I might be alone in this so pls be kind but I didn’t like the way the story handled the lead up to the main leads officially dating. For a couple of reasons so hear me out:
1. I don’t know if it’s just an old fashion thinking, I like to think I am very open-minded, but they always revert back to their student/teacher relationship. They have been years removed from that, they are now co-workers, they are both adults. But to push the romance forward, it seemed like the story is pulling so much romanticized emotions from when they were student/teacher. The part where Junho sent Hyejin a picture of her sticky notes from that part of their life that sent her spiraling kinda solidified this for me. I get that they both have some feelings for each other stemming from that time but do we need to be reminded every single time that they had this kind of dynamic before?
2. Putting myself in Hyejin’s shoes, Junho felt very pushy. Normally, I like a ML who is very resolute in their pursuit but in this instance, it feels like the FL has so much to lose. She’s the older woman in this dynamic who was once the teacher of the ML. Her good reputation can be destroyed by this relationship easily. She said so herself in episode 8. But it doesn’t seem like Junho care all that much about that part or he just doesn’t think it’s a big deal. He thinks it’s too old school of thinking (which is true). But reality is, they live in that kind of society. He’s a new teacher. He doesn’t have much to lose. She does. That scene when he tried to threaten her of exposing that they were together just so she wouldn’t insist on going to work? It felt so icky. I get that he said it because he cares and he wants her to get treated but saying that kind of thing is so below the belt. Again, he doesn’t really see it as a big deal but he knows Hyejin clearly thinks the optics would not look good, especially for her. She will be the one that people will villainize.
Idk! I’m goad they are together now, their chemistry together is insane and they bring out the fun in each other but just the lead-up is my issue.

I felt the same! I felt so stressed in ep. 7 and 8 because he kept pushing and insisting they talk about his feelings and to have that relationship. She said no a few times and he just dismissed it as her being old fashioned. As the older woman in their dynamic, she would have so much to lose. Why can’t she have the time to process things first? But no, just because Junho already confessed, he has to have a resolution. This makes me feel frustrated.
The other thing is the part when he threated to blackmail her if she doesn’t get treated and follow his orders. It felt so controlling.

Exactly! These students and their mothers don’t care about their hagwon politics but they are only there because she’s clearly the best teacher. If their kids are getting just any teacher, they could get that anywhere else 😂
I don’t understand why the director and asst. director think Seo Hyejin can’t take her students away when she leaves that academy if they’ve already given her students to other teachers LOL as a student, I would 100% follow the teacher that gave me good results and not just rely on what the academy gives me. They should’ve been giving Hyejin everything she asks for instead of antagonizing her. Part of me really wants her to leave and make them pay.
On another note, maybe its because they were student/teacher but the end of episode 6 makes this romance feels to me like its somehow forbidden (and exciting) even though I know in my brain their age gap is not that big and that was a decade ago.
I admit I wanted more sexual tension between them before the kiss..like something in the rain was beautifully…
Absolutely this! I feel like they just relied on Junho going back and forth about actually going for Hyejin as the tension between the two but I would’ve appreciated it if they extended that a little bit more into full out flirting with her first— might’ve given that kiss more depth and fire.
I’m not done yet but all I gotta say is Jiacheng needs to stop meddling in other people’s business and worry about his own relationship issues first. I’m so glad his sister called him out.
I think it says more about the Korean Education System having this kind of response/ sentiment about 1 scene in a new fictional drama… like do ya’ll not think people can handle the very complicated thinking that this scene is just a fictional work? Ot’s crazy that this is the hill they’re choosing instead of the many bullying and violent school depictions out there.
If I see Park Sung Hoon again in another drama, it would’ve been TOO soon! I wish they left the makjang storyline along with Haein’s tumor right before the surgery and just gave us a beautiful love story in the end, but I guess all’s well that ends well 🥹
