This one imo would be much better if done in a drama format with 9-11 episodes..with that we would see much more about friends and their bonding, I don't watch the anime but i feel that those other characters are essential to the story so why would cut them. Also I don't feel that "her being hero to him" in this movie which might portray well with more time. Both lead are capable actors, nothing special about their acting it was ok. This movie kinda open my eyes how good takahata mitsuki as an actress, she only appear at the half part of the movie but her acting is the best among all the cast, that fragile bitchy character she portrays..that dead eyes...that performance was something special.
The music in this drama is special to me and also the song by kou shibasaki love how they did the ending clip at each episodes, its like watching an old betamax movie. It add to the nostalgic atmosphere of the drama. This drama will always be special in my heart and will be the saddest thing ive seen in my entire life but at the same time leaving a smile in my face.
NOw you need to see byakuyakou if sekai no chusin was romeo and juliet then byakuyakou is hamlet...both masterpiece.
Of all the japanese movies film/dramas that I saw I can say the foreign actors here are the most solid of all specially that shoe commercial dude and the thailand gay guy. Satoshi what can I say he's fantastic as always I dont want to sound biased but he is really that good, showing emotion with that broken engish is so damn hard, Its not his best performance but it is special really special..kinda open my eyes on what he can still do. Keiko kitagawa is really pretty here she adds sexiness, i cant say he did fantastic because I can tell any other actors play that kind of character and the movie will be the same.

"if beauty is on the eye of the beholder then offensiveness is on the ear of listeners. I rate this movie high cause to me plot in a comedy movie is not that important if I laugh and if I get the message they want to say then im ok with that.
Last about that toyota commercial am I the only one thought that it was brilliant??
Im into IT industry and I love it and that's the only reason why I pick this, but god the acting is awful here…
well believe me im used to this type of drama....ex. my boss my hero, yuusha yoshihiko, aoi no honoo.....but this was definitely overacting in a bad way..
I dont mind if the acting of the lead is bad cause miike done its magic again I love it. Fukushi sota is lucky cause i might drop it if this was not a gore type of movie, just what if the lead was played by kengo kora, kubota or even higashide..this movie might be better with different lead.

IF yamapi is the master of underacting then fukushi is the master of overacting, I must admit some scenes he nailed it but most scenes he overacts. The most consistent performance is from kamiki the dude know how to act, I find the lead actress good too.
The CGI is far from realistic but I dont know if it was intentional and they want it to appear like that and I like the music too. My favorite scene was when the hikkomori finally goes out from his room then grab a manga put it in his pants...his mom ask him where he was going....he replied "I'm going to save the world". Dont know if that was in the manga but IMO that was miike humour inserted in this movie.
I just recently learned that he went in our country last year to do a movie collaboration with a filipino director. What makes me sad is the fact that almost none welcome him as if no one knows him. But the ultimate annoying thing is asano and lee minho almost arrive at the same time and tons and tons of fangirls went to welcome lee min ho while he didn't get any love.
Asano will go down in history as one of the greatest asian actors. His legacy will be included among the likes of mifune, nakadai, choi min shik, song kang ho etc. While lee min ho I dont know what will be his legacy once everything is all said and done.
this was a cellphone drama then the remake this to tv drama. Both cp drama and tv drama have same cast and I watched the cp drama 2 years ago on youtube.........I forgot the link tho.
If your curious about yamada's role I might say this one is his most introvert role i saw.
some may say he is already great during his orange days and slow dance days but I dont see him as great actor in those show then he did akunin, boat, smuggler....akunin IMO is his career defining role. He imo is the best young japanese actor working today with takayuki, moriyama, matsuda behind.
he is also had a bit role at fast furious tokyo drift.
