I took it to mean she wasn't good in English either. Basically, NH said two phrases (he was trying to be romantic, LMAO), each of which could be chopped into two separate words. The two words together in those two phrases have a different meaning when read together. She didn't know the English equivalent of those two phrases, hence, she decided to separate and translate the four words literally which is obviously why her translation doesn't make much sense. For instance, the "bai" in the phrase "baishou tongshin" (I hope I have romanised it correctly) meaning everlasting love also means white in Mandarin. Mandarin is also a tonal language. Similar sounding words are written using different Chinese characters.

She's been in a couple. However, I can invest my time in only a few dramas.

I knew of LTY but had only ever seen her in LBFAD. I had read that she was a good actress who hadn't gotten a breakout role yet. I really hope that from here on now she gets meaty roles that showcase her talent in all its glory.

I find LYN to be a really good actor. While I do admire his hardwork and persistence a lot, I do feel that he's also instinctively good at acting and it's just not because he's hardworking and sincere about doing the job well. Honestly, he can give many established traffic stars a run for their money given how they cannot act to save their lives. It's ironic that many of them are given scripts that specifically require acting talent. 😑 LYN has always been a decent actor even in his earliest roles. I do admit, LYN as the ML and WYS and CL in the supporting cast did play a major role in making me pick this drama up. 😬 I was unfamiliar with LTY. She's absolutely knocked it out of the park. She matches the character even as far as physical appearance is concerned. She's supposed to be this fairly confident actress who is well versed in the art of hustling and not some damsel in distress. This is exactly what comes across. Her body language is just exactly what's needed for this particular role. I have seen actors stumble when comes to portraying the character in how they move and gesticulate. Also, it's amazing how by intonation and inflections in her voice while delivering her lines, she made the striking contrast between the original FL and the transmigrated FL blatantly evident. The stabbing scene was so well constructed and executed overall.

I like transmigration stories because of the hijinks involved. However, I do agree the endings are usually disappointing big time due to the laws in place.

😬 When I first came across the drama, around the time its production was ongoing, I did actually wonder if it'd go up in smoke. The synopsis sounded really interesting, even though this plot has been done to death. There were just so many ways to screw this transmigration story up. Tbh, I wasn't holding my breath. I started watching it because I assumed it would be a good way to pass my free time. 😂

To be honest, I am just speculating because it's so hard to wait for the remaining episodes. I never expected this drama to be so engaging. I binge watched the first 21 episodes of ADWAD in one go. I had let 24 episodes pile up thinking it'd be easier to wait for the new ones. But nope, I have still ended up waiting anxiously for the next set of episodes. This drama has such high rewatch value.

What's a CDrama without a childhood connection trope? 😅 What if Nan Feng and Song Xiao Yu had already met as children? NH as LSL protected her from the fire both due to the mechanism of the script and because he genuinely wanted to. What if the fire that took away SXY's parents also somehow involved NF?
In the first episode, her manager told her that the only reason she got to star as the female lead was because presumably no big female star was willing to star opposite NF due to him being difficult to work with. What if it had been made to seem that way? NF is a big star and for the right price perhaps he could have gotten someone of "equal" stature to star opposite him. What if NF had a role to play in pulling some strings and casting her? Also, she was a former child actress. So, there's a possibility that little NF fell for her then. It may be that NF's already existing feelings for SXY are magnified when within the script as NH because NH fell for SXY the actress and not SYM the original fictional FL.

I have a theory.

Episode 32 proved that a leopard never changes his spots. The useless king overestimates his own intelligence and tries to play god. He's indeed Nan Rui's father, LMAO.

Exactly! She's no god and never set out to be one. In the beginning, she simply wanted to enjoy the ride and be done with it. It was never about NH per se. Also, her desires are very much shaped by her real life experiences. All she wanted was to vicariously live (or cosplay) the life of a rich girl in ancient times. However, things gradually changed as she fell in love with the fictional characters she had been forced to interact with by the script. Her hoping to save NH and the Song family was because she had started to care for them as if they were real people. Her vehemence to protect the fictional Song family comes from her own deeply buried desire to have grown up with her parents.

The poor girl just wanted a vacation after she found herself in the novel. I guess we are in the minority. For me, all of her actions make sense. Yes, normal people are able to strategise to some degree and she has done it too. Her response was to avoid while that of Nang Heng was to face it head on. Rather than intelligence, their respective responses came down to their world views, experiences, personalities and priorities. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I was CRINGING so hard that I almost looked away from the scene, and hence, didn't quite catch anything, LMAO. All I kept wondering about during that scene was how did the cast get through it wearing the drama appropriate expressions.

The scene was so well done! Earlier, in her mind, she was just parroting her lines. However, when the three-way-stabbing scene did occur, you could see SYM's frustration, helplessness, abd desperation. Beautifully executed scene by the cast and the crew.
