like the events…
Isn't Dukgo the guy who invented the app? He deserves to be crucified for creating a dystopian app. Also, he was yet another creepy stalker. The object of his affections plainly told him that she was uncomfortable with him stalking her or taking her pictures. And the only reason he even liked her was because she was pretty. That's it. But then he didn't like that she didn't find him attractive enough. So hypocrisy. It's okay for him to like someone based solely on looks but not okay for them to not accept his confessions based solely on his looks.

Worst possible storylined korean drama i have ever watched. i dont understand how this drama was popular as it…
This drama has its own special brand of fanbase. The anti hate watchers.

It's so bad that everyone's heard about it and so everyone must come here to suffer questioning their life's choices and existence.

(Also stars fairly popular actors and Netflix production- one of the first Netflix kdramas, so you know that makes it more infamous)

Aigo they became genieee... be happy.. dn be angry.. uwu
Wasn't one of her wishes to have the FL continue their weekly lunch/dinner schedule ?

Also, I don't see why the friend would forget all the genie, magic, shapeshifters, deaged grandma stuff. She wasn't entangled in any wishes back then. She just put two and two together. Her new deal with FL's genie should only erase her memory of her dead BFF reappearing to her as a Genie.

To me, she’s more of a sociopath than a psychopath, because underneath all her walls she genuinely cares about…
I want to know if anyone else got a sense of autism in her character too. Autistic ASPDs also exist

Like her rigid stubbornness and need for routines, her meltdowns if her routine is interrupted or if her speech is interrupted. The way she yelled both those times at her mom/best friend when they stopped her from finishing her sentence.

Also her needing to memorise expressions and what they mean. Or not understanding her own emotions - like when she clearly grieving but only identified herself as feeling very uncomfortable. That sounded like autistic alexithymia to me. She even fits the autistic savant genius stereotype.

I’m still on 5th episode but as Ahjin wants to be on the top she really chose the most fragile path. She could’ve…
I don't think she really saw another way out. Her beauty was the one thing her abusive parents left untouched. She didn't want the career at first because it was too similar to being sold as a sexual object the way her dad had always wanted to. But she was cornered in the man's murder case and fighting against a smart corrupt cop with no one on her side.

I recently saw something really really disgusting comment about an actor getting 50 likes. The people calling…
Ugh. Do you know if those comments got taken care of by the apparently non-existent mods? There was a vile commentator that outright falsely shamed an actress as a prostitute for simply accepting a cheesy no plot romcom. Literally no real life scandals. Just this user not liking the acting and writing of a *fictional* drama. They had a lot of likes too. And I found they're still active on and posting hate comments on the page more than a year later.

I just found out that she passed away and I'm so in shock. I don't even know what to say.

I have a soft spot for child celebs. The immense pressure, toxic and exploitative environment they grow up in with usually a lack of good support and thrust into adult life before they're mentally prepared for it... If they make mistakes or they can't measure up to any expectations, I tend to forgive them easily.

I was worried about her after the DUI incident. She was barely legal then, and yet to start her career as an adult drama lead. I'm sorry to hear that she never got the chance to turn her life around for the better and we lost her so young. My condolences to her beloved ones.

My life has changed considerably in the past year. I'm aware this show is from 2023. But 2023 is a lifetime ago for me.

If you want to nitpick, then saying this drama came out "last year" would be incorrect. As it is 2025 June now. This is a 2023 drama. Not a 2024 drama. Even if it was released in the last quarter of 2023.

But I do wonder, which of us is obsessed?

And for that matter, why can I not be an unnie obsessed fangirl?

First half was great, second half was not. I LOVED the choice about father-in-law and uncles, that was genius.…
Haven't watched this drama yet and I'm afraid what kind of subs I'm going to come across....

But I really, reallly appreciate your rant. Dialogue covers 50% of what a drama wants to convey, the other 50% being the acting and other audio/visuals. Language plays a crucial part of a culture. And a mistranslation will not just erase that but can completely flip the context and connotation of a scene or character.

Disrespecting other people's cultures and wanting to "Westernize" everyone is typical American behaviour. Especially the likes of Netflix.

Weird. in my opinion, this show's mediocrity isn't recognized or hated enough. I need more people to see what…
That's actually a quite sad analysis and pitiful. Humans do tend to have hive minds and the neurotic need for validation. Made exponentially worse with social media sometimes, I think. We're often afraid to stand apart, so we try to look for or convert others to think like us. I'm guilty of it too. Even now.

It's been a while since I've really been active in the kdrama community but it appears during my absence, many of the little things I loved about watching kdrama's have died. I grievously miss the disqus community on kiss and DC and the rest. Good drama, bad drama, the reactions were genuine and engaged and mostly respectful. Far more discourse between differing opinions, making it enjoyable to continue to watch even if you disliked the direction of the drama yourself.

oh hey, I think I saw you like 5 years ago on this same page being just as spitefully bitter.

I see you haven't changed nor grown up. Worse, you seemed to not have found a new hobby or a life yet and have proven yourself far more entranced than any fan.

But I guess what they say about anti-fans is true. You guys are far more dedicated to and consumed and obsessed by the very thing you hate.

(Oh just because I anticipate this question coming towards me: I'm simply here to reply to someone else who replied to me.)

Any other writer and it would've been a great sci-fi. Tackling real issues with technology dependency, social media and modern day romances.

I won't completely fault the scriptwriter for this either. From what I could see of the webtoon, (can't actually read it anywhere?) the webtoon author is also heavily focusing on the stale love triangle. And the characters not being any better at all, actually worse.

I did love the OST though. And cinematography in the first few episodes of the first season.

Did you watch it? Although it can be dark, and bloody, there's an underlying human or quirkiness that balances…
It's definitely dark and that naturally includes heavy backstories and plot set ups. But the overall screenplay comes off as dark humour with the none of the characters really angsting at all for what they've been through. They're all a bit nuts. It's hard to angst as an audience too, because you never know what's true.

Far from a light watch though.
