Reading the comments and I'm confused as to why people are so obsessed with wanting to see the recovery process of Ai's surgery? Have people considered that since most of this is coming from the perspective of Ai (and the real life person she's based on) that maybe she felt the post-op recovery moments weren't a pivotal part of her story? She's literally doing dance numbers in the streets, if you want a 100% accurate depiction of what it's like to be trans from surgery prep to post-op recovery, then maybe consider watching a documentary??
From watching the film, it's very apparent that Ai is a whimsical person, I can understand why she wouldn't harp on the post-op pains. Also, has anyone considered what the filmmakers goals were for this film? Or considered that since this film appears to be a film for LGBTQ+ people and not an LGBTQ+ story made with straight consumption in mind (because there is a difference), so why do LGBTQ+ have to experience or relive every single painful moment in a movie if we obviously already know what happens?
Very good movie. From a technical stand point, each scene was shot beautifully and the actors all did a great job. The pacing was very good, nothing felt like it dragged or was moving too fast. Where I do think the film lacks is that some of the writing felt a little surface level, I wish there was just a bit more depth. However, this is still one of the best representations I've seen of a trans person's story in a while, not just within Japanese media but also Western media.
As a queer person, there were definitely moments that touched me and that I related to. What is beautiful to see is that it is not all doom and gloom for LGBTQ+ people. The happy moments felt extremely joyful, you can't help but smile and gives a good balance to those tear-jerking moments. I can't really say anything else without spoiling the movie but I will just end my comment by saying, I appreciate the obvious care both the actors and production team put into this. This movie feels very genuine.
I love the idea of this drama more than the execution. I think my issue is mostly with the direction. I think the casting is fine, but I wish they directed the dialogue in certain scenes to be paced a bit better. I also think the dialogue felt a bit surface level, but that's on the writing too. And from a more fangirl perspective lol, I kinda wish we got more from the kiss at the end. All that sexual tension in previous episodes just to have a very safe kiss was interesting. Overall, a good drama but could've been even better!
Watched this movie on a plane and was so into it, I didn't realise the flight attendant came around with snacks. Honestly, I thought it was just gonna be the movie Speed but with a train instead of a bus. But it was even more exciting than that! There were moments I was literally on the edge of my seat. It's a pretty exciting movie.
Started off fine, but each episode felt very repetitive, even down to the final episode. There was no character development. It was a cliche plot, which not necessarily a bad thing, but when there's nothing special to enhance that kind of plot, then the drama can become boring and very forgettable. Chae Jong Hyeok was very good in the role though - really good acting.
good drama. the acting is great, the writing is good as well. I just wish the direction was a bit better. felt like there were some scenes that could've been directed and edited better to create even more tension and give some scenes just a bit of a better flow. but still good.
side note: conversations that happened in the last two episodes should be the kind of conversations you have with your partners well in advanced.
great movie. the drama was already very well done and the movie continues on with everything I loved about the drama. the actors are phenomenal in their roles. the cinematography is outstanding! beautiful characterization. this movie would've gotten a 9, but it just missed it because I felt like the B plot with the other characters was a little a little lackluster. but I love this movie. I'm excited to watch the 2nd season.
this was such a great watch. I'm really in awe at how great they did executing this drama. simple setup and setting that is complimented by having realistic dialogue and great, natural acting. I laughed, I cried, I felt tension. so good!
I wasn't sure what to expect from this. I thought it was going to be just something for their fans or something super fanservice-y. But this was a pleasant watch. I enjoyed it. A kind of slice of life drama. I appreciate the mockumentary style and also appreciate the scripted moments because the acting was very good. A simple and good watch.
not as bad as the comments make it out to seem. for a short form drama, it's decent. the actors take the roles seriously which is nice considering this is a lower budget production. all the actors were good. I only had an issue with Kim Dong Bin's acting, everyone else was good. the storyline is pretty similar to KinnPorsche. I think if this drama had longer episodes and more time to really execute the storylines, it would be just as good as KinnPorsche. overall, not that bad. just decent. I've definitely seen regular, full-length dramas with way worse acting, writing and editing.
this is just too short to fully get any real storyline going. if there is more, then this is a really good start to the series. I am intrigued to see what happens next.
For a mini series, they really put a lot into this. The sets were great, the cinematography really good, and the acting also very good. It is very troupey but well executed. The plot needed more time to develop and also work out the minor potholes, I can only imagine how much more great this drama would've been if the episodes were even 30 mins long. Or even a few episodes longer.
Very nostalgic feel for anyone who remembers how BLs used to be before they were more mainstream... I think this movie has some very good points such as very good acting and some very good cinematograpy. I can understand why the overall rating is around a 6, as this movie will definitely not be everyone's taste. However, it is good from a technical standpoint and especially good as it does do a very good job at provoking emotions (at least for me it did) and I couldn't stop watching.
This drama is just a big advert for Japan. The focus is on showcasing and telling you about how great Japan is. The actual plot is so bare that it's practically nonexistent. It's not the worst drama I've seen, because the editing was fine, the cinematography is good and the acting was okay (P Ekkapop was the standout - he was really good). I just wish there was more of a plot and some actually interesting dialogue between characters. Also seems there may be a sequel based on how it ended? Hopefully it is better.
Completely understandable. I don't trust it either, but if the subs are decent I may try out the website anyway, especially since it looks like it has a lot of dramas and movies on it.
