Didn't expect to see koji yakusho and I didn't see that twist coming. I honestly surprised the movie ended as positive given those sh*ts that happen on each family members.

What a depressing movie. I was in such a low spirits after watching it. I was expecting so much of it... it has…
Did you watch this with subs?

This movie almost fooled me lol, damn those cute moments, but it's only near the end where I realized I'm not watching an ordinary rom com. Brutally honest of everthing - characters, situation, human emotion & ending in relation to the theme.

Josee as the main character is crippled yet not the type you would feel pity for. By far the most savage character with disability I've ever watched. She will say what she wants, no sugar coating on her words. BUT like shellfish which is hard outside she also has soft side inside.

The movie will not give AF about you feelings towards the ending. It will convey the theme up to the very end.

Two people having vast difference in age and experience, and also very contrast personality. The only common for them is they both longing for the love of a mother. A beautiful journey of an unlikely pair, a summer they will never forget that changed them forever. Heartwarming story enhanced by Joe hisashi's brilliant OST.

Goes to show that even without violence Takeshi Kitano can still make quality movies.

It is an 8/10 for me as well. Your perspective should perhaps be posted in the reviews rather than the comments…
I just wrote this on a whim, maybe but I think not enough detail for it to be considered as a review.

I wonder why she didn't have main roles. Her face is similar to Inoue Mao and her acting is no joke as well.

I'm starting to feel hirose's character is such a waste here. I hope they will develop her character more in future episodes.

Social commentary type of movie that critics human nature to judge and the bad effects of social media. This is very disturbing as it can happen to us or to anyone close to us. The movie also shows the bad sides of every characters even the main lead and you might also question her actions as you watch the movie. What makes this movie so effective is the documentary-like aspect of it, there would be no familiar face here at least for me, so it feels like you are watching real people. Most shots are also single framed, no camera movement, a little bit of ozu right there. It's just like saying we are only here to observe them.

Again this movie tackles two subject matter, the way people judge and the bad side of social media. I say the way you will view it depends of your age or experience in life. Having said that, this movie is very relatable to all ages which I recommend not because it's a great movie but because it's an eye opener that everyone should watch.

Title I Just Didn't Do It Spoiler
I've never been this triggered over a movie. The topic is so heavy and so frustrating to think it happens in real life. Ryo kase is a wonderful actor, an excellent example of subtle acting with passion. The highlight of this movie is seeing his character changed over these gruelling case hearings. His facial expression went from "lol are you serious?" to "Damn I didn't do it what the hell".

Kohinata "the king of jdramas" Fumiyo just portrayed the most annoying Judge ever. His trademark pleasant face made you believe he will made the right call but NO.

I also love the monologue at the end

"I know I didn't do it. I'm the only one who can judge here cause I know I didn't do anything wrong. I can judge the judge and he is wrong."

The things you hate is what I love about the show XD. Like you said too realistic. I also know people like michiru in real life and there's many of them. I know it's annoying but it's the combination of dependence and personality of a person. Sometimes there's things you can't control but good thing she had awesome friends to help her.

I think it's one of the best character driven dramas out there. Acting is great, it's one the few dramas that I wasn't annoyed by masami's acting, it's also the best performance by ueno juri imo. Kudos to japan having this kind of dramas.

Because there are people who loves cliche romance just like in anime and kdramas. You know $$$$$.The setting is…
Yeah we're cool. World would be a boring place if all of us think the same.

It the unusual themes...that's the appeal to me, and that's why I love arthouse types of movies cause you won't find those themes on mainstream ones. But not all student teacher dramas are like that. Some are cliche like for Sensei, Rainy Days & that yamapi movie that I forgot the title. But there are people who loves that because sometime in our life there's a time we had a crush on our teacher which most of us confused it with love. They just want to live that moment even in a fantasize drama.

Not just japan but in hollywood if you know the movie "The Reader" is also about a teenager who has an affair with an older woman. But guess what it is critically acclaimed and won best actress for kate winslet in Oscars. It depends on the person on how they will view it, those judges that saw "The Reader" view it as an ART which other casual movie goers thought it romanticize pedophilia.

Japan really doesn't care about the opinion of westerners so I'm not surprised about that. Just like any country there's a hidden dark side. But what I like about Japan there are drama/movies that shows how f*cked up their country is. They are not shy on showing that. Like bullying for example which is a big problem in japan right now. There are many dramas/movies that portrays bullying in the most honest manner, and sometimes over the top, which would only make their bad reputation worst. IMO It's their government that needs to be blamed and not their people.

Morals is a very difficult topic because before that word is invented, our world is big grey area and that's why every set of people has their own set of morals. It's also the main source of conflict...conflict that lead to war, so I would not even dare to have a debate on that matter. Just respect each others opinion.

Because there are people who loves cliche romance just like in anime and kdramas. You know $$$$$.The setting is…
Granted it's against the morals in this world, what's the difference between dramas about infidelity or criminal antagonist, or let's get more controversial...the bible when it says man is for woman vice versa, there are dramas that against this teaching. It's not that I'm against it, I'm just giving an example.

IMO It doesn't mean these stories are made that they are already romanticizing the idea. Dramaland is not real ife. People are not dumb to say "oh I'm gonna have a relationship with my teacher because that's what I saw last night". Or "cheating is ok because the mistress is so baddass in that drama". Get my point?

No it's ok I'm also just giving my opinion. I'm not here to shove my beliefs onto someone's throat.

Why is Japan so obsessed with student-teacher relationships? I get it that they view everything differently compared…
Because there are people who loves cliche romance just like in anime and kdramas. You know $$$$$.

The setting is cliche and the characters but the romance part like love they portrayed is not. There's 3 types of love portrayed in this drama which I will not bother to explain since you already dropped it in 3 episodes. Also, not all student teacher dramas are cliche. There are themes that they tackled aside from the student teacher romance part.

I'll give you 1 example
https://kisskh.at/790-kou-kou-kyoushi-2003
This drama tackles the difference between love and dependence which I didn't know before watching the drama. It's an interesting concept kinda fascinating.

Believe me I know where you coming from. God knows how I hate cliche type of dramas, triagles is what I hate the most. But even if they are cliche as long as it has underlying layer themes that is fresh to my eyes I would still love that drama.

Another movie about the conflict between south and north korea. The last movie I watch like this is "Spy gone north", and just like that movie it has awesome chemistry between leads and has a heartful ending. Unlike spy gone north it has more action, so between the two movies I would recommend this the most, but between the two I love spy gone north more. They are so good doing movies like this, they should do more.
