Hiii...thanks a lot for your help...it doesn't matter if the videos are not translated...frankly, at this point I would pay to watch OhmNanon read a Thai newspaper 🤣!!! Yes please if it's not too much trouble, can you please provide me the links you mentioned in the message above as well...thanks in advance!!!
I'm reviewing this after having re-watched it now for the 3rd time after a year of first time watching it !! Trying to fill the void left by the completion of Bad Buddy, I didn't know what to watch so decided to give my favourite BL another try and having done that I realized why this series was my favorite until Bad Buddy took the top spot recently ...Nevertheless this is still a very close 2nd and will always remain one of my favorite series ever... The story itself is mesmerizing and a respite from the usual BL tropes that have become common to the point of being predictable and boring!! The writing is meticulous and every scene has a purpose and nothing feels like a filler. There are no loose ends and everything is tied up beautifully by the time the credits roll on the last episode. The direction by P'Aof is assured as always and he brings out the best from all the cast and crew. Special mention must be given to the production design of the show which is immaculate. Every detail looks authentic and nothing looks like it's added for the sake of creating an atmosphere...I don't know whether it was an actual village they shot at or it was all sets but it actually feels like a genuine village... The OST is beautiful and the title song is used at perfect occasions causing goosebumps and butterflies at the required moments between the couple!! Lastly coming to the best part of the show...The acting and chemistry of its 2 main leads ...Earth and Mixx exude a rare level of comfort together which is visible in every scene of them ..there is no cringe, no awkwardness and most importantly they look like 2 people in love ..their chemistry at times sweet and at times fiery lifts the show to a whole new level...Earth has given a nuanced performance which just strikes the correct balance his character requires...But the real star of the series and the MVP is Mixx in his debut role, who brings a level of intensity in his performance that even seasoned actors fail to bring at times...not only is he extremely good looking, but his face radiates every expression that Tian is feeling effortlessly ...he gets most of the heavy and emotional parts of the show and not once he fails to deliver in any of those scenes !! Watching him perform is just so satisfying !! Another aspect of the show which I really liked is that though predominantly it's a love story, the focus of the writing is not just on the couple but the characters as individuals. The leads have a personality of their own and face problems and issues that have nothing to do with the romance aspect. Apart from being a love story, ATOTS is also a story of self-discovery and forgiveness a story of community and found family..
Hi..Just wanted to know is there any playlist on youtube having ohmnanon videos (interviews, snippets etc.) ...I just can't seem to get over them and just want to keep watching them in any form...please let me know if something like this exists on youtube!!!!
I totally agree! Both Dal Mi and Do San share the same struggle and ambitions. They help, understand, and support…
yes exactly my point!!!! and at least a triangle makes sense where at some point the central love interest would have shown some romantic inclination towards the 2nd lead but here so dal mi and han ji pyun's relation was purely of a mentor and mentee at least from so dalmi's side!!!!
I think that trying to 'relate to a character' is understandable, but to me, but this can also bring to the wrong…
Ok I am going to quote an excerpt from a review of My Beautiful Man...now I am not saying that this reviewer is the ultimate reviewer or his verdict is irrefutable or anything but he is pretty famous and owns his own website and writes analysis and reviews of bl shows (blwatcher.com) and my purpose of including this here is to show that someone who is so passionate about BLs and does pay more attention to details in general as he has to write in-depth reviews, also shares my view....and I love the way he analyses and breaks down Hira's character ...here it is "Hira’s self-esteem is so low that he takes the abuse and never stands up for himself. He has a warped view of Kiyoi, lusting after his high school bully in an unhealthy way. Later, Hira meets his kind-hearted university friend Koyama, who shows him respect and support. Despite being presented with a more sensible love interest, Hira remains fixated on his obsessive crush from the past. “I don’t understand why you like him,” Koyama comments about Kiyoi in one scene, echoing my thoughts exactly. Hira’s inexplicable devotion to Kiyoi perplexes me." this paragraph just embodies in its entirety what I felt about Hira and glad to know that my views are also shared by other people..so yes you can have your own opinion of Hira and like him as a character but you can't go and say that anyone who doesn't like him has misinterpreted him as the logic of viewers for not liking him is as strong as the reason for liking him by others...
reading the comments i was so scared to go into this and was putting it off for days ..today i finally watched it and it was way better than my expectations...i'm not saying this is LOM level or anything but its decent and cute and definitely enjoyable !!
I didn't have any expectations about this after reading the negative comments here but it wasn't half as bad as…
same ...reading the comments i was so scared to go into this and was putting it off for days ..today i finally watched it and it was way better than my expectations...i'm not saying this is LOM level or anything but its decent and cute and definitely enjoyable !!
It’s super boring based on my super subjective opinion. But it’s just me. Most people love it. So maybe watch…
I did...I watched till ep 6 and gave up ..like I have sat through 20 episode Kdramas without ever feeling bored or anything ..I sat through reply 1988 which has 20 episodes of 1 half hour plus eacha nd never once saw the time or fast forwarded...this one on 6th episode I was dying ,,,it felt like time had stopped...sorry I love both the lead actors but this drama is just not for me ...
I think that trying to 'relate to a character' is understandable, but to me, but this can also bring to the wrong…
It's you who is not understanding my perspective and misrepresenting me...Yes Kiyoi did all that for Hira and that's the reason I have no issues with Kiyoi's character at all...even though he is presented as a cold person I really like his character ( this is what i meant by human traits ...i didn't mean human traits should only be happy or pleasing but even if negative in nature they should make a character interesting and that's why Kiyoi's character comes off as very intriguing)..but coming back to Hira...Hira had no idea that kiyoi had any such feelings for him..he is constantly shown saying that what could a God like Kiyoi want to do with him...my problem with this character arises from this perspective...even though kiyoi likes him n does things for him n all but from Hira's point of view he does not like him or want to do anything to him? Correct? but Hira still does all that borderline stalking n all other irritating things ? if he would have done all that knowing that Kiyoi likes him but just does not express it then all those things would have been acceptable...if I go after a person out of my league and start to stalk them even though i know I will never be good enough for dem ( maybe the other person likes me too but since they haven't shown I don't think it's possible), won't I come off as desperate? Also can't we just leave it at the fact that you interpreted the character in a different way and i did in a very different way?
I agree with you to an extent that Song Hye Kyo was the weakest link of this drama...however to go and say that…
Yes you do have complete rights to your opinion...but your freedom of expression does not entail that you get to make offensive personal comments or s*** shame people...that is just irresponsible behaviour ...but then again it's a public forum say whatever you want...
I think that trying to 'relate to a character' is understandable, but to me, but this can also bring to the wrong…
Please don't misunderstand or misquote me ..I said human traits not human rights..those two are 2 very different things ...human traits which make a character likeable or not likeable which is the basic requirement for any charaacter..and no one loves fantasy romance more than me and although I'm ready to keep logic aside, something's just cannot be ignored.. .I had no issues with Kiyoi calling him disgusting or weird..it was very obvious that it was a defense mechanism and he didn't mean it ...and I never said kiyoi mistreated Hira..what my issue was that Hira as a character was not aware of the fact that Kiyoi also had feelings for him..in fact the whole idea of Kiyoki liking him back was an absurdity to him...and yet here we have a character who despite knowing this throws himself on the other character and does borderline stalking ..if he would have done all this knowing that Kiyoi might harbor feelings for him it's just his outer shell which is like that but no the boy has no clue yet does everything...and I was completely fine with this characterization in the beginning ...but then later when they meet again he discards a person who actually helped him boost his confidence and any improvement in his personality and starts the whole cycle of stalking again...it's like there was no character development at all..and I do not blame the actor for this coz he is doing a fine job...it's just the plot does not have enough time to progress in a way as to accommodate character development ...in the last moment there is one realization from Hira's side which is supposed to make everything all right ...imagine this entire scenario now and change a variable that Kiyoki did not like Hira..now how would he have felt about someone so obsessive..would that make him comfortable? And for Hira this is the scenario he does not know that Kiyoki likes him and still does what he does ...and I'm not saying i'm an expert or anything but I have watched wayyyy more complicated psychological dramas and characters so it's not that I can't understand Hira..also I have accepted above that I might change my view if I re watch the drama...it's just that I cannot change the way I saw a character becoz someone tells me to...
Now I understand all the hype towards this show...having read a lot of negative things I was reluctant to start this thinking what if it turns out like one of those shows that is loved by the masses but is actually lame...fortunately that was not the case..though far from perfect, the show is extremely entertaining thanks to its brilliant production values, the wonderful OST and the overall great performances ( though not all of them were that good )...the biggest strength of the show comes from its highly likeable characters whom you can easily root for...all the 4 leads have done an incredible job ( though I find Song Hye Kyo a bit stiff in some scenes ) in making the characters so relatable that you can't help crying and laughing along with the them...the biggest flaw of the show is its uneven pace and writing...there were episodes were so much was packed in just one while there were a few where hardly anything happened ..but these are just minor nitpicks in an otherwise engaging and satisfying drama...if you are hesitant about this one like me, please don't be and give this one a try..ul end up liking it if not loving it!!!
to me everything is great in this drama except Song Hye Kyo ... she is beautiful and that's all ... her acting…
I agree with you to an extent that Song Hye Kyo was the weakest link of this drama...however to go and say that their marriage did not survive for this reason is harsh and completely unnecessary as it is nowhere related !!!
I think that trying to 'relate to a character' is understandable, but to me, but this can also bring to the wrong…
When a show has an underdog character and you still end up loving the supposed jerk (who though he wasn't), it shows a lot about the underdog character!!!
I think that trying to 'relate to a character' is understandable, but to me, but this can also bring to the wrong…
Hiii!!! Thanks for your input!! Basic human traits are applicable to characters in whichever reality you put them in..the surroundings can have a lot of effect on a character I agree on that ...but just becoz someone grew up to be a criminal as they were faced with a hostile situation right from the birth although justifies the scenario but will not necessarily make you like the criminal right (just an example don't go too deep in this)? for any character to be likeable or unlikable there are some distinctive qualities and if crossed into the other zone for whatever reasons, we may be able to sympathize with the character but not exactly like him/her...that is what happened for me with Hira..I can understand logically why his character was written that way (of an obsessive lover) and it is justified for everything that the character went through...doesn't necessarily mean I will like the character with such actions or motivations...Hira may be a character that you can empathize with a lot but he still comes off as unlikeable to me for exactly all those reasons... Also let me clarify ...my issues with Hira are not related to his stuttering or his introvert nature or low self esteem...if I ever had issues with those things I wouldn't even be qualified to discuss here...no I understand all those vulnerabilities and they actually make him a lot more likeable as you want to root for him to find happiness...my problem with Hira arises from his lack of self and borderline obsession with a person (again not blaming Kiyoi for how he treated Hira because I completely understand that part)..we never get to see any character growth for Hira...he lives and stays as a person who is obsessed with this other man..he complaints a lot about people mistreating him but in his blinded obsession for this one man completely disregards the one person who treats him like a human ...at times it looks like he might even beg Kiyoi to stay with him..his actions are understandable of course but that doesn't mean I will want such a person to be my partner ever ...again it all boils down to personal choices so yes let's agree to disagree... :)
Glad that we are having this discussion!! I respect everyone's personal opinions and I can also see how this show…
Having stated my perspective, I would also like to say that I agree with you on the fact that it might be possible that my dislike for Hira made it hard for me to go deep in his characterization and understand him better which maybe you did..so I will definitely rewatch this sometime soon to understand your point of view...anyways thanks for sharing such elaborate thoughts :)..
Glad that we are having this discussion!! I respect everyone's personal opinions and I can also see how this show…
I see your point and I see your perspective for it..before saying anything I just want to say that whatever I'm about to say is just meant as a healthy discussion and I'm in no ways being offensive or anything so in case I do come off like that please excuse me :)...I don't find Adachi and Hira very different...obviously Adachi is not bullied the way Hira is but he is still taken advantage of by his co-workers..as for other traits both have very low self esteem which is visible from the fact that they constantly put themselves down even though they are talented in respective areas, both are introverts who don't know or don't like to mingle with a social crowd..both are insecure which is apparent in the fact that both don't think they are worthy of their potential partners...the only major difference which leads to Adachi's struggles not being as much as Hira's is that Adachis potential partner is extremely supportive whereas Hira has never been reassured by his partner....I'm not saying I didn't understand the motivation behind Hira's action..what I'm saying is that his actions even if justified make him come off as a very problematic and an unlikable character at least to me...like if I met such a person irl, I would sympathize with them to an extent but I could never like such a person who has no sense of self for whatever reasons...also Hira's character never shows any growth from his previous self whereas Adachis character goes on a journey of self growth throughout the show ( this again is because he had an extremely supportive partner)which makes it more satisfying for me to like Adachi as a character...this again I will blame on the writing and the short duration which doesn't give much scope to flesh out the growth of Hira's character..instead it just comes as a blow to him in the last few minutes that he should not have treated Kioyi that way which again diminishes the impact compared to if it had been a progressive realization...trust me I really wanted to like this show and I liked it a lot in the beginning few episodes but it's very hard for me to like a love story cute or psychological if I don't like one of the main leads in that story ...so..having said that I also understand why a lot of people would like Hira...and as mentioned in a previous comment by me I have been Hira at a point in my life in the aspect that I could do whatever for my crush to the extent of disregarding myself and trust me it does not end well irl...
I hate characters like Hira..they are pushovers with no sense of self respect when it comes to loving someone…
Glad that we are having this discussion!! I respect everyone's personal opinions and I can also see how this show would have been loved by a lot of people...don't get me wrong..it's not that I didn't like the show..let me tell you why it didn't work for me as much as I wanted it to...let me get something out of the way...I love psychological dramas...I have watched a lot of them in both Western and Asian media...and I love flawed characters. I prefer characters who are not instantly lovable from the first scene itself...and that is the reason I had no problems with Kiyoi's characterization...though a lot of people disliked his actions and the way he treated Hira but for me I could understand the reason behind each of those actions...for me the real problem is Hira's character..his vulnerability and introvert nature were all endearing until he started coming off as an obsessed lover..there's a difference between an unrequited love and this kind of one sided obsession ( which according to Hira it was one sided) ...he complaints a lot about people treating him this way that way...but the one character who actually treats him respectfully and adores him is completely disregarded by him..by disregarded I didn't mean Hira not saying yes to his proposal..but the moment he meets Kiyoi again, he goes back to his stalker mode completely oblivious to this one person who has been by his side till now....as much as I love characters who don't give up their pursuit in a love story, I cannot stand a character who has no sense of self respect...and a relationship born out of such obsession is not very appealing to me ..maybe the story didn't have enough time to flesh out his character properly or maybe the writing of the character itself was weak but somehow I didn't enjoy Hira and that for me was the biggest flaw of the show....since we are on the topic, let me give you an example of a well written vulnerable, introvert and insecure character ( which apparently Hira's character is supposed to be ) - i.e. Adachi from cherry magic..not only does he make you sympathize with him but also makes you root for him to find happiness.... not to take away from the strengths of the show which were a lot, I wish I would have liked Hira's character better which would have made this couple much more likeable for me ...
I hate characters like Hira..they are pushovers with no sense of self respect when it comes to loving someone obsessively...and the reason I hate him soo much is because ...I was him once...I can relate to him so much that I can exactly hear the things going on in his mind...but as much as i relate to him..I would not want anyone to follow this example..it worked out here but in real life it mostly will not and it sucks...having said that I enjoyed the show! Won't say that I loved it but it was a decent watch!! I liked keita hatsukoi way better...also nothing will be able to top cherry magic in Japanese BL right??
