I am not going to lie, but their characters are both starting to annoy me now. This push-and-pull is getting redundant, and honestly, it is so unnecessary at this point. It was cute...at the beginning.
I am also extremely disappointed that THIS was how the kissing on the rocks scene actually turned out...I thought it was going to be more impactful and tasteful. I thought maybe this was finally going to be the turning point in their relationship. I thought we were going to see some progress for the better...but I feel like we have taken 5 steps backwards instead.
That particular scene looked so good in the previews/clips, but I didn't realize that this would be the plot and where we are at. Unfortunately, I am disappointed.
ah, so Puri Island in Jinguo was the abroad place Chen Yi was at for 2 years, and where he was doing illegal underground fighting....holy shoot. That's why he looked so uncomfortable when it was suggested as the work beach trip, and Miao Jing knows something, hence why she suggested a different island.
DAMN. So now, he knows she knows something...haha this is exciting.

I would say it is hinted at from episode 16 actually, with the way the officer treasures the tea and looks at his wife's picture when she is in a wedding dress. You can also tell by the way he looks - he looks like he has aged a lot due to loss and sadness. Also, she would show up on screen, especially if she found out Miao Jing was back in town.
But to answer your question, we get confirmation at ep 21. However, we still don't know HOW she died.

But here are my theories: - He may or may have not set the fire. If he did, it was to burn the evidence in that building, but he probably got out before it actually went up in flames. I feel like it was planned to also make Feng Mao die in that fire. - He went back inside because I think he found out that the police officer's fiancee was inside the burning building. Chen Yi went to save her but couldn't and she died in that fire. - No, I don't think he went to prison but he may have either been "sold" to do underground fighting by Zhang Bin (trash bin is my personal nickname for him) to pay off his debts (the money he gave Miao Jing after making her leave) or maybe Chen Yi was also supposed to die in the fire but didn't. And so in order to make sure Chen Yi doesn't speak about it, trash bin manipulated him and told him to go do underground fighting. It is also possible for Chen Yi himself to willingly join the underground fighting as a terrible escapism and coping mechanism, especially with pushing Miao Jing away, hurting her, and also not saving the officer's fiancee who was like a sister to them. - You are right, he is terrible at communicating. He thinks it is better that Miao Jing doesn't know anything about what really happened to him. He thinks not telling her is a form of protecting her. He could also be ashamed of his actions and rather just shut down than communicate. - He doesn't say boyfriend. He says girlfriend. I think there might be some translation issues and wrong subtitles from whichever website you are watching it from. He says that he has a "girlfriend "to push her away and make her go back to the big city.
Again, these are just my thoughts and theories. We really don't know what happened yet fully (even at ep 21) so I can really only make some predictions.

I am so proud of Miao Jing for getting on his lap and immediately making out with him hahaha and she even bit him lightly. GET IT GIRL!!!
