Healer is the best K-Drama FOR ME. My rating for this show is 10/10. Overrated? I guess not because that is MY…
I love how JB (or girlfriday?) put it for another drama. Anyways, I think it fits for here. I think they even brought up the same example for Healer.
It's like going to a party where everyone else is having fun. But you go following people around, just to tell them how awful you think the party is and how the other party was better.
Both 10s (she gives a objective and a subjective rating) from Javabeans for Healer! That hasn't happened often.…
@amrita828 that's what makes it so much more awesome. I like that we all have different tastes but agree on Healer. I know that initially, I was surprised to see some of the people who were posting here because I didn't think someone like them would enjoy this show. actually, Healer is not a type of show I'd normally rave about either.
hmm..I'm usually not in the mood for incurable disease melos...but if it is done well... I would have to prepare myself though. :)
Both 10s (she gives a objective and a subjective rating) from Javabeans for Healer! That hasn't happened often. With her having been watching dramas since 1992... well to me, if any opinion mattered, hers matters more than a few critics that pop up occasionally. We need to go back to more positive conversations.
I've seen this type of comment more than once, so I just want to say that... obviously the eye candy helps, but…
I think it's unfair for people to assume that if an actor is attractive, that is the only reason people follow him. Heck, there are a ton of actors that I think are better looking but I would never watch a drama of theirs because their acting just doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't even watch a bad drama or movie from my favorite actors. I think some people get mixed up on the ONLY and assume we mean that it NEVER helps. Big difference.
What's ironic is that these other people are the ones judging the person or the drama because of this "attractiveness" they keep suggesting. Assuming that because the actor is handsome, that must be why the drama is popular. Certainly there can be cases of that but one needs to examine each drama on its own and also not speak for others regarding how good one actually is. I'm satisfied that at least Healer fans can understand that everyone will have their own opinions.
Oh and for those who bring up Heirs as an example... I think that one people generally agreed was awful. Popularity doesn't always mean high ratings.
Healer is overrated accept it,if it isn`t then Justin Bieber is the greatest singer on earth and the heirs is…
@tiraaa I think some people will just never understand. Or simply don't care to, seeing how they are arguing so fervently against something they say they don't care for (or didn't even watch). They're choosing what to read in your comment and missing the point entirely. lol
i dont know if this was posted before. The subtitles from DramaFever Ep. 20 translated what Myung-Hee was saying…
oh wow that is so sad. I wish to learn more about Korean history, particularly 1900s and on. I need to be more disciplined in reading about it. Thank you for sharing.

Glad you mentioned it! I'd actually like to recommend a movie called May 18 to give you a bit of background into the setting. The first events of the flashbacks in Healer take place during the 80s...after a time when South Korea was under a authoritarian government. Many lost their lives in protests for democracy and May 18 covers the Gwangju Massacre. I'm not very familiar with the history, so the best I can do is point you to the movie in order to give you a better idea. I think it will help to also see more about Healer.
Very overrated, nothing special or unique at all.. it`s a story like Superman..reporters,reporter female lead, male…
@silvermcv That's the main reason why I liked the show so much. I love it when a show has meaning that can extend beyond what happens on the screen. It's unfair that Healer gets labeled as a ordinary drama when there is so much that the writer intentionally put into it. But on the other hand, I love it when I can hold a discussion about the show with others who understood the same things. I also think it takes a lot of talent to take a typical storyline and inject life into it. I genuinely thought it was well-paced, well-balanced and well-written.
Well, now it seems like "a good-looking male" is the show's minus. That's all people see. If I rated based on how attractive the actor was, all of Joo Won's shows would have a 10. lol

I'd say the same about You Who Came From the Stars, which you gave a 10... but I don't, because it's all a matter of opinion. ^^ You could also say that that drama was made popular because of the actors. Because the story was... but that's just me.
Just because you didn't find anything special about Healer doesn't mean there wasn't. Just because all you saw was some attractive actor doesn't mean that it's the only reason we liked it. I hope you would understand that. I understand you didn't see anything special but to assume that your opinions are the only way is a bit much.
I really don't get it. Explain to me why people are so upset by some number. If you thought it was ordinary, then move on to the next show. I never spend my time on shows I didn't care for. Do you get some kind of kick by disagreeing with a popular show?
The more people watch Healer, the more popular it becomes, there are bound to be some people who will think it's…
I agree, and so people disliking Healer doesn't bother me. Not everyone will love Healer or see it the same way we did. They don't need to.
As for it being overrated, I don't think it is either. A lot of people liked it immensely and it's unfair for those people to be judged as having superficial reasons for giving it a high rating. Respect for different opinions goes both ways.
@happymess I agree. I haven't watched very dramas, mainly because I drop all of them. I've dropped so many, I don't even list them anymore. BoF...dropped. RP is an interesting one because while I enjoyed it at the time (it was my first drama in a long time), thinking back...I cringe because of Se-na. I simply do not have a taste for flat characters.
I appreciate how you explained what you loved about the Healer couple. While the romance alone was pretty awesome...it's really the deeper messages that took a hold of me. It's beautiful. I thought that the romance was nicely blended into the story which can be a tricky thing to do unless you plan for it. Usually, you can view the two (romance and story) as separate. In Healer, like you said...I thought they enhanced each other.
The last question speaks about Secretary Oh. You will have to go back a page and then to the one about episode 20 to see Song Ji-na's answer about Kim Moon-shik.
Sorry, I would answer here but unsure if they would be happy about that, especially since they got direct permission from her to post translations. Plus, the interview is a good read which will answer any other questions you might have.
anyone preordered dvd/bluray of the series?!? its so expensive..but the goodies that come with it...ahh!!
The Blu-ray version. Well, I tweeted them about it and they told me that it would be limited to 1000 copies, which was met a few days ago. Although for some reason, the sites still let you place an order. You can ask them about that through Twitter. They respond fairly quickly. Mine took a day.
yea...It's a tough choice. I decided to live frugally for the next few months for gifting myself. lol Spend less money on junk than I normally would, til I "make it back". :) Anyways, both versions come with the same stuff. Blu-ray version just has a different case. Only pre-orders come with all the extra stuff. :)
