Shen Wen Lang's omega father (Ying Yi) tricked Shen Wen Lang's alpha father (Shen Yu) to mate him and get him pregnant, thus Shen Yu can't leave him. When Wen Lang grew up, his parents didn't have a good relationship with each other. Ying Yi would go into heat often and Shen Yu would trapped him in the basement because he wasn't attracted to Ying Yi. Shen Yu would have affairs here & there and it got to the point where Ying Yi shot a person (daughter of a general) in the head due to jealously. Ying Yi went to prison and after 3 days, he disappeared leaving a room full of blood, suggesting he died.

This story is based off of Wen Lang's POV of his parents' relationship. Later, it is revealed that he misjudged their relationship, so we don't know the actual, full story. The authors are planning to write a second book based on his parents.

Shen Wen Lang was getting a call from his S-Tier Alpha father (Shen Yu). He is named "Shen Yu (That Bast**d - Don't pick up his calls)".

We did see the cake. When they switched from the cafe scene to the scene in Gao Tu's apartment, we saw a cake in a clear box right in front of them at the very beginning. It is a 4-layered (I think) naked vanilla cake with buttercream frosting and fruit decorations. We just didn't see them eat the cake.

If I have to guess, he will probably find out when someone tells him around episode 13. So, 6 more episodes to go lol

Not even Gao Tu's sister nor his coworkers wish him a happy birthday. Granted, the coworkers probably don't know, but it is weird that his sister didn't said anything.

In this world, children normally present their secondary gender during puberty (around ages 11 to 13). At the last chapter of the book, the kids were 3, so it is too early to tell.

I really like him as an actor, but he has enough screentime for his character. In this episode, he appeared in half of it, which is a lot for a side main character. In other episodes, he also appeared a lot.

He passed out because of the suppressants/inhibitors he keeps overdosing on. It didn't help that he got caught in the cafe pheromone fight for a bit. I think when he left the cafe, he already felt weak, but he was still trying to fight it due to Wen Lang coming with him to his house.

Also, an alpha can impregnate an omega without marking them. It is recommended to be marked already for the pregnancy to be safer. Mating/bonding is like dating long-term and marking is like marrying.

You are right that it is not the same. It is not great directing, but it is bearable for me since the storyline & most of the acting makes up for it.

I did not say nor meant that the children scene was bad because the sisters didn't direct it. It was bad because it was out of character. The sisters left the director instructions and a guide, but he didn't follow it.

If I were to watch the main couple (who have tons of scenes (of course since they are the main)), I would be wasting my time since I am forcing myself to watch an extra 20 to 30 minutes of scenes for a couple that I am not interested in. The couple is great, but it is not my taste.

Since the main couple is your favorite, that is great. The second couple is my favorite.

I am not interested in reading the full novel, so no. I only read some of the extra chapters that the side couple is in and I skimmed it a lot since I am not a big fan of the writing. I read it because I want some sort of knowledge of the differences between the book & show for the second couple, which I got.

I am new to omegaverse shown in/based off of manga/manhua. I am not new to omegaverse in general since I am active in the fanfiction community and I see a lot of fanfics being set in that universe. The omegaverse shown in fics and the omegaverse shown in manga/manhua are slightly different in tropes, so even though I started reading omegaverse before 2020, these tropes are a bit unfamiliar to me.

They don't. This is the first time that they are directing. Their directing is not great, but I do like that they are the directors since they know the storyline & characters the best and tried to bring it to life from the book they created. Plus, book fans tend to roast the director whenever there is a difference from the book & show. They can't really do that here since the authors & directors are the same person.

They could have hired a third director or an assistant director to help them out. They did hired another director for the children's flashback scenes, but that didn't turned out well.

I don't think they will have a downfall as long as the next drama is good. Most BL fans tend to like familiarity, so I think they will be okay. Plus, since they are able to work around the censorship, they might be one of the only Chinese BL ships that will work in more than 1 drama, so they will get a lot of attention for that.

They need an action choreographer. Personally, I don't want to replace the directors since they are the authors, but hopefully, they improve their directing scenes as we go along. I give them some slack since it is their first time.

I hope that the next drama they direct, it will be better.

Oh wow it is so weird to hear people complain about that since the extra scenes are needed for a better storyline. Just because it is different from the book doesn't mean it is automatically bad. The book has flaws, so I am really glad that the authors are realizing that and are fixing it in the show.
