I know and they are they most unattractive pair of shorts too!
I've watched a number of C and K dramas where the FL is wearing shorts like these. They are very masculine looking and dowdy. (I once saw a commenter in another thread refer to them as old man golfer shorts.)
I can't imagine in reality that any young Chinese woman wears such shorts!! This is a romance - just dress the FL in a skirt.
I can’t picture her with zhi zou. First because I hate guys that can’t accept a no. Second because I feel…
I was really interested in LL and XYX relationship at first but the writers just couldn't be arsed to actually put even the smallest bit of energy into developing their storyline. They never wrote any scenes where they explore what is keeping their relationship at a standstill. I don't see XYX as a selfish scum. XYX experienced one of the most traumatic events a married man can - the death of his wife in childbirth!!! He probably feels all sorts of emotions - like incredible guilt. But nothing deep is ever explored.
I'm loving the drama so far. The story is beautiful so far, and the intro music is engrossing.
I'm enjoying it too. I find it very atmospheric and the plot is interesting so far. I'm wondering if the FL will turn out to be a deeper character than she appears.
I am at 26th, some how I am getting bored. only me ?
I get you. Cdramas need to up their game. So many of the plots are just rinse and repeat. There is really nothing to engage with when it's pretty much the same plot you've seen ten times before. Also there never seem to be any extremes of emotion. Maybe it's a cultural thing? But there have been situations where I would expect a character to naturally react with annoyance or anger, and their reaction is just neutral.
Wen Xiaoliu is someone who is a survivor, 'he' acts cool and uncaring but 'he' is still Xiaoyao on the inside...The…
Your take is interesting but she seemed to me to be in charge of her life when disguised as a man. She seemed a person of actions and decisions. As a princess, she just goes with the flow.
Am I the only one who preferred Xiao Yao's character when it was disguised as a man? Once she became the princess, her character suddenly seemed so passive.
I thought it was very realistic how they addressed this issue. She isn't that bad but I don't like her either.…
I agree. Why did Yichan bring her to the party before they had gone public about their relationship? But yeah, it was just a plot device. I'm not invested in them at all. I find both of them very boring.

I can’t stand her bestie. I wouldn’t be friends with someone like that. From the beginning she was in love…
Agree. I do not like that storyline at all. If they all remain friends after Yichan and the best friend get together, I will be pissed. IRF I think it would be most likely that the couple would be jettisoned.
It was the same in BCE with the FL and her first boyfriend. It's kind of an unwritten rule in c-dramas (and k-dramas…
Thanks for the insights. I do understand that some cultures are more reserved when it come to physical displays of affection. But then there seem to be these contradictions. Japanese and Taiwanese dramas are more explicit as are the short Chinese dramas. I think if the FL was just a bit more flirty that's all that would be needed to make the relationship more romantic.
