This drama had great parts and not so great parts but overall it was worth the watch. I was very much here for all the drama. Some characters could do better acting-wise but it was t too bad. Still don’t like Mim. Giwi is the definition of gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss lmaooo. Im glad that Matt and Pitch got to have their happy ending and everything but what about Eve’s stepfather💀? Eve is a better person than I am cause the way she still loved Mim after all she had done.

This is why I said it read like a wattpad y/n fanfic. With a “not like other girls” fl who is the one to change the bad boy rich ml. Although this type of trope is outdated to ME, I can see why it’s still heavily employed and why franchises like this still get popular. It’s easy for teenage girls to put themselves in the shoes of the main character and a majority of people can easily relate to them. Which is probably why rich, mean girl FLs are usually disliked and not very common. stories like that do exist and many people like them, e.g. Crash landing on you, hotel del Luna, (and, although I haven’t watched it yet, I’m guessing hometown cha-cha-cha) but usually they involve older characters and are more targeted for a mature audience. Anyways, I went on a tangent but my point is although I personally am tired of this trope, I do see why others like it and I wouldn’t care either way if this was the last remake or not.

Suspending disbelief has a line that can’t be crossed. Even in fantasy worlds there are rules and boundaries that are set because even in fantasy, the world that you make has to be believable. You can’t just have anything happen willy nilly just because you want it to. Say for example a protaganist needs to get from point A to point B to save someone, however point B is thousands of miles away but they still reach point B within 5 hours. Teleportation or some other method of fast travel was never set and it’s never explained how they get to point B so quickly. Taking such shortcuts for a plot point or some event in writing is dumb and it’s lazy and it makes the world building collapse cause if that is plausible then anything can be plausible just as long as whoever is writing the story wants it to happen.
A fictional world also doesn’t mean that the characters surrounding the main characters should have no self agency or moral compass of their own. Now, I can deal with a stock character or two but I know I’m not the only one that laughed when one of the reasonings mentioned by the boys and the girls for doing what they were doing was because Gorya “hurt F4”. This is just terribly lazy writing and honestly quite comical. Especially considering how F4 has never shown even a slight care for them, they don’t even reward them for doing what they’re doing. This might come as a shock to you, but even side characters should have plausible reasoning for their actions *gasp*! I don’t need to see the “immediate resolution” (whatever that means) to know that it’s wrong for F4 to punish those boys when they are the root of all evil in that school.
I never said he would end up in jail, that’s why I put “but that won’t happen” in parentheses. Hope that’s clearer for you so you can stop scratching your head before you get scalp wounds over your own lack of reading comprehension skills. You can totally keep your “rich character development”, I do not care for it. Also next time you might want to reflect if there is any substance to your criticism of my criticism, or if you’re just a little hurt because someone doesn’t like a show you like. While watching this you really have to suspend your disbelief at all times omg. None of the actions of the students make sense like why would they do all that just because she “hurt F4”?? That’s cult behaviour right there and also multiple felonies and misdemeanors. It’s so funny seeing Thyme jump in to Gorya’s rescue and F4 punishing those boys like those students and their actions weren’t LITERALLY A PRODUCT OF THEIR CREATION💀 like the only reason they felt comfortable enough to do that was because they thought Thyme had given them the green light. If they wanted to have anyone hanging upside down it should be themselves. And no one faces appropriate consequences for their actions. All the good actions that they do is to help Gorya but how about all the other students that got the red card? I truly don’t see how the writers could ever redeem these assholes with hemorrhoids that doesn’t involve facing jail time (but that won’t happen). Maybe later in the show they will at least properly apologize to their victims but unfortunately I won’t be there to see it happen…if it even does. Dropped.
Sidenote: imo this entire boys over flowers remake thing should end after thailand. The whole premise and concept is out dated and so is the plot and tropes that are used. No amount of including twitter and the internet is gonna save it because the backbone of it all is still old, tired, and probably has scoliosis. It reads like a bad wattpad y/n fanfic. And I feel like the only parts worth watching is when FL is rebelling against them at the beginning, it goes down hill when she starts becoming friends with and dating/liking them. Especially mr. Mix and match animal prints.
One of the best bls out there. I like the way the parents came to term w their relationship but it didn’t mean that they just suddenly became friends just because of Pat and Pran cause that wouldn’t make sense. I don’t understand why the fake breakup thing was necessary, but luckily we didn’t have to see the whole secret dating thing again and we just saw clips of it although I don’t get why they hid their relationship from their high school and college friends as well. But anyway the ending was amazing apart from that.

The scholarship thing makes so much more sense in terms of the rivalry between the family. I can’t imagine how I would feel if I was Pran’s mother. Although I don’t understand why they still live so close to each other (ig their businesses maybe). I feel like at the end Pran was letting out all his bottled emotions from all of those years having to center his life around the rivalry between his and Pat’s family. It must have been harder for him because he was even dropped out of school and forced to go to a different school bc of his friendship w Pat. And his mother also seemed much stricter about the hatred for their neighbor thing. Pat’s father is shameless af. Pat’s mother mentioned something about how everyone has something they would like to go back and fix. Well I don’t think not using the degree you basically stole, raising your children to hate the family of the woman you wronged, and spreading lies about that family is the way to go about fixing your mistakes.

I absolutely understand why people say this is the best sageuk/drama. And while I don’t think I’ve watched enough sageuk’s to make such a judgement, it definitely is the best I have seen so far. Highly recommend to anyone still on the fence. Don’t be intimidated by the 50 ep count like I was. It’s certainly worth it imo
