Basically, they both get reincarnated in modern times without any memories of their past lives. You could say that the soul is the same that gets born again. Only one soul keeps popping up in both timelines. The logic hasn't been properly explained yet as of ep 09. I am yet to watch the rest.
ZLS has chemistry with most. I am yet to watch Dating in the Kitchen. I wasn't sure I'd like it since I adored the movie version and love the main leads there.
DT is Daddi Tang. I keep wondering what possessed him or his family to name him such while thinking of English names. Or maybe there's some hidden significance while I can only think of what it entails in pop culture. 🤫🤭 Speaking of names, the Thai have such OTT nicknames. I once heard a Thai person explaining why many of them the nickname, 'Bank'. Many parents give their kinds this nickname in the hopes they grow up to be wealthy, LOL.
Crush was kinda meh. Tbh, I sat through it for WP. I became a fan after I saw her in A Year Without a Job. That drama made me a diehard admirer of the 3 main leads as well as the supporting cast. Jackie Li, Zhai Zi Lu and Wang Peng were amazing.
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
While I do believe he was attracted to her and cared for her well being in the way a mentor would; yet, in my opinion, SHM isn't in love with XY yet, though, his growing and quite intense feelings have made him realise that he'd fall helplessly in love with her sooner or later. It's just a matter of time. Also, XY has picked up on it, but the hurt is too recent and too raw for her to stop wanting a divorce. However, she is still in love with him. Because I am pretty sure no amount of money could have convinced her to go to the resort with him. Even though she is angry, hurt and disappointed, yet she still has his best interests in her heart.
OMG! Judith McNaught! That brings back memories. 😅 Many of the ideas contained in those novels made me see red. 🤷🏻♀️ However, ngl, her novels were my guilty pleasure. I totally get it. 😁
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
I have watched until episode 9 of FAT.
Huge spoilers! I would say that the very first timeline is based in historical times. Then the protagonists are born in the modern era. However, inspite of them meeting again, a tragedy separates them. Then one fine day, the ML comes across the FL again. From then on, due to separate tragic incidents, he keeps popping up at different times of the same timeline. They meet over and over again and keep getting separated.
About to watch episode 24 as I write. 🤣 Never would I have imagined ZLS and WC to have so much chemistry. Also, I want WP and DT in a drama of their own.
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
You hit the nail on the head! I have watched till episode 9. Somehow, for me, Fated Hearts isn't coming together. Hey, I forgot to mention, I am also watching For All Time starring Hei Ze (the shady lawyer here). I have watched him in CMinis before and he is a good performer. The drama is no masterpiece, yet, I enjoy watching it. It involves a man in love with a childhood acquaintance who is supposedly dead. I watched him previously in an '80s era CMini drama that got released in 2024 with Chen Fan Tong as the FL. It was hilarious. When I saw him pop here, I was like, are my eyes deceiving me, LOL.
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
EXACTLY! Love the term, "love diggers". 😅 Your analysis about his ex's behaviour makes a lot of sense. I had totally forgotten that she was an heiress.
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
Tbh, I don't know why I am not fascinated enough by it. The only reason I continue watching it because I have not come across any other long form historical drama that has truly grabbed my attention. Fated Hearts has everything going for it. Everything about it is as it should be. The actors are performing well and the story is interesting, yet, I am skipping through the episodes. I think one of the reasons why I am having trouble is because of CZY. He is a decent enough actor but his character that's supposed to send a chill down one's spine doesn't quite achieve that. 🤷🏻♀️ I guess that's because I have seen other actors perform such roles way better. CZY is performing well and exactly how he is supposed to but I am having trouble vibing with his overall performance. 🙈🤷🏻♀️ Also, the script isn't captivating enough for me as of now even though it has everything that I enjoy watching.
Seee this is the issue - he doesn’t have anybody to bro with unless they are on his payroll/ psychotic about…
SPOILERS (from beyond episode 10)!!!!
SHM fancies himself as some master manipulator but dude can be pretty clueless. Tbh, everyone says he is vile while XY's actions to ingratiate herself with his family were wrong yet come from a good place. However, I am of the opinion that both were equally wrong and I can see why he didn't trust her to have actually loved him. I disagree with her lies, yet, understand why she lied and how her childhood skewed up her perception of how she should come across his family. The difference between the two is that XY is quicker to realise that a sincere, loving relationship cannot be built on a foundation of lies and hidden truths. SHM is basically struggling to reconcile his original perception of her with the woman she actually is and this is why I can cut him slack. Also, I think his previous relationship did a number on him. It seems Fang Lei's sister wasn't exactly the most sorted individual either. If she indeed accidentally died in a diving incident, then, I'd say she is a bit irresponsible as a mother. Who leaves a months old child to do extreme sports? It wasn't like she went swimming. In her defense, she wasn't prepared to be a mother yet, but in my opinion, once she decided to go ahead with the pregnancy, she should have wised up. It's evident that Haochen isn't exactly close with his "ge". Can you imagine how SHM must have felt to have to keep up the charade with Haochen being the constant reminder of his dead ex girlfriend and having to deal with his cuckoo aunt? The poor guy needs therapy big time.

I admit I may have fast forwarded a bit. Can you kindly remind me the significance of 47? For the life of me, I cannot remember. I am totally seated for the time when he discovers Yu Yiming's childhood crush on Xu Yan, ROFL. P. S. : I also want to reply back at the usual place. I have a few things in mind, but got sidetracked by LA, LMAO. I have lots to say, LOL.
Subber is on vacation based on their website. Can't wait till Makoto finds out about him 🙈
Hey, hey, hey!!! No worries, dear. ☺
Yes, indeed. In the case of TPOB, the screenwriter elevated the original story.
I loved Reset! I had come by it randomly a few years ago and ended up binging the entire series overnight. This drama was my introduction to BJT and ZJM. Loved them and the supporting cast.
Ooh. I guess, I will give Mobius a try.
I don't feel like watching a mystery right now. So, I guess I will put TWD on hold for now.
I did!!! I absolutely loved it. Twelve Letters had actors I adore from their previous performances. In my opinion, it was Shen Cheng in the cafe which implies he was adopted. It also harks back to his revelation in the previous timeline of how he didn't actually enjoy being a dentist and loved sweets. In my head, all of them including that adorable security guard, her heavily pregnant best friend, Shen Cheng and Yu Nian will find their way to each other. Ngl, I was low key shipping SC and YN. 😁 Also, it moved me so much when I realised that the reason Ye Hai Tang refused to move abroad was so that she could honour her promise and visit Tang Yi Xun's grave every year. I would have loved more of them but I guess censorship stopped the makers from being too blatant.
I tell you, this is the year of female generals and ride or die female besties. Even though, Yu Nian's bestie didn't have much screentime, she was a hoot just like the one in Shadow Love.
I still don't get why I liked SL so much. I, for one, don't exactly pay much attention to looks. I guess I liked it because of the slow burn romance. 🤷🏻♀️
I love Speed! Watched it over a decade ago. It ended up making me crush on Keanu Reeves for a while. 🤫🤭
I am lagging behind on Khemjira. I am not the best at live watching. I have decided to wait till it concludes. Thai culture is very similar to South Asian (Hindu/ Buddhist) culture due to historical ties between these two regions. Thai language itself draws heavily from Sanskrit. It always makes me smile to see similar elements.
I am halfway through I Will Knock You and it's still adorable. 😁
My introduction to the SML from Silent was his debut series, Hiromiya. He was adorable in that and was really good for a rookie actor.
I don't think there's any talented person without a few skeletons in their closet. This is why I try to not read up too much on public figures. I'd like to believe that those who I admire are generally good people. 😅
WOACN was a lot of fun.
AIB is on my watchlist. Tbh, dystopia isn't my most favourite genre even though I enjoyed the heck out of reading and watching The Hunger Games and Divergent. 🤷🏻♀️ Make it make sense. Love Tao and Kento together. I first watched them in the asadora, Mare.
I have been watching a lot of Chinese mini dramas. I am watching Gemini and Spring Fever. I adore the ZZL who stars as the FL in both. In Spring Fever, the ML is Eddy Geng. He always performs well. In Gemini, I love the characterisation of the FL. The Tower of Whispers is a dark romance with a red flag ML who in his own twisted way cares about the FL. The story is sometimes morally questionable. Make of it what you will. However, I am loving the cast as well as the story. Love grey characters. 😅 I am also watching Twin Fates. A while back, I watched a mini drama titled Dream Like the True Love. The FL there is the epitome of dignity and resilience. I think it's the actress' debut and she can easily give some of the most established actresses a run for their money. What grace! The role demanded her to be quietly dignified and the FL served in spades. I am also watching Echoes of the Self.
I started watching Fated Hearts. It's good enough and for once, the FL is truly convincing as a female general. However, I am yet to feel absolutely charmed. I dunno, it doesn't make me want to binge watch. There are very few actresses who I find convincing in predominantly action roles in historical dramas. One of them being Dilreba Dilmurat.
Anpan is on my watch list. 😁
I also started watching Love's Ambition. Chinese dramas and their English titles... *sigh* I adore Wan Peng and she's the second female lead opposite Daddi Tang who I like too. [The first time I discovered his Christian (?) name, I went, "Woah...!". Somebody didn't do enough research. 🤭] I also like Zhao Lu Si from her previous performances. I known of William Chan for a long time but have never watched him in anything. In the drama, he is doing a good job and surprisingly, ZLS and he have chemistry.
However, no current drama has me absolutely besotted. 🤷🏻♀️
Subber is on vacation based on their website. Can't wait till Makoto finds out about him 🙈
Apologies!
Haha, no worries!
I feel TPOB is a true enemies to lovers romance. Most claim to be so but are childhood lovers' romance in disguise.
Shadow Love is such a curious case. I ended up loving it! It is strangely addictive once you get past your own expectations. It feels like an acid trip from the get-go, yet, a very watchable one. Don't expect a masterpiece. Its story is sort of engaging and weird in a good way (or may be not). WTF moments abound, with bizarre moments galore even if we consider the story's setting in the realm of magical realism. 😅 The extent to which you can suspend your disbelief is directly proportional to how much you may be able to enjoy it for what it is. There were certain things that did make me cringe and put me off such as the staging of the fights and their choreography itself, yet, the development of romance was so well done. One of the things I could not get past till the very end is how the FL uses a certain weapon (would not spoil for ya) in close combat. It took me out of being immersed in the story every time. I guess they were trying to be "cool" and ape video games. Nevertheless, the supporting characters did not feel like props or devices to move the romance along. I cannot believe I am saying this but SY and CL had really fantastic chemistry. SY wasn't mind blowing, yet, she sorta outdid herself and her performance worked. Also, the ultimate episode was very well executed. It wrapped up loose ends and was almost leisurely in its pace. I'd rate SL a solid 7.5/8. It hardly has any political intrigue and focused heavily on the romance making the show quite re-watchable. No masterpiece, but very enjoyable. I forgot to mention... the FL's BFF is a hoot! 😂
By RC, I meant Ryan Cheng, i.e., Cheng Lei. I felt too lazy to type out his entire name, LMAO.
Tbh, I was shocked as far as the ending of Xian Yu is concerned! We got a clear implication that both of them remember their adventures together. I was totally expecting it to conclude with the FL smiling at a distance at someone the viewers were prevented from seeing. 🤷🏻♀️
I haven't watched TWD even though I like the cast. It didn't receive the best reviews and some of the things that the viewers complained about seemed exactly the things I'd complain about while watching a drama. How high would you personally rate it? Me watching it depends on your thoughts.
ZYR plays the tortured soul well. I haven't watched The Lake House but it has been on my list for so effing long. Back in the day, I could not find any streaming platform to watch it on. I have a soft spot for both Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. 🙈
Yeah, Love, Take Two is all done. It's HEA, so you can safely watch it. (I checked... 😅)
I love action, however, I like historical action pieces a lot more. Till now, only The Long Ballad, Blossom and ADWAD have had some spectacular fight choreography which looked effortlessly cool.
OMG! I am watching Khemjira too. You know, I love romance, however, it needs to have atleast some proper story backing it up. So, this one seemed right up my alley. I love stories that draw from the local culture, so I started it. The CGI looks pretty good.
I have started another one from Thailand. It's I Will Knock You. I have wanted to watch it ever since I happened upon an edit from the show on YT. It looked so wholesome and adorable. 😁
I have been meaning to watch I Can Feel You Linger in the Air but it seemed too heavy at the time even though I relish watching melancholic stories. Also, I didn't feel like waiting for weeks for it to conclude. (I am a binge watcher. ) I guess I wasn't in the best headspace then and later forgot about it.
So true about Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite. Life was indeed their worst enemy. Their concerns and frustrations were relatable to even someone like me who is not part of their community.
I was so in love with Kieta Hatsukoi that I actually hunted down the manga and went through its later chapters which were raw! 🤣 The final chapters cover their plans after finishing school. The cast, including Meguro and Michi, were amazing. I watched Silent because of Meguro. Hands down, one of the most powerful pilot episodes in recent years. I am not exactly the biggest fan of the FL, but the rest of the cast?! They are powerful performers. It also didn't help that the FL could have been written better.
Ooh, Monster seems interesting.
Oooh, I knew Usotoki Rhetoric would be good. However, if it feels like something outta Enid Blyton's mysteries, I would enjoy the heck out of it. As a child, I had devoured most of her books and would have been a lifelong fan had I not discovered about her not so stellar personality. 🤫🤭
Yeah, Ebi Datte Tai Ga Tsuritai can be considered slice-of-lifeish, though it's not quite so. I'd say it is a simple romcom akin to a chick lit novel you'd pick up when you are truly bored.
Subber is on vacation based on their website. Can't wait till Makoto finds out about him 🙈
These days, I usually end up watching romance or comedies. Usotoki Rhetoric is on my to-watch-list. I recently finished watching a low stakes Japanese romcom called Ebi Datte Tai ga Tsuritai. It was cute and light hearted.
Ooh, I was looking at the comments on 10 things I want to do before I turn 40 just the day before. Also, I watched Ameagari no Bokura ni Tsuite which is a sweet little gem. Tbh, I haven't watched many BLs. That's because I don't like the very stereotypical portrayal of gay love in most dramas that usually seem to go for shock value to grab attention and not because it is required for the story, especially those outta Thailand. Some straight dramas do that too, I guess. However, what really puts me off is the fan service culture. Fans would not dare to behave similarly in the case of straight dramas, would they? It's telling that I, who usually has no idea about performers outside of their work, have come to be aware about the toxicity of fan culture. Having said that, I do enjoy watching queer stories done right. Keita Hatsukoi remains one of my favourites.
I saw the trailer for LOTFG, and was not sold on ZY's performance. It's a shame since like RC and some of the supporting cast. However, since you are recommending it, I might as well give it a try.
I am going to watch Twelve Letters too! I had been putting it off till all the episodes had been released. I guess now is a good time as any.
I have been thinking watching the Tempest. I came across a YT short and it seems the chemistry between the leads is fire. 😅 Also, I am planning to watch Love, Take Two.
I recently finished watching Xian Yu and Shadow Love. The former was a lot of fun. The latter had its flaws and was quite cringey at places, yet it also did some things right. I enjoyed both.
I am in the middle of watching Warm on a Cold Night since I wanted to watch something that starred LTY. Her performance in ADWAD has made me a fan. I have watched 18 episodes. The drama is engaging, however, it's nowhere as splendid as ADWAD which was nearly perfection. I also watched Destiny of Love. It was a decent watch, nowhere as horrible as the MDL comments would have you believe. Have you watched TPOB? It's really good too.
ZLS has chemistry with most. I am yet to watch Dating in the Kitchen. I wasn't sure I'd like it since I adored the movie version and love the main leads there.
