kinda off topic but i am glad that asian productions havent fallen in quality just like american ones have, solely…
there has been a little decay in some aspects arguably although the production budget values have shot through the roof but yeah thankfully not as bad as what you described
lol what’s this all about? (I don’t keep up with celeb gossip)
ah I see, I understand your point of view
That does suck. I don’t use twitter or wherever else fans or netizens rage about celebs so I miss the context and just found the joke/s on this page funny, even if it had been for my favourtie 😅
As a relative newcomer to kdramas (2019/2020) in my eyes it's kinda like there are two kdrama eras: pre ca. 2016-2017…
Not a rare thing no. Just some dialogue here and there is translated weirdly, and no thoughts put into explaining cultural or language context that’s for sure unlike Viki subbers that do make an effort sometimes
The dubbing can be worse I hear. But I’ve never found dubs comfortable in the first place
The dramas are still watchable and most viewers don’t care I guess. But some of the little details are missed or misinterpreted for those that aren’t familiar with the culture or language

oh yeah, in 2023 Netflix dumped like double plus the amount of investment they did in 2016
probably because of success of their original shows like Squid Game, The Glory, etc
It’s not all been good change in the kdrama landscape in recent years. Some new kdramas will probably look unrecognisable to you as what you expected from a kdrama.
honestly it sounds more like she has some physical or mental health issues and people just are enabling her by…
like kdrama industry has some of the best make-up artists for this purpose if we go by their zombie teams, so yep they could’ve easily made her look like a living corpse
PMY’s at that Hook agency right? The one with all the fuss about stealing their artists money? Technically it should’ve been their and her manager’s job to ensure their artist is healthy and happy.
Maybe someone should hire her to play a chubby character next🥲 :/

I mean showing dedication, particularly to fix image, isn’t wrong but….
you don’t need to get yourself unhealthy in order to ‘realistically’ portray an unhealthy character. That’s not acting anymore. And it’s not a model example you should set for fans either.
I really hope she gets the support she needs and gets back to a healthy weight and lifestyle

Right?! I’ll be forever grateful to those guys. They were my first teachers for Korean language and culture.
These OTT platform subs sometimes don’t even bother to pretend like they’re giving you correct subtitles, off in their own world, separate from what’s happening on screen 🥲

Oh yeah, there’s both pros and cons.
I really do appreciate the higher budgets and expensive feels— provided they don’t sacrifice plot integrity chasing $$ like the way many American dramas have been ruined.
Some part of me feels like I want to protect the little bubble of Kdramas and not have them become so global like now that EvErYonE is talking about and let them stay like a cool-kids-only-niche-club 😂
I also don’t want to them to abandon their cultural values in their media and cater too much to international or western views. The beauty is that we are all different after all.
I think newer dramas also have plenty of makjang elements, tho maybe less pronounced. But one thing I can think of is the significant drop in the douchebags for MLs. Like the wrist grabs, or dominant posturing or verbal insults. Either they did a 180 after they fell in love or stayed kind of jerks till the end. But we’re getting a lot of soft awkward boys nowadays.

omg you’re right, there’s hardly any tv rips these days, most recent one I found is for some tvN drama called My Lovely Liar which has its 15 age message.
I don’t watch my dramas in chronological order so I’ve completely missed this development.
That’s a little sad tho. Like where did all those nice subbers go, they actually did their job well unlike the butchered subs I see from Netflix and whoever

2016 is when Netflix dumped in their first investment so I wonder if that has anything to do with the change in filmography styles 🤔
This thought has been sitting in my head since I saw some k-netz talk about how they too can feel a stark change in their drama productions, calling it “pre-Netflix” and “post-Netflix era”
why do asian dramas have this crazy standard of weights.. 37 kg? can you even survive with that weight.. essshhh
honestly it sounds more like she has some physical or mental health issues and people just are enabling her by calling it “work ethic and dedication to art” :/
It was a blink and you’ll miss it scene. She’s famous enough that even if she acted terribly in that part her drama would still garner enough audiences. And even if not, you shouldn’t mess with your health just to play a character.
lol what’s this all about? (I don’t keep up with celeb gossip)
I’m not going to comment on the speculating articles or Twitter comments as you agree that isn’t a verified source to make any judgements.
But thank you for providing a link to the actual interview. You could have done that sooner lol and saved us the trouble.
I didn’t think before he had made any sexist or mean comments. But rather that he’d made a silly statement that becoming a father, like he is now, can mean losing his job in the acting industry.
Look overreaction like cancellation/hate aside, some of the jokes on his statement are not exactly anywhere near harassment the way you think it is (like the OP of this comment thread).
He’s a grown man. I don’t think some online comments joking about a relatively recent interview (because he hasn’t had a new drama out after that yet) statement of his is going to hurt him.

Well I all meant by Korean forums was verifying he ever *had* an interview like that. Not that I’m basing my judgment on their judgement, sorry if my words were said confusingly. (Which by the way, no need to act like Knetz are a different less holy species lol. Both international and Korean netizens have a mix bag of dumb comments and sane comments).
So yeah, he did appear to say that becoming a father can mean an actor loses his job.
And that’s the statement that is silly coming from him.
P.S. you know that making fun of something he said isn’t the same as cancelling him right? You don’t need to be so over protective lmao.

Kindly do not post speculating gossip as an article here unless you’d like to lead this site to shut down with lawsuits in the future
If it’s not an announcement that came from the artist’s agencies then it’s not a verified source.
Don’t be a creepy fucking stalker. Celebrities are people too you know.

The King 2 Hearts opening - MBC. Is that the cute blue balloon you’re thinking of?

not that a list of exes that got married are any indicator of who was at fault in those relationships
But thank you for providing a link to the actual interview. You could have done that sooner lol and saved us the trouble.

And you had a lot of interesting questions even if there were 2 years old
