I think I might be able to provide some context here. So the idol groups formed from Chinese survival shows were only really contracted for 1 year to be a group then they get disbanded. Some idols go back to their original groups and debut in their company group, some go solo, etc. The idol to actor pipeline is very real, I think same with Korea (Siwon, Suzy, Yoona, Rowoon, etc.), but it’s more evident in China especially since the government banned idol groups and survival shows because of the controversy from Youth with You 3 so now the idols only choice to stay in the industry is to go straight to acting in dramas OR if you’re really a good singer and have the following, then you can go solo (Some from the Nine Percent group from Idol Producer CN did this).

As far as other idols though, they were trainees in Korea first and/or debuted as an idol in Korea (UNIQ, WJSN Cheng Xiao and Wu Xuanyi, etc.) and had to halt their group activities because of the hallyu ban that China enforced late 2016 (i think!) so these idols had to come back and do solo activities in chinese entertainment. I think the ban is not as strict now so some chinese idols that debuted post hallyu ban didn’t get affected but some very mixed korean-chinese groups like UNIQ, WJSN, EXO and others were affexted because they were already prominent kpop idols when the ban came about.

Zhang Hao is amazing and he absolutely deserves to debut and reach stardom! 100% rooting for him. He’s also signed under Yue Hua (same label as UNIQ- Wang Yibo and WJSN) and I know YH is not the best but they know how to find some absolute gems ✨

Am I the only one enjoying the childish romantic banter between Kokdu and HGJ? 😂 They’re both so unserious it’s funny when they try to be romantic lmao

Okay I was just thinking about this when I was was getting caught up ep. 6-10. It was such a huge part of what we knew of Kokdu so kinda wild it just rainbows and roses all of a sudden on that end of things.

Yes! But also they have such great lighthearted and fun chemistry. Especially when they were at Tiffany’s 😂 She automatically became CCY’s “dealing with a girl” guru.

I was absolutely adamant that I wasn’t gonna accept a good ending for the bad mothers and maybe Sua before I started ep. 15 but I absolutely ate up everything from the last episode 😂😭💀 Whatever though, this romcom was absolutely not perfect by any means— especially the mystery/thriller sub-plot and the forced supporting couple— but the wrap up was pretty freaking great all around.

Some underrated scenes for me:
-interactions between CCY and his new female assistant
-the redeemed bromance/friendship between CCY and the other math/homeroom teacher.

I loved this drama and I’m absolutely excited for what the future projects will come to the young actors from this show, especially Roh Yoonseo— my girl has been killing it drama after drama (Our Blues, 20th Century girl, and now this) 🙌🏽🤩

Actually, yes! But I think it's more that she's a die hard fan but she's trying to act cool with him so it just feels like she's trying so hard not to be into him when we know she should be? And yeah, KMG chemistry with Inah on BP was hard to beat.

No because same 😭 I saw the previous for this week’s episodes and I cringed because the romace is gonna seem so forced 🫠 Idk what it is, I can’t put my finger to what is not working in this couple but I saw more chemistry between WYW and any other member of Wild Animals or the singer sunbae. With KD it just seems like theyre friends.

Binged all 6 episodes today to get caught up. Honestly had so much high hopes for this one but for some reason, we can’t just quite get there. I can’t put my finger on it but I think the fact that the dark fantasy is much heavier than I anticipated kinda fizzles out the fun concept of this drama. There’s just also so much going on in such short amount of time that its so hard to even attach yourself on one thing, let alone follow all the stories. On top of that, they also go in depth in so much sad backstory for the characters and the chemistry is still lacking between the leads. It’s not giving me bubbles or butterflies or flowers during the supposedly romantic scenes.

Kim Mingue has been fantastic though. He’s doing his thing and carrying this drama on his back for sure. But idk man. I think I just expected this drama to be more fluffy and comedic than it’s turning out to be. I kinda wished they stuck more into the Lembry trying to navigate life as a modern human story and the whole idol industry vs. leaning so hard with the fight with the demon bit.

Didn’t know Sunjae was gonna deliver some angst but I guess I shouldve seen that one coming!! 😂

Some random thoughts before the final eps. this weekend:
-I don’t really know what the whole debate about whether or not Haeyi will go for Geonhu is about lol I love the guy. I love his character, but I cannot take him seriously as a romantic interest 😂 I don’t think Haeyi does either. I feel like he did what he did in ep. 13? as a plot device to encourage Sunjae. Anyway, I’m of the opinion that Haeyi doesn’t pick now and they make a spin-off for her. I don’t watch school dramas but I will watch that forreal.

-Haeyi’s mom showing up out of nowhere is literally a waste of story time 🙄 I don’t think they could do anything in the story that would make me think otherwise.

-Literally jail for both Sua’s mom and Sunjae’s mom. 🙄 Like literally. I would say Sua’s mom is the biggest villain but Sunjae’s mom comes so close especially with the way she treats her other son? Nah. These women deserves nothing.

This is the first time I watch a Korean survival show because I’ve always just watched the Chinese ones (idk why, I just fell into it by chance 😂) and I wasn’t even gonna watch this but I really wanted to love it because they were really selling an internationally mixed group and OHHHH BOY, I hate myself for believing that this was actually gonna be that. I just watched ep. 3 & 4 and im so mad at how biased/cooked this show is!! Like why even bother bringing in these international trainees when theyre basically just gonna keep on going with the theme of dunking on the international trainees, basically showing off that only koreans can do kpop? Call me blind but those performance didn’t call for 6 out of 7 going to the K group. Also, rooting for Hui but Jay absolutely slayed those vocals. Ughhh I hate it here 😤😭

I’m barely on ep. 14 so Idk yet how this ends but I just wanna say something about Ling Ting.

I’ve never taken LT’s feelings for HXX seriously but after the letter in ep. 14, I just know LT is not really in love with HXX anymore and he’s more just in love with the idea of her and them being together. At this point, he has been hanging out with SMX alot already and his actions look like he enjoys being around SMX and that he cares about her but because he’s been so stuck pining for HXX for 15 years, he wont give it up even if he doesn’t feel like that anymore. Now, I think he and SMX will end up together because after he officially gets rejected by HXX, he can finally realize that he’s just fine because he’s not really in love with HXX anymore and that the one he likes is actually SMX so the turnaround in his feelings is fine. But for any woman, Idk if SMX is gonna be able to accept that turnaround given the love letter and the hurtful things he said to her in ep. 14. 🥺

This drama has me wrapped around its little fingers 😭😭😭 SOOOO SOOO GOOD. I can’t wait for next week but at the same time dreading for it to come closer to the end.

Because typical kdrama would point to the assistant. But more than that, all the characters that got killed has been someone that Chiyeol complained to his assistant about. Also the brother has been obviously distraught after seeing the other math teacher dead. The drama is obviously placing him as a fake-out to the real murderer.

Hahaha same!! They’ve always somehow felt like they always come back to each other anyway and the reason for separating never felt final, but even so I’ve never cared whether they were gonna get back together because they both still have growing to do. But now that Oh Hara is leaning into her love and Goo Eunbeom allowing himself not to miss a second chance, I somehow feel so happy and excited for them 😂 Will it be messyier soon enough? Im sure, but this is romcom afterall, I’m very hopeful for a good ending.

LOL same. Like I didn’t care for if they were gonna get back together or not, but now that she’s fully leaning into her real feelings and he’s letting it happen makes me kinda excited for them.
