Well... My recommendations can go either way since shoujo dramas often have similar beats and a very typical style of acting that you would either really like or absolutely hate. Off the top of my head, Cinderella Closet, Takane to Hana, Tsuiraku JK to Haijin KyΕshi, Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi, Hiromiya, Keita Hatskoi, Kake kara Hajimaru Sayonara no Koi, Ebi Datte Tai ga Tsuritai, etc. are some dramas that you might enjoy. Also, not all of them are manga adaptations.

Hi! You understood exactly what I have been saying. A,NG is the kind of story that would totally collapse if it's not executed well onscreen. I'd say the Hirugao team made excellent choices, whether they are to do with casting, music, direction, colour pallette or script. Raul has certainly done his homework and it shows. One of my biggest concerns was whether his acting would disrupt my immersion into the universe of this drama. Happy to note that everyone, including Raul, is knocking it out of the park. π Also, it was difficult for me at first to wrap my head around Ryo san playing such a self-centered and deadbeat mother. However, now I absolutely detest her character. π

I usually avoid commenting on actors and/or performances if I end up abhorring them. ππ However, since Raul has proven me so wrong which is exceptionally rare, I am alright with disclosing what I thought of his acting skills before. He was a bit awkward in places in the first and second episodes, but by the third episode, I could only ever see Takamori and not him. π
P. S.: I had the same relationship with HLS, till one fine day I was so bored that I ended up viewing it. (It's a stretch to say so, but... oh well.)

Hello! Actually, I am pretty aware about shoujo mangas and the manner in which they get presented onscreen. I, for one, adore the Japanese style anime acting provided it is done well and makes my viewing experience an enjoyable one. Some of my favourite comfort watches are shoujo adaptations. There have been instances when I have been left awestruck by acting skills of teenagers onscreen in genres including romance and comedy. So, Raul being a teen at the time wasn't the issue. My issue with Honey Soda Lemon is to do with how insipid it is in every way. This is my opinion and it's alright if we are in disagreement. Thank you for positively engaging with me. π

Hey, hey, hey! I was absolutely annoyed, LMAO, which is rare since I don't exactly get triggered by bad acting. I just move on. I guess the movie was a terrible combination of all factors that derail a live adaptation of a shoujo manga. π€£ Raul was on my list of actors/actresses whose acting projects I will never watch. π You may as well watch it to hate on it... You know how sometimes it is so fun to watch something so bad that it's good?

I still sometimes have trouble believing that it is the same guy from Honey Soda Lemon. I practically skipped large chunks of the movie and swore to myself that I'd not touch any of his acting projects with a ten foot pole. He didn't even have any glimmer of potential, skill or charm! Also, I know how shoujo stories work, and usually enjoy most. And then this project got announced and I was torn. I really like watching Kimura Fumino's projects. I remember wishing for the ML to have been anyone but him. However, this is one of the rare instances where I have been wrong about an actor's future potential and cannot imagine anyone else in Takamori Taiga's role. I am so happy with his performance and this drama has been so beautiful.
