The way he talks and don't great her it didn't look like he was from lower caste. Maybe from upper caste but broke. Don't look like he has a family. Or maybe someone whose family got banished from the capital as a punishment or something. If he is from lower caste I guess during that time it was against the law to marry from different caste.

I think they kept using concubine and mistress both. Might be a translation issue or in Korean both mistress and concubine might only have one word.

Since there are 3 secondary love stories and atleast 2 murder mysteries along with the love story of the leads and the palace politics I guess 16 episodes will be apt.

I don't think kdramas cast actresses based on their height and most kactresses are short. Also tall guy- short girl pairing is very popular. A lot of people find height difference between couples really cute.

I think concubines are from noble families whereas mistresses are from lower class. In this episode it was shown that the defense minister takes the daughters of poor farmers who couldn't pay him back and he has a lot of mistresses and his wife complained to the mother in law.

Sanguks are set against monarchy and not democracy. It's a kdrama and as a rom com it has to be visually pleasing. Only upper caste could wear pretty and colourful clothes during that time. Also the lower caste were dirty poor and they cannot have a rom com with that setting. As you can see there is a very strict cast based laws during that time. The rich guy poor girl or viseversa were not possible. The leads are always from the upper caste and that's the only way they can end up being married. Else the fl can only end up being a mistress to the ml.

The fl sees everything with a rose tinted glass. So I won't be surprised if her husband wasn't a good person and bok hee is his child.

I find his character really interesting. He is very smart but also cowardly at times and is a menace to others. He is funny most of the times.
