I'm finally excited about a new drama again!! The first episode was really fun, but I have to say they did a great job capturing how suffocating the whole situation quickly became for Kiko. Can't wait for the next one!

Actually, changing movie titles so that they speak to audiences in the target countries has always been a thing, and way before Netflix was even created. And it's often not even the translators' choice, it's the original work's team who decides what they want it to be (not always, of course, and I don't know if it's the case here). I do think a lot of them aren't that great, but Plastic Beauty isn't terrible! It tells you what the story is about a bit more than "downtime," which I find pretty vague.

Yes, and a lot of it! Every episode, whenever the characters tell a story, they will show terrible-looking and inconsistent (like, their clothes will change halfway) AI-generated animations to illustrate what the story is about.

Really hope this won't turn out to be yet another "autistic = genius" drama...

Coming back to this just to say I miss my favorite little duo so much. 💔 I wish I could forget about this drama and watch it all over again. Truly one of my favorites of 2025.

This show is honestly ridiculous and over the top. It would probably be unbearable to watch if it weren’t for Katase Rino’s incredible and believable acting. Her expressions and voice are so spot on that I almost start seeing her as a sixteen-year-old girl. It’s the only thing that makes the show not look like a parody to me.

Sorry to butt in when this isn't about me, but I just checked everything you pointed out in your comment, and I find your criticism very unfair. Do you work in translation? Because I'm a professional translator working in subtitling, and leaving out short lines that are not necessary to the comprehension of the plot is not only extremely common but also inevitable. You have to take into account readability when you make subtitles. No one wants to spend most of their time looking at the text. You're supposed to have enough time to go back and forth, so that you can appreciate the actual visuals and the acting while understanding what is happening. If a character is talking, and someone else says "yes" in the background, we're definitely leaving that out, because it's unnecessary. I can assure you that it doesn't have any impact on the viewers' overall enjoyment. Well, at least, it's not supposed to. If it bothers you that much, I think it's a shame, because all movies and shows translated professionally also have "skipped dialogue."

This is pretty entertaining for the most part, and I’m really enjoying Suzuka Ouji’s performance, but I think the rapping in court is going to get old pretty quickly if they do it every single episode… It also looks kinda silly to me.

From the first episode alone, I’m fortunately not getting any romance vibes, so I hope they keep it that way, because he is an absolute creep.
