TBH, her char in the book wasn't that good (IMO). She's kind of righteous. Both her & WD's sect fell, so she's…
Canx? I read somewhere that WD's absence is also due to his agency and GJM not willing to promote him. It sucks. Such a repository of talent. The C-Ent cannot hide behind the silly excuse that he's not good looking. It blows my mind as to why they wish for uniformity in physical appearances. The more unconventional looks are straight away deemed as unattractive. WD's looks are oddly enough both conventional and unconventional. Usually, no matter how physically attractive an actor is, I cannot bear to watch them if they cannot act. Not taking names, but an extremely popular actor comes to mind who can't act to save his life. If only WD or someone else had done his roles, I would have started a few of the series that I know I would have really enjoyed.

I agree. Even though, I think CSB is a really good actress, that entire scene of confrontation was so iffy. The original PSE vs. PDJ and fake PSE confrontation felt flat, and CSB looked like they all were discussing the weather. Her expression instead of being subtle, almost looked like she was anticipating the next scene.
that's good in my opinion haha, people who haven't watched it can start it now and be able to catch next week,…
Chinese standards for physical appearances are laughable. This drama has a very good looking cast who don't look like they just stepped out of a salon. I find many C-actors beautiful who are not considered attractive in China. The kind of looks they find attractive are not always my cup of tea. 🤷🏼♀️ In this drama, school children look like school children and young adults look like they have just started adulting so I don't understand the complaints.
I feel nostalgic while watching this show. Mark Ma's debut drama was my gateway to CDramas. Even as a very young child in his first acting role, he was incredible. The rest of the cast is good too. ZKL was really good in one of his first shows. Always felt he had potential. These two feel so organic as siblings, with years of hurt between them. The way HJH follows HJS around in the annoying, endearing way younger siblings do is a treat to watch. I love the village setting. We usually don't get such slice-of-life settings in modern CDramas. Love that the colours don't pop in the artificial way they do in many other CDramas. HJH's room and the overall house looks like it's lived in and not a set. Other areas like the gym, too, looks like someplace where the local youth exercises and hangs out. Kudos to the production team and all others involved in the making of this drama.

Thank you for your reply. Your answer reveals exactly what I wished to know. I will be honest, I wish for ZYQ, WD, and a couple of others to get meaty main lead roles, which well doesn't really happen much in C-Ent. However, because these actors usually play supporting roles, their versatility and overall skills get unintentionally revealed. They also end up having a certain degree of diversity in their roles. These two steal the scenes they are in. 😊
Why are they still casting Song Yi… maybe she’ll surprise me idk
No hate to her, but personally, I do not find her to be a good actress at all. Something just doesn't click. I am not saying she's bad, she's a decent actress, yet, with her, I always seem to feel like she's acting out the characters rather than embodying them. Fingers crossed that she changes my opinion of her.
As someone who's a huge fan of ZYQ and really likes WD, does her character have a well written arc and a loveline with WD's character? I am not familiar with either the novel or the story itself. Major spoilers are more than welcome. (Better yet, spoil the story. Just mark them as spoiler.) Thank you.
