Why are we seeing him everywhere? Korea is weird. People with drug addiction and mental illness get punished but…
This is the first time I’m hearing anything of this. Which is honestly weird for a SA case this old (2016) with an actor this famous.

Comments regarding his case on his mdl profile page are less than a year old (with only one short comment thread that is a few years older but no comments circa 2016), can’t see anything on his asianwiki page either…..

I don’t think general young Korean audience have heard much either. Or well, since his accuser is jailed in the end, it’s just become an unverified scandal. Legally the SA could not be proven so we can’t say anything about casting decisions. If you believe him guilty, boycott. If you’re neutral or think he’s innocent well… I guess you watch.

Korean and their beauty standards, they consider 40kg plus body as overweight, so you can imagine I don't give…
ugh this reminds me of that news about Park Min Young supposedly bringing down her weight to 37 kg(!!!!?!) in order to convincingly play a cancer patient in her drama ??? (which is a 5 second scene at that…..)

Any adult woman with her weight being 30 something kg is a Big. Red. Flag. for her health and needs to consider lifestyle changes and maybe doctor advice ASAP.

And a famous actress, with a large fan following is the last person who should advertise unnatural weight loss or weight gain as something positive or healthy or ethical or reasonable for job demand.

It's so so. I started this one quite a few times myself. The mystery is a bit meh and the characters too. All…
I mean I agree about Hwarang but whats that got to do with anything? It doesn’t even appear to be a drama OP (Patricia) has watched if going by their MDL list…….

Title He Is Psychometric Spoiler
Worst plot twist I have ever seen in a k-drama. The more the twist happens, the more I lost my interest and enthusiasm…
Do you mean the culprit of the fire/deaths plot twist? Because then I gotta tell you, the whodunnit was almost obvious from ep 1.

The drama journey is more about the present bonds the main characters share and how their pasts shaped them. And the angst lol

Title He Is Psychometric Spoiler
happy ending?
This is one of those dramas where the bittersweet ending fits just right even if it hurts.

You know it’s coming. If you’re a veteran drama watcher you can probably figure out right from ep1 where the big heartbreak point is going to come in for the main characters.

And although that one good main character dies a little unexpectedly, you also think it’s maybe better she passed away before she faced more heartbreak. Her death also serves as a turning point for other main characters.

The article below this one is literally about Gong Yoo mourning the death of his father, which is even less newsworthy…
Ah yes I dont care for the dissection that fans or general public tend to do regarding initially harmless simple announcements of dating or marriage. That’s definitely tabloid material, but as far as this page goes, I think the author has kept it simple and respectable as an announcement and not included any gossip.

So there’s nothing to attack this article for. It’s simply the English translation of whatever “we have a baby girl” announcement the actors agencies put out. With a bit more info about the actors last dramas and a line about when they made their marriage/pregnancy announcements.

Births, marriages, deaths - announcements of those nature I think if we don’t have anything good to say, it’s generally better to simply ignore and move on.

Besides celebrities are not the only ones to make those announcements in general public/ to strangers. Eg: obituaries of completely normal people are also printed in newspapers. Sometimes such notices (birth/marriage/death/legal name changes, etc) are legally required.

You shouldn't watch this drama with fast speed. This is the kind of drama that should be only watched with normal…
Replaying the song multiple times is exactly what establishes the connection in the audience’s mind.

You hear it just once or twice then either you remember it because you really liked it or hated it in first impression or you don’t really remember it and then don’t care when it comes on. Then it’s just another song in your mind. Which just happens to be a device for time travel in the plot.

Repeated exposure is what allows the song to become more and get stuck in your head. And then like Pavlov’s dog, have you React immediately when you hear it. Bringing up the emotions and expectations.

Any other drama osts I’d understand you being annoyed with one song being replayed on a loop (this drama is all about loops). But this song itself is a vital part of the plot- the means of time travel, which means the audience needs to be as attached to it as the characters are.

( I love the song now. Including the little glitchy break in between when the time travel happens. )

You sound quite bitter and highly invested in wasting your time fighting about something trivial, on a website that is clearly dedicated to the entertainment industry and not an actual news portal.

I don’t much care about celebrities personal lives either. So I don’t bother to flick to the entertainment news section of a newspaper or glance in the direction of an entertainment magazine. But if there is an actor in particular that I am invested in for some reason or the other and I happen to overhear something troubling going on with them, then obviously the only means I have to find out more about them is to go access media that is dedicated to news about the entertainment industry.

Which is what this article falls under.

No one is saying— I am definitely not— that random celebrities’ kids births should be celebrated by the entire nation or that they must be treated like a national treasure just because their parents are famous entertainers.

I just don’t have an issue with simple harmless announcements of life changing milestones in the lives of celebrities I watch on TV, within an entertainment section of media.

Which this website falls under.

My solution was simply that MDL should probably consider some website design changes to keep announcements like this on a separate section from drama announcements because it has been bothering quite a few people.

(Edit: so the latest post appears to be a fan guide dedicated to actor Park Jin Young and those fan guide articles have been a staple on this website for over a decade. And the content of That article appears to be completely gossip rag material with ‘interesting newsworthy’ statements like “he covers his mouth when he laughs”. 😂 That definitely falls under making celebrities out to be larger than life and more important than they are. But I suppose for a teenage girl with a crush on some actor dumb tidbits like that mean the world.)

Yes that’s right. I couldn’t find a right way to phrase it.

Entertainment news on the level of harmless announcements about marriages and stuff but not quite speculating gossip rag.

I mean I’ve seen plenty of Park Sung Hoon being a manipulative mean villain, so who knows.

Now that prosecutors say they will seek to arrest Park Min Young's 'supposed' ex-b/f, all the nasty underbelly…
This is… interesting 👀

they could make a drama out of this lol, tho Kdramas about industry behind the scenes dont seem to do that well

how is this newsworthy?
The article below this one is literally about Gong Yoo mourning the death of his father, which is even less newsworthy as his late father was a not a public figure with a fan following.

They’re not harmful articles. Something life changing happening in the actors lives can have an affect on their career too. Besides with Korea’s low birth rates and even less news of k-celebs actually getting married, it’s not bad to hear some famous celeb couples became parents. And this celebrity couple has been plenty controversial with lots of calls for break up. This pretty much announces they’re a done deal now. Oh and I just heard something about his ex scamming agency using his relationship as a means of gaslighting him, including spreading false gossip about premarital pregnancy, so this baby’s birthdate proves that bit of gossip false.

Though I think MDL should have a separate section for celebrity gossip so it doesn’t overshadow drama news or important industry news.

Why assume I wouldn’t have a problem if the genders were reversed lol? I literally hate the main loveline in Goblin for example.

It’s not just the age gaps that I’m uncomfortable with, but rather age gap relationships that START when one party is still in school. That’s not an adult with a fully developed maturity. But a young mind vulnerable to influence. And the power imbalance is highly skewed. Even if sexual intimacy comes later, it can still feel too close to grooming.

And it’s not just my own issue. Melancholia is low rated for example for primarily the issue of inappropriate student-teacher romance. Goblin’s main couple is also quite controversial. The reason for the success of that drama largely attributing to the comedic iconic bromance and the second lead loveline.

Also your point about drama and reality being mutually exclusive is not quite right. Dramas are part of the media we consume in our real life and however much or little, they CAN and do influence our thoughts. Especially when one drama turns to one hundred and one hundred turns to one thousand and any channel you flick to watch something propagates the same message. It’s also the reason you are upset, because you wanted greater representation of a BL loveline with a well known cast in a kdrama.

Or perhaps you are? The BL romance in the webtoon was high schooler x almost 50 year old dude (possessing a teen).

Let’s not encourage pedophilia thanks.

Or he could you know… wait until he’s in his mid twenties or something to find adults to date and not creep on minors like a pedophile. It won’t kill him to abstain.

The BL main pair was a predatory romance between a higshchool minor and a middle aged dude (the possessor), which likely started long before the minor ever even knew he’d be dating a 50 year old.

It’s not okay even if it was a straight relationship. It is definitely worse for a gay relationship because it would be harmful representation of a community that doesn’t have much representation in Korean media.

I was nodding along with you until you randomly inserted homosexuality into the topic.Hitting 40 unmarried does…
lmao I give up, there’s no point trying to talk to a 5 year old -_-

You don’t seem to see anything wrong with just calling someone’s marriage fake.

Nor seem to care enough about the guy to respect his decision regarding his personal life choices.
