Anyone who read the novel will know that Zhou Yiran and Bao Shangen really match the characteristics of the main lead in the novel, and after all the trailer and promotion video/reuters and short video of them when their act as the characters really portray Mu Qingyan (sinister, cunning but youth face card) and Cai Zhao (Cute, smart, but strong aswell) so well, that's why i love this drama the story and actor/actress itself really match the expectation as far for now.
Sorry if this opinion might see me gloryfying them but it's just my opinion about this drama.
In the novel the two main leads have Happy end and get together, but in the drama i don't know yet because it not aired yet, but i hope is the same like in the novel end with HE

For the first question i don't know about that. For the novel yess they have it, you can read it in this recent discussions you can touch the link by WatchingTVseries and read it there. For the role Zhou Yiran here will have 2 identity, first he will be Changning and second the real identity of him is Mu Qingyan, the role of him in this series is leader of the demon sect (Mu Qingyan), and when he disguise himself as Changning he will be the son from Chang family massacre that wanted to seek revenge for them. For Bian Tianyang he will be Fan Xingjia the disciple of the Qingque sect (righteouss sect) he is the fifth senior brother of the FL in the sect and he is good/expert when it comes to medication skills. (That's far i remember from the novel) (maybe another people can fill the blank if i still less explaining of the roles or correct it if i'm wrong).

Sorry this is spoiler, in the novel the main leads have Happy End and married, but they accomplish all of this Happy end with many struggle and hardwork so maybe that's why people say this bittersweet romance

Guys i'm purely asking, i saw at X post that's the episodes of this drama being trimmed from 40 to 37 is it true ? i really don't know wheres to ask and hopefully some of you guys know the latest information. I'm sorry i'm being noisy but you guys know how much the angst from this drama will be just from the novel story and trailer itself like their angst and struggle are long until their finally have happy end 😭like i want my MumuZhaozhao have long happy end moment too because you know the peak is when all of your angst and struggle being payed off by the happy end in the end is the most satisfying end.
