The quality of the video made it difficult to follow at times. This one will definitely only appeal to film fanatics. It's a movie that paints a picture of Korean society post-war. The never-ending struggles of the poor.
More than being a revenge movie, it's also a critique of society. Aside from the obvious, I also saw characteristics of those who live so comfortably that they turn a blind eye to the turmoils going on around them. Obsessed only with their own needs. There is actually a lot this forces you to discuss and the directing is what makes this stand out from a regular thriller.
A mix of comedy, mystery, horror, thriller, revenge, sci-fi, social commentary...with a tiny bit of romance. All put together seamlessly. You'll like this if you are looking for something unique.
Indeed, the navel battles were epic. I did get the feeling that it was made to be enjoyed by a Korean audience. Not that non-Koreans can't enjoy it. Just keep in mind that he is pretty much every Korean's number one hero. It's a movie for Koreans to be proud of their hero and those who fought by him.
I am glad I picked this up again. It's my one over-the-top sweet show that lets me relax.
I really enjoyed the text conversation scenes between the two, where they'd show them as if they were next to each other. It lets us have intimate conversations between the two, even while they're separated. I was afraid that while they were apart, I'd have to suffer through not having enough sweetness. Glad it didn't go that direction.
Totally dropped this drama after the amnesia stunt. My love for choi jin hyuk and jang hyuk's laugh couldn't have…
I agree that the amnesia was a turn off and I put the drama on hold after hearing about it.
But today, I decided to just skip through it so that I could continue on with the show. Watched some of the important scenes and it's already back to being sweet...just in different ways. That is, if you don't mind giving it another shot.
this was a great drama until the last episode came and the writer had to ruin it and kill off 3 main characters…
doctor's son is alive. if you watch til the very end of the credits, you will see why some of us believe that. I know...the way they did it makes it seem like he died, especially since not everyone watches to the end of the video. but there would be so many people after him, he had to fake his death in order to start a new life.
It's a slice of life, indie film so if you do watch it, watch it with such expectations. It's not really about the story, But if you've lived beyond adolescence, it'll trudge up some memories.
If you could take all the isolation... the fears and the moods... of being a [immigrant] maturing teenager and stuff it into a film, this would be it. That's mostly what the movie focuses on, particularly of the female, who gives an excellent performance. To enjoy the movie, you really need to examine her and understand her. Also take note of how the scenery adds to the ambience and feel.
Amnesia, noble idiocy, miscarriage and divorce in just TWO episodes. It only took two episodes to destroy ten…
do you think it's still worth watching? I've stopped it at ep 10. having seen the Taiwanese version, I knew what was coming. sounds almost too heavy. I don't mind sad. but amnesia and noble idiocy are two things I hate the most.
I hope that the curse that has wrecked so many dramas in 2014 won't touch this one. So far, if it keeps it up, it'll definitely be a favorite of mine as well. I think the only way it could disappoint me is to drop in amnesia.
It's something people may not notice, but the pacing of this movie is what I appreciated the most. This movie is thoughtfully timed and crafted without falling into melodramatic extremes. This film is one that will leave the viewer thinking.
This was both directed and written by a student as a graduation project. I hope to see more from him.
Although there is no certainty, not sure why the amnesia posts aren't in spoiler tags. Anyways, if it does go that direction, it'll be a definite disappointment. I actually wish this drama was to 16. They gave us 9.5 eps of sweetness...and I feel that we have a lot of heartache to come til things become right again.
great acting from Jung Jae Young. it already mentions it in the synopsis so it's not a spoiler. but...NOT that the rape scene is visually graphic, it is disturbing enough that some people may want to avoid this movie. probably should mention that because it may not be obvious to everybody.
the highlights are in what the movie gets you to think about, rather than just the story alone.
Anyways, great start!
