Some don't like slow burn romances. Shortly after this, Lin ends up in a life/ career changing car accident while he was on his way to meet XG for the first time on a date at "her" request as communicated by his friend. This scene is important to understand the ML's behaviour so if you haven't seen this properly, let me know as my explanation is too brief here TBH.
