It is funny that even though everyone is scared of Hua Yong, Wen Lang still has the guts (while he has them) to open his mouth lol only Gao Tu is able to shut this man up. I admire your "no excuses" policy and your sense of putting responsibility onto people. I agree that Gao Tu chose this life, but I can't be harsh to him personally since I have never (thankfully) have been in his shoes. I tend to treat characters like they are actual people in front of me, so I try to not be too harsh to someone despite their lifestyle, in fear of saying so would make their mindset worse (even though Gao Tu is a fictional character & can't see my words lol). Like, if I were to said this or showcase this opinion though facial expressions in front of Gao Tu's face or someone like Gao Tu in real life, it would probably drop their self esteem even lower.

The other reason is because of safety. If his father founds out that he is an omega, he will send him to prostitution for money, just like what he did with his wife. Even though Gao Tu is an adult & doesn't live with his father, his father has a little bit of control over Gao Tu. His sister has been in & out of the hospital since childhood and she can easily be tracked through the hospital system. If Gao Tu cuts his father off or refused to go into prostitution, he can find his daughter and use her for blackmail or as a hostage. We will see something like this later on.
With his father's abusive parenting and his mother's last words of advice is to hide his true self or else people will exploit him, his self esteem & mindset is incredibly low since he was a child. He was raised with the image they put in his head and he doesn't know otherwise since no one told him or treated him otherwise. No one wanted to be friends with him because he was so busy working 4 part-time jobs, he has a shy & frail personality, and everyone ignored him out of pity. Everyone except Shen Wen Lang.
Side Note: His sister is nice to him, but he probably thinks she is being nice to him because she is his sister, she doesn't know him outside of the hospital, & she needs him to live.
Back to Shen, despite his very HARSH words & rude demeanor, he never left Gao Tu's side. He shows Gao Tu acts of kindness and Gao Tu immediately eat all of that up since Gao Tu never experienced that before. Plus, Shen Wen Lang chose Gao Tu to have a full scholarship & paid him 3 times higher than in the job market. Gao TU is very thankful to Wen Lang, so he would do anything (even costing his life) to repay him back, even if Wen Lang doesn't want him to. Also, he can't get a better paying job. Even though he is paid high in the 6 digits, he is living in a bad apartment since he is paying for his sister's medical bills & paying his father to keep him off his back.
I am looking forward to Gao Tu's journey of standing up for himself. It is not an easy journey. Like you said in one of your replies to someone, "he chose this" everyday for 30 years, so it is extremely difficult to choose something else tomorrow or even in a year if there is no belief in this decision, unless something BIG happens **cough** pregnancy **cough**.
