Yes, Mu Deok thought the reason Jang Uk followed her was because he fell in love with a face she considered by her own standards 'plain' and a body that was 'weak'. She did not know initially that it was because he could tell she was a soul shifter. Naksu however is consistent in one thing - being boastful. She was beautiful and powerful. Season 1 she brag about her abilities. Season 2 she brags about her beauty albeit in a cute and endearing way. If anything, the writers have been clear with this narrative.

The writers also have a responsibility to the whole cast as well. They need things to do. Hence Yul's story line (scenes) is uncovering Jin Mu's schemes in relation to his blood worm. Showing not telling. I trust Yul.
Of course this is exactly how we got 20 episodes in season 1, moving but not progressing. At this point not even angry. Would rather have it like this than the baddies knowing and plotting. Better to have one epic show down than go around in circles. I can feel it, episode 6 is going to end with a cliff hanger that will drive us insane. Then we still have 5 hours (1 hr 15 minutes) of 4 episodes left to wrap up the show.
