I think Hirugao is the best drama about infidelity. You may despise the show due to the plot but you can't ignore the fact that the writing is great, the cinematography is beautiful and the ever present awesome metaphors in jdramas is here (I didn't know that the color of sunset in mars is blue). This drama is also grounded to reality. That sex in the city vibe might make you think they are toying at the idea of cheating until see the consequences of their act. I've watched the drama before watching the movie and if you think the ending in the drama is sad then the conclusion in the movie is a tragedy, but that's just reality I think the drama gave a very good message about the karma you'll get if you cheat. Acting is phenomenal, could be the best acting for this type of genre ever. This show would become a hit on Netflix I tell you.
Drama 9/10 Movie 8.5/10
I also feel you can watch the movie as standalone.
Having a note is important, which is essential to achieve your goals in life, but nothing can be more important than being happy, and just like the famous quote "live your life for the moment because everything else is uncertain". I love the message in this drama, it's your quintessential Japanese drama. I also like Ito Atsushi's character is not your cliche misunderstanding father.
I expect this to be another coming-back-to-the-countryside type of drama which is love, although I didn't get to see any beautiful sceneries that I expect, I saw something more beautiful than that or should I say meaningful. This is a little gem here my friends.
LMAO the trailer is so funny seeing the reaction on these two newbie actors face when the director mentioned the names of the supporting cast. They are pressured AF. lol
Whatever ideology people have, greed will always overcome people, this is not totally true though as the conclusion gave us hope. Ironically those who appeared full of greed at the beginning are the ones who cares about their own country. I also thought this movie is about spies so where did those ninjas came from, cutting onions at end. What a heartwarming movie. One Korea make it happen.
This is what they called great script with brilliant metaphor in it. Very relatable to adults and young adults, those who are about to make a decision that will decide what would become their life. Would you cross that hanging bridge or would you prefer to stay, cause that one is not your normal bridge, it is dangerous as it SWAYS a lot. Acting is superb. Probably Teruyuki Kagawa's best.
The boy when he was young meet her when she's 28 yrs old then he met her again when she's 18. The face didn't changed the much so why he doesn't recognize her, same with the girl.
The first one got me so confused. What was the meaning behind it? Why was IU so intent on making Doona break up…
my take
Plot is not the main point, it could be he's not her real father and she's in love with him or whatever. They didn't even have character names right. BUT anyway just focus on the theme which is "womanhood", observe the difference when they moan hitting the rocket, the blood during the match, the sincere look on IU's face when he said thank you after the match. Look at the two actors we have, Doona bae & IU, both actress but have difference in experience, and just like the title of this movie "Persona", this movie might be personal for both of them. The way doona bae touches IU's thumb is like saying "good game kid, but I'm sure your wisdom will expand after this". We just witnessed them portrayed their own personas in this movie. Arthouse movies are more on themes than plot.
Everytime someone ask me what kind of asian movies I watch I always say any takashi miike movies and they were like "your taste is god like". Little did they know takashi miike is a hit or miss and didnt always make great movies. Takashi miike is known to international fans as Tarantino on drugs so he kinda well known and famous abroad, and bandwagons would always think he's perfect. They also didnt know I watch some fluffy romance movies/dramas from time to time.
Great first episode. Love the leads and also the supporting cast. I love kubota's portrayal of his character here even the way he walks is very different. His chemistry with honda's tsundere type of character is quite evident even in just one episode.
this was one of the most unhealthy relationship i've seen in a while. and not because of the age gap. i really…
I felt it is the director's punch to the face reaction to the quote "it would still be a good movie even if the ending is bad but as long it's memorable and it won't be the same case in love". There you go you got a good ending do you still feel it's a better movie now that you get the ending most people want?
So this girl had a heart transplant and went to okinawa to recover. There she met this trumpet boy whom happens to be a spirit. He's the one who donates the heart. Not a plot twist btw as you could have guessed it because they had thrown too much hints at the beginning. Now my question is, did she fell in love with the one who gave her her heart, or is that relationship just a way to convey them moving on.
The acting is not that good to be honest and main leads have zero chemistry. The writing could have been better too. The scenery is the best thing about this movie though like okinawa is wonderful island and I love okinawan music too.
