I want to be at least a little bit careful until we know more. KSH is both a person and a brand product. He does lots of stuff on his own and he does lots of stuff with his team. And people do stuff in his name. Somebody else could have done that trade with or without his knowledge. As a major owner of GM he still has to take responsibility. But that doesn't mean he would be personally prosecuted for this, if it's true (and assuming anyone at all does.)
And besides, there are plenty of other reasons to call out and mock Kim Soo Hyun!
Anytime studio executives are also evil villains, you can expect them to be smart. And smart evil villains always put layers of fall guys in place to take the heat, in their place.
If you're not familiar with the basic words in Korean, you'll miss the context in some dialogues in E08.For example,…
Thank you for this.
And yes, I envy those who have taken the time and made the effort to learn Korean so they might better appreciate K-Dramas (and for other reasons.) As these subtitle issues keep cropping up, I am increasingly motivated to follow their lead, as you suggest.
i saw on twitter that using the "English" subtitles is better than using "English CC" because "English CC" uses…
Quite so. I saw something similar in a comment earlier on this page.
I have in the past—while following a drama I especially enjoy—watched episodes multiple times, first with subtitles, than again via CC captions, and finally (if available) with English dubbing.
This last option is nice because I can to listen while doing chores. It helps me pass the time and also remember details while I am waiting for the next episode to drop.
Goblin is a fictional story. How tf do you relate with a 900 yo immortal dating a 19-29 yo? Seriously? And if…
(I no wanna hijack this thread or distract from your good points, but IMO that story is creepy as hell! What were those dwarves doing to her sleeping body for 100 years? Eww!)
to everyone saying that ksr agreed on their dating or stuff, stfu she was only 15, have u guys ever being groomed…
Thank you for sharing this. People who haven't experienced this can never truly understand. What you went through was indeed horrible & wrong. I empathize with your suffering and its aftereffects. I wish you well in coming to terms with and surpassing your past traumas!
Because there's no point writing a 3 line long subtitle like VIKI does it. It's nonsense! You don't need to translate…
Thank you for this. I've switched back & forth between CC and standard subs (and also audio dubs) in the past. My only complaints are with the additional captions for the seeing-impaired such as [Music], [Sound of waves crashing], etc. which interrupt the flow. But when the story is as good as I expect this one to be, it'll still be worth it!
OK I saw a headline and read this so I rushed right over to check out all of your comments about Netflix' subtitles. Here we go again:
"Fans have pointed out that the English subtitles fail to capture the deeper meaning and emotional nuance of the original script. Many complained that lines were translated too literally, stripping them of their intended cultural context."
I was about to start this, a little late so I can binge a few while catching up. And while I'm not dreading any geo-political controversies to arise, I would appreciate that the nuances inherent in the original Korean be satisfactorily translated. To me this means striking a balance between literal validity and literary authenticity via a deft touch which requires both expertise and experience.
Never have I more envied those of you who have taken the time and made the effort to learn the language so you might enjoy K-dramas more directly!
Can't wait to see how tastefully they handle dieting and weight in this one. This has major "Oh my venus" energy
IMO a couple of those fried chicken restaurant photos handle her situation very "tastefully". Assuming they maintain a deft approach to this sensitive topic, this looks to be hilarious!
The Pope came out with a book this week which contains a series of essays about faith and morality in today’s secular world and the changing role of the Catholic church in the 21st century. The book is entitled, 'God Himself Told Me that Kim Soo Hyun Is Guilty.'
Although this looks suspicious, things aren't always what they seem. I don't defend or accuse anyone. I'm not…
Sorry I deleted my post. I wanted to allow you the last word and didn't expect another reply. I share your values and appreciate how you stand up for and articulate them.
