Finally watched it, then realized Scorcese's The Departed is a remake of this HK classic!
Loved this classic, but Scorcese's is amazingly gripping!..... Both good in different ways ....
IA is a quiet, tender portrayal of Chan (Tony Leung) and he was amazing... a quiet, slow-burning intensity.
I like that Scorcese's version fleshed out the main characters more, and w/ a seething intensity.
Did anyone notice the allusions to Meteor Garden, the T-drama, especially last two episodes?
Not just the "Meteor Garden" story but also the famous scene of Jerry Yan chasing the bus that Shan Cai, oops I mean Wu Tong was riding? .... a few other allusions also. XD
Are they the same writer or director for both shows?
Very glad I gave this a chance .... Good story .... I like the relationships ....
and ...it has what I like most: lots of angst and jealousy.
What I did not like: the lead actress' acting, especially in the beginning .... I hate her portrayal of Wu Tong as the stereotypical poor, dumb, and extremely clumsy female that only knows to cry, weep and simper.
BUT, Wu Tong's character showed strength and bravery and hints she had intelligence early on, ... SO, it made me continue, until she finally stopped stumbling over her own feet and showed she had brains!!! ....
Unfortunately, the simpering and crying to gain sympathy continued until the end :((
I only did 6 months Japanese so have to rely on google translate and my text books a lot - I'm learning mandarin…
Thank you sooooo much .... I learned to be patient waiting for C-drama subbing .....
Thank you again for putting The Stand-In on your list .... I will love you forever! ❤ ;)
and so will all the Wallace Chung fans!
I want to watch sth with him to understand why is he being constantly name-dropped, but everything is so old...…
Who keeps mentioning him? ... Well he is popular for his good looks, talent, and for being very private ... mysterious and scarce to catch , maybe that’s why he has become such an icon..
He hasn't made anything but CFs since "The Man from Nowhere"/Ajhusssi.
For dramas: ---"Autumn's Tale" - A classic ! Perhaps bcz it is a very typical k-drama with many cliches, but a well-made one. .. .. Won Bin, 2nd lead, steals the show. --- "Friends 2000" - is very cute, light, short.
For Movies: Highly recommend All !!! .... --- "Man from Nowhere" - is Amazing...Wow! (even if u don't like action, u will like this) --- "Tae Guk Gi" - is one of the best war movies. --- "Mother" - is a pretty good thriller. --- "Guns" and "My Brother" - are very touching.
This started out strong... lots of angst and an interesting lead couple , that was fun to watch. ..... BUT ...Just…
usually, if it is NOT Ch3, there are real kisses....unless actor/actress don't want to dp it!
But, Ch 3 has been allowing real kisses more and more now.... and their very old lakorns had real kisses.... also Anne always has real kisses (despite being w/ Ch3)
Anything w/ Weir Sukollawat (ch.7): he is the kissing bandit .... always tons of real passionate kisses, tons of hugs and more.
Do I need to watch Roy Ruk Hak Liam Tawan in order to watch this? or is this a standalone?
yes! .... I like the story,.... give their romance a chance, it is a bit subtle at times .... and beware! .... there is Psycho Aiko, the stereotypical evil 2nd female lead required in all lakorns..... besides, Ryu is always there to add humor and fun!
I don't think I've ever seen any drama couple have more chemistry than Nadech & Yaya !!! ... It is difficult to…
Romance is the ONLY reason to watch lakorns ..... The man is always obsessed and crazily head-over-heals in love w/ the female ....
Lots of bad w/ the good .... If not for the passion and hateful male leads, I would not watch Lakorns.
Do I need to watch Roy Ruk Hak Liam Tawan in order to watch this? or is this a standalone?
Realy, u don't like Mario? .... A lot of people love him, and he is a very handsome and good actor.
I think Takeshi and Seiiko's love story is very romantic .... But... they are the opposite of Ryu and Mayumi ! Takeshi/Seiko are very quiet types, serious, peaceful, polite ... Ryu/Mayumi are fun, outspoken, adventurous and bicker all the time .... Takeshi expressed his love and pursued his love always .... Ryu was in denial, pushed her away, and even when he pursued, he didn't seem serious.
Both romantic, but Yadech are unbelievably fun to watch!

You don't need to, but it would help explain a lot of the background story and why they broke up in the first place, since this starts w/ him trying to get her back .... I liked story and villains in part one more, but part 2 had the best couple and so much fun!
I don't think I've ever seen any drama couple have more chemistry than Nadech & Yaya !!! ... It is difficult to…
Romance is always essential to all lakorns, so it depends on the type of characters and stories you like.
--- For more of Nadech & Yaya, I've seen "Game Rai Game Rak" and "Duang Jai Akkanee"... both were good and fun ....
also heard this was good: "Torranee Nee Krai Krong"
--- "Mafia Luerd Mungkorn: Suer" .... a very romantic lead who expressed himself openly, not typical in lakorns, .... action and strong female, and their chemistry and fun bickering were similar to RFTD here...But a Contrived plot, messy writing.
--- Also, I noticed u have not yet seen Ken and Anne, so I also recommend:
"Oum Ruk" and "Soot Sanae Ha"..... The best acting, and great chemistry.
I should start off by saying that I watched it without any idea what the novel it was based on was about. It was…
You are right about the Choppy scenes .... although they included the most essential parts and scenes of the novel/drama, it just is not enough to explain their relationship... Thankfully I have watched the drama, so I knew the background causes for their seemingly erratic emotions/ behavior ... Also, in the movie, i felt they explained the cause of their "silent separation" too late.
The story in the drama is very good. just wish they would have condensed it a bit like they did here ..... especially towards the end, the drama dragged .... Also, Tiffany was not good at all and her ugly wardrobe, representing her child-like image was ridiculous. Yang Mi did a better job.
HXM was good, but Wallace Chung was awesome!
She's a tomboy! .... She still has a beautiful face .... and their chemistry will make you overlook it.

Please think about subbing Wallace Chung dramas, especially "The Stand In".
besides, I'll watch anything w/ Wallace Chung, even unsubbed!

will u be doing anymore subbing?..... If yes, please, please, please consider subbing some of Wallace Chung's dramas!....Pretty pleeeeeease!
