That's one thing I don't get in Cdrama's. I am all for forgiveness and harmony, but forgiving people who tried to kill you with smallpox. I am not that magnanimous . lol.

My theory is that Xi Wen found out about her husband's involvement in her family's doom while she was pregnant with FL. Possibly Shi Yang father knew about it and he killed his own father as well on the day FL was born. Shi Yang might have caused Xi Wen's disability by tainting the medicine during childbirth. He was obsessed with her and probably she was planning on leaving him with the baby. Her plans might have been thwarted with her father-in-laws death and branding her child as ill-omened.

She was biding her time, looking for evidence. When she stumbled upon the passageway she might have started further digging and used it to her advantage. Also in those days, it wasn't easy to accuse your own husband directly and this was a big case with huge money involved, it was easy to accuse in the name of torture.

But only if she opens more to her daughter, things could have turned out differently(But what will we do for amusement?. lol. )

There were some comments mentioning that Yun Xi daughter is adopted. I highly doubt it after rewatching. It was mentioned that Yun Xi and the dead wife had the baby together. FL father also mentioned that his first daughter died leaving young baby.

I am so mad that the concubine was easily forgiven and she got on with her life as if nothing happened. What about the 17 years of lost life, torture and hardship that the FL went through?

In most of the dramas, the concubine kid is the one who always suffer. Lately the trend has been that the main wife born kids is the who is being bullied.

I love the start of episode 9 and the bully rightly deserved the punishment.

Good point. I wondered about that too. But in episode 8, she asked FL if she should kill the mom. That makes me think otherwise.

Exactly my thoughts. FL was abandoned in the name of keeping her alive. But she lived a life worst than death. The mom could have protected her in many other ways.

I have 2 suspects in mind on who could have switched Zhuang Yuchi 's exam paper. One being the FL's mom and the other ML. FL's mother has more probability as her dad was a prominent scholar and she might have come across the very old essay.
