Honestly all these comments about always acting cute. I'm 30 AND I act cute around people I'M CLOSE TO. And in the drama, she's ABOUT 19! Like I'm sorry you don't have a single cute cell in your body. Go away and let us have our peace since some of us are actually enjoying the drama. NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO WATCH!
episode 9 jiang mu dreams of kissing him.episode 13, accidental peck on the cheek.ep 14 at the end a preview of…
They've known a long time. Don't know if it's a subtitle thing but they actually have a conversation about it in ep 4 or was it ep 3 and they confirm that they've both known for a long time
Yeah, I'm confused where people are getting the idea that she's 19? It never said that. She enrolled in the same…
Yes, the drinking alone is enough to clue us in that she is not minor at the very least otherwise no way would China's censorship let that pass. I wish the show would be more explicit, but pretty sure she's legal/an adult
I watched and binged it blind, and surprisingly really enjoyed it. If you just watch it for what it is (a fictional/fantasy comedy), it's a funny show with lots of unserious moments, but also heart when it matters. Extended happy ending too!
First, it's an adaptation. So I beg to differ, episode 13-26 is the reason why the angst is not draggy. Moreover,…
Can see your point. But that's also it. It would have been good to see if they actually broke their control on their emotions. For me, anyway, I was waiting for that kind of expression of their feelings.
I still love the drama! Just nitpicks and ep 13-26 is the reason why I can't rewatch this drama in full. Too much flailing around.
Coming back to give my final thoughts after letting the drama sink in for a couple of hours.
Overall, I enjoyed this drama!
It was one of the few dramas where the run home was as good as (if not better) than the beginning episodes. The romance is also very strong (honestly the only reason I held on during the draggy middle). And best of all, the drama had a very very happy and nonrushed ending.
The drama loses some points for me though on the following: - The middle was too draggy (honestly from ep 13-26, they could have cut up to 4 episodes and it would have made the drama tighter). There was too much politics/princes drama that didn't really mean much in the end, the sorcerer's schemes felt so random because he would just pop in here and there, and the removing of the Jade thing took forever. The drama could have really benefited with better arcs (again the middle felt so long because there was no anchor where we were at in the story). Majority of the time I was wondering where the story was going (while waiting for Prince Annan's arc, cause there really wasn't that much going on other than the romance (which is really the saving grace of this show!). - Second point is the angst wasn't enough! I mean, we got some angst and it was good, but I was waiting for some sort of peak or explosion of emotion where they finally confront each other (or at least one confronts the other), and then they break down and bare their feelings! And they still could have separated after (for the same reason that drama already gave). There was so much potential on the parting scene where Shuang'er rejected the hairpin, or even the carriage ride where Prince Annan said he remembered he fell in love with a woman in Taijin. I was really waiting 😭. So the resolution to Yao State's arch was a little bit flat for me. But it was still good! Way better than the draggy middle. - Also, Prince Annan's arc should have been introduced earlier. Again, I felt the progress of removing the Jade Linglong (is this the right name haha) was too longgg, like literally. The process should take long, of course, since it's not an easy task but it could have stayed in the drama lol not in the actual number of episodes. It felt like nothing much was really happening between ep 21-26.
The good points though! - When episode 27 rolled in, pacing was good again! The last 8-10 episodes really upped this drama's impression on me. - The romance! I really liked our main couple and their romance. Jin An was such a cinnamon roll 🥺 and I adore him and his adoration for Li Shuang. I loved their development, their influence on each other, not to mention their hugs are so soft! When they hug each other with these soft smiles on their faces and then soft background music plays, I just melt. Everything looks so soft! (Forgive my lack of vocab lol) When Duan Aodeng came into the picture, I was worried for a second that the magic would be broken, but theirs was different kind of dynamics, and the tension between the main leads upped even more. And it really could have been so much more if their angst reached its peak. But I will gladly accept what we got, especially with how everything was resolved. There was plenty of time for everyone, and JinAn and Li Shuang in the last few minutes was everything 🥹
Thank you Shadow Love for being a good watch! Solid 8.7!
The same way as I don't have to read these same recycled comments so auto block
Also to OP, I think Lilac just means you articulate so well (at least that's why I'd want to see your review too when the show ends).

Ep 12 dual fighting scenes was amazing!
And let's not mention that criminal of a cliffhanger ending!!!
