Probably will be released once 'Listening Snow Tower' is done. That drama has 56 episodes and is airing 8 eps per week, so it will be over by the end of June.
Maybe Mark is not acting due to him and his wife expecting a baby. so sad to hear that Mark isn't going to be…
My guess is someone put his name here based on a rumor. I've been digging and the drama's weibo never mentioned his name or any other actor/ess. It's also been silent there since late 2017/early 2018. Seems there really was trouble with the production team before and it's been in production limbo for close to two years, until Tencent bought it. So now another company, Xinli, will be producing it. Idk if the rumor I mentioned in my first comment is reliable but knowing Xinli, they will use their own artists.
This is not fixed yet right? Because I just saw another rumor about who's gonna play the male lead, and it's not Mark Chao. The only sure info about this project is the company producing it now and the network platform. It seems the previous company could not shoot for whatever reason and Xinli and Tencent bought it.
Ah I remember this vid xD. He got teased by the staf, remember how long you put on this costume? You're gonna sleep wearing it right? And in his vlog after this, I think he cried(?) or close to crying while showing the many bouquets he got from stafs T^T
For the reason of the ban (don't worry it's been lifted for now), I was only repeating cnetz general opinion. So please don't take what I wrote as fact ;-) . A possible other reason is NRTA is hoping to screen costume dramas more tightly, quality over quantity, that's why they are now putting more rules for the networks to be able to air costume dramas. Studios love producing costume dramas because they are easy to sell (to networks) and easy to gain money from. Actors are also easier to become popular from costume dramas. This results in the drop of quality and the domination of costume dramas in networks. Which is why NRTA put a rule that necessitate networks to proportion their costume drama slot with modern drama and variety shows.
I love everything about the novel...I'm not convinced of the cast but I hope to god that this is good...and HOPE…
What I learn after watching many dramas adapted from books, is to keep my expectation very low. This is not me saying this drama will definitely suck. But I feel it's better to not expect what I love from the books to be translated... faithfully?correctly? into the screen. The power of our imagination when reading also helps us imagine scenes however we like and we already love that image in our mind. From this drama I only hope for it to have coherent plot and storyline that work within the scope of this adaption and present characters as likeable and compelling as their novel's counterpart.
However, I'm sure this will have great OSTs though! XD
Oh...no...there it is, my hope for May ..just gone. How long will this be pushed? Sometimes I really don't get…
All of those we have to accept if we want to venture into cdramaland. It's hard but you'll get used to it eventually (the fact that the censor has really tight control over radio, tv, and film industry).

Yes. With more regulations. I don't understand nrta's reservation with costume dramas. One of the new rule is that networks can not advertise costume dramas in their main page anymore.
NRTA has proposed a compromise with the 3 major networks. Costume dramas can be gradually launched in April. There are tons of rules to follow by the networks but at least we can breathe easier now....

Yeah XD This lineup is lethal with popular male idols. I think they're gonna try to kill as many fangirls as possible lmao. (Edited 27/3 : XZ is not going, scheduling conflict)
Also, the official acc where I got my source about the new costume drama regulation, posted that it's been lifted. I'm not sure what to believe right now. But still optimistic because seriously, so many high profiled dramas being affected I bet the investors are frothing like mad because of it.
Yes. And then it was postponed indefinitely because of a new regulation by nrta...
They literally call those kinds of drama 古装剧 costume drama. There are still costume dramas airing this time period, those that started airing two weeks ago. So I stand with my choice of words 'limited' xD. Also I was using this term 'limited' in general, not just for Legend of White Snake. Sorry for any misunderstanding caused.

It's commemorating the founding of PRC, so yeah. Remember, it's only speculation, the 'because of commemoration' reason. But if I remember right, they did make room around October so they would be able to air republican dramas last year. I am still optimistic that this drama will be able to air sometime in Q2. Idk,maybe because there are too many high profile dramas being affected :/
Tears in Heaven... this one I have never heard of for a long time already xD
July - September. Shanghai Dongfang TV (Dragon TV). Mon - Thrs, 8 episodes per week.
However, I'm sure this will have great OSTs though! XD
New airing date, April 3 XD
