If an actress is cast first, it usually means she’s top-billed lead and her co-star is more likely to be a rising, rookie, younger actor without a major breakthrough yet. But when an actor is cast first, he can often secure a trendy, popular, high-profile actress as his co-star.

I think the same approach should be applied to actors, pair them with promising, rising, rookie actresses. There are many beautiful, talented actress, like Lee E-dam who is clearly lead material, just waiting for the right opportunity. She should be cast as a lead alongside a top-tier, popular actor in a potential hit drama as soon as possible.

Everybody's pouncing on BWS for bad acting and I don't disagree. What bothers me more is how IU doesn't suit this…
I’ve come across a lot of comments about it and I agree. I haven’t watched it yet, but there are these cutely comedic, cringe scenes where she just can’t pull it off. It’s nothing new...There were one or two moments like that in WLGYT, some in HDL and many in Moon Lovers. It feels obvious that she’s acting, you can somehow sense her discomfort, which makes the scenes feel quite cringe, uncomfortable, not natural ar organic. Her strength lies in melo, sad, serious, dramatic and realistic characters. Once the story shifts into a more emotional and serious phase, especially with only 12 episodes it come sooner, we’ll see how she really shines.

So excited for this to start! I am feeling confident in this drama from the teasers, the chemistry is there and…
I’ve read in many interviews that Kactors often receive only the first four episodes before deciding whether to join a project. It seems like a lot of it comes down to trusting the writer not to mess up later on.
For example, Typhoon Family had a decent/good 4 episodes, but after that it really went downhill. What surprises me is that the writer even won a script contest. I still don’t understand how that happened...
These days, my personal rule is: if the writer is a rookie and the script is original (not based on a webtoon or novel) I wait at least 6 episodes, sometimes even 8, before starting, just to be safe, while still having the experience of watching it ongoing, alongside everyone else.

I honestly can’t understand why ,,Suddenly Intern" got the prime slot. Other than the fact that the original web novel is by the writer of Reborn Rich (not enough reason for me), but it’s being adapted by the creator of the Pandora mess... It’s not like ljy has the pull to carry a weekend drama and the Friday time slot for the next project was/is still open.

Person Park Ji Eun
If I had to choose my fave kdrama writer, it would be her. I just hope the actors I like get to work with her and yeah, I’m really, really excited for Soul.

And now the anti-age gap and anti-romance crowd will start gathering in in this kdrama comments every week, just like clockwork. They are actors and acting is their job. If there is even a slight romance, it would be good for this genre or this kind of writing (human, depressing, realistic slice of life, healing, psychological), it would attract more general audiences in Korea, which would help boost TV ratings. The previous kdramas by this writer, My Mister and My Liberation Notes, had highest ratings of 7.3% and 6.7%, respectively. Adding a slow-burn, subtle love line could create more buzz and potentially achieve higher ratings than Park Haeyoung's previous works.
And p.s. Kyohwan acted with Moon Gayoung, who is the same age as GYJ, in a romance movie (you know with kisses and some skinship) and people loved it, it was a box office success.

2 episodes in the same day? Is it some new format they are testing (like 12 episodes which is now standard) or…
Yeah, JTBC started a new Friday slot by airing two consecutive episodes on that day. The first Friday drama was Lee Dong-wook’s ,,The Nice Guy", followed by Song Joong-ki’s ,,My Youth", and then Seo Hyun-jin’s ,,Love Me" and now this. So this format has been continuing for quite some time)))

The concept is interesting. I love IU, but I’m not sure about ml and I don’t know how I’ll feel about it yet. I want to like it. Anyway, regardless of that, it will be fascinating to see how it performs in TV drama ratings, especially with the competition it will face and the overall buzzworthiness, both for the drama and the actors, who will lead it.

Just my two cents on the discussion below.
Go younjung has received until now strong script and production offers, so there’s no reason to be dishonest about it. Hopefully, it continues this way.
For example, her last two hits... Resplay is a spin-off of the hugely popular Hosplay. About the drama’s creator, Shin Wonho and the writer behind Resplay: she was the assistant writer for Hosplay and Reply 1988, while he directed also entire Reply trilogy as well as Prison Playbook. They are very well known, especially Creator Shin Wonho, for consistently producing hits, casting hidden gems and discovering new talent. There was hardly any chance of it flopping and Gyj was first billed.

For CTLBT, the director was not a rookie and it was written by Hong Sisters, the star writers behind hit dramas like ,,Alchemy of Souls" and ,,Hotel Del Luna". Not to mention the first-billed ml, Kim Seonho, who had already proven his brilliant romance acting in romcom Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha. That drama caused a huge syndrome at the time, generating massive buzz in SK and overseas. He even topped the Gallup poll back then. It was truly that popular. What were the chances of CTBLT flopping?

Now, this new drama is written by another critically acclaimed star writer who penned ,,My Mister" and ,,My Liberation Notes". It is directed by the ,,Welcome to Samdal-ri" director and also stars, alongside gyj, experienced Senior and charismatic first-billed actor Koo Kyohwan. There is very very little chance it will go badly.
She is truly talented, with very convincing acting. She creates strong chemistry with her romantic partners, giving back synergy, is a pleasure to watch on screen and bonds well with her castmates. But up to now, she has consistently been in the hands of very strong, high‑profile productions and respected, hit writers/directors.There’s no need to be unfair about it.

Can someone tell which has more viewership in netflix wlgyt after all 16 ep were out or this drama? Just curious
WLGYT was released from March 7 to March 28, with four new episodes every week. This format clearly gave it an advantage in building hype, as it wasn’t dropped all at once like CTLBT.
Looking at the three-week results (Since CTLBT is three weeks old and now in its fourth ongoing week)... for WLGYT:
Week 1: 4th place — 3.6M views
Week 2: 2nd place — 6M views
Week 3: 1st place — 5.5M views
In total, WLGYT accumulated 15.1M views in its first three weeks, with four new episodes released each week.

Now for CTLBT:
Week 1: 2nd place — 4M views
Week 2: 1st place — 9M views
Week 3: 1st place — 4.3M views
In total, CTLBT reached 17.3M views in its first three weeks.

So overall:
WLGYT: 15.1M views
CTLBT: 17.3M views

In the end, both topped the chart twice (as of now,for CTLBT, but who knows... The drama is still charting). WLGYT also topped the chart a second time, later, in its fifth week. However, as mentioned, it had a significant advantage.

Title Cashero
I love Chaemin ever since BAYM, but I honestly don’t understand the gushing over him here, unless it’s 100% about his handsome face and height. He was basically just standing there serving face. There was no character background, no development, no real acting required and no chemistry with anyone, just handsomely smirking.
Junho’s main character wasn’t attractive either (Honestly, no one was and that's the problem). His acting didn’t help and once again (for the second time after Typhoon Family), there was zero chemistry with his female lead. I couldn’t get attached to a single character. The plot and writing felt bland, dull and at times even frustrating.
Junho really needs to choose his scripts more carefully. Next time, please work with a solid, established writer.

Finished this finallllly, after dragging it out because I was not ready to part with it yet 😭😭This was chaos…
I’ll say this again: for me, the Hong sisters main problem has been that their recent leads lacked chemistry, like AoS 1 (AoS 2 was a pleasant surprise) and Hotel Del Luna. Even without strong chemistry, I still gave those dramas high scores cuz the plots were that entertaining.
This time, though, they hit the jackpot. The main couple had sizzling chemistry and the plot was genuinely fun,an easy 10/10 for me.
On Can This Love Be Translated? Jan 24, 2026
This is the first time ever that I’ve gotten obsessed with and attached to a Netflix original kdrama. There are many high-quality, moving, suspenseful and interesting ones, but even with a masterpiece like wlgyt, for me it’s a one-time experience.
Here, we have a beautiful, adorable couple with sizzling chemistry and a delightful love story (no childhood connection, no worshipped first love). There’s excitement and even an interesting twist. It really feels like a fairytale and you end it with a big smile. After that, there’s an urge to rewatch it again. It’s extremely beautiful, lovely and rewatchable.

P.S. I’m so addicted to Wendy’s OST Daydream, keep listening to it again and again))

I miss the days of MDL before K-dramas became popular world-wide
You can literally see the hatred from many comments, trolls, bots, and people giving the lowest ratings. Many of them dropped the drama, skipped scenes, maybe episodes or watched at 2x speed and still rated and reviewed it.
So many little details are missed: performances, gestures, glances, subtle changes in facial expressions, dialogue delivery, so so many things that make drama truly delightful. And I just wonder… why? Like, why even bother at all?!

Kim Eun Sook, Park Ji Eun and now Hong Sisters' latest dramas have had disappointing writing. These hyped scriptwriters…
Nah, I was obsessed with last PJE drama. I had so much fun with Genie and I also liked all the Hong Sisters works. My only issue with the sisters is that their main pairings usually lack chemistry (for me), but the plots are always entertaining. Out of everything I’ve watched from them, the only time I really got butterflies was in Alchemy of Souls 2 with the GYJ/LJW pairing (10/10). If this drama also gives me a fun plot and strong main couple chemistry, that’s an easy 10/10 for me.

Junhoya, if you work on a future project that involves a love story of 20 years old ml or close to that, please don’t make the same mistake as Seojoon. Let them hire a child actor or push back if they suggest otherwise. It’s time for everyone to accept that some actors can no longer play certain ages, roles or genres. If you’re not especially baby-faced and your body also doesn’t support it (for much much younger characters) it breaks immersion (*cough* Weak Hero Class 2 *cough*). Let’s go for age-appropriate roles.

Massive LJH fan, I own most his albums incl solo work and 2pm, and watched everything he has acted in. Literally…
I gave it a 7, even though it honestly feels like a 6 to me too. A lot of that score comes from Junho’s efforts, also I loved first four episodes and some heartwarming moments.

I know Junho is the chemistry king; he can literally melt everything with just a loving gaze. But even he couldn’t create chemistry with his partner here. He looks at her lovingly, calls her pretty and she just stands there like a wall, not reciprocating at all. There’s no synergy. Even when they started dating, it still wasn’t there.

TRS had a strong script, complex, multidimensional characters and great romantic chemistry. KTL had an average, cliché romcom script, but sizzling, hot ml/fl chemistry. Here, everything is weak: a script that goes nowhere, the IMF plot that felt like it was added just for picture, a pointless, annoying villain father/son duo, repetitive business plot, no teamwork chemistry and no ML/FL romantic chemistry.

Honestly, if it weren’t for Junho, it wouldn’t even get 5% of the tv ratings.

Cuz he is 20 years old (just like FL) in that poster, seems they used makeup and filters to make him look younger.
