Exactly! It felt quite realistic even if the idea of holding two weddings in secret is a rediculous idea. The son's anxiety and years of pressure that culminated to that moment was portrayed really well - even to the point where it nearly affected his beloved bride, almost repeating history🥲

Zou’s situation isn’t really as black and white as it seems though. She was a young girl (probably not even 19) when she was arranged to be a ghost bride. It’s not a typical widow’s situation. She essentially sold her soul for her family and in return received nothing. The fact that the Fus benefited from her sacrifice even wasn’t truly appreciated.

Yes, she was delusional to expect the greedy and arrogant Fus to marry off their princess to her brother BUT given the psychological toll she went through for 10 years/ her entire youth being isolated, it’s not really a surprise that she cracked and went mad.

What she did was wrong and unforgivable but if you really think about it from her POV, at least it kind of is understandable why she hated Xie so much.

What I did was i kind of browsed through ep 33 and then skipped ep 34. Episodes 35-36+Special are fine again when you watch it 1.5X.

Exactly! I’m glad I waited till more episodes were out. The spoilers from ep 6 motivated me to continue. The disconnect with the vibe was too distracting since you know you are supposed to root for them but it’s wrong- specially since each episode purposely made the sister seem so sweet too🙈

Honestly the best hint was how TOO upbeat Natsuki’s family vibe in ep 1 was for a drama that’s hinting on glorifying about stealing your sister’s boyfriend. I almost wondered if there was a mistranslation (my goldfish memory didn’t register the fact that she said “boyfriend” in English)🙈🤦‍♀️

Given how he reacted and the slightly unsettling way she smiled, I’m guessing she’s a former partner who refuses to accept that they are no longer in a relationship.

If he was already in a relationship, then he could have just told Oji from the beggining itself to back off as he’s already in a relationship instead of dragging it (and even Oji’s phrasing in ep 3 also heavily implies that he things that Hinata is single) 😅

The movie was able to capture that essence quite well- specially in the child's perspective and how parents' "turf wars" can affect the child's decision making skills overtime.

Honestly I don't think it would have worked with Madam Yu in the longeun either. The mother is too ambitious for her own good and can be unreasonable.

You can see that while Xie was happy with her grandmother's arrangement, she was quite free spirited even back then. It was only a matter of time before she started to rebel. Especially since Xie's objective is to be kind to everybody whereas Yu's mother would do anything to get what she wanted -like mother like son- just that she's more shrewd😅

Honestly I feel bad for his mother. Imagine being an expert schemer only to be foiled time after time by your own clueless son (directly and indirectly)? 🤦‍♀️

Bro thinks he is the tortured main lead when he’s just an expendable side character. I’m guessing since he feels betrayed by his wife’s flakiness and has realized too late that Xie in fact has all the qualities he admires, he’s living in denial. Only the fool doesn’t even know how to repent or accept defeat so he keeps digging his own grave.
