Since I'm not someone who drops a drama without a strong reason, it was very hard for me to do so for this...but however much I tried I just couldn't get past ep 7...don't get me wrong...the leads are amazing and have really good chemistry..it;s just that if the show was just them I would have enjoyed it a lottt more..all the other scenes not involving just them are so boring especially all the scientists part...i literally had to use 1.5 x to go through the filler scenes...and still coulldn't take it..this was just bland overall!!!
I hate myself for not watching this before as i got dissuaded from all the negative comments and reviews on MDL..even though I'm still on ep 8, I can just tell this show deserves its hype..the way it has captivated me right from ep 1...I cannot stop wathcing...amazing...the 2nd couple is giving me life!!!!!
I have never hated a male lead so much. He was such a huge jerk. Just because he was handsome and rich does not…
I respect your opinion but according to me this male lead is one of the most endearing and lovable male leads in a Kdrama!! Maybe our perceptions are different..but then again I did find Kabir Singh highly toxic but this character was far from it!!
Let me get something out of the way...this show has a very basic plot...a plot which would have made for a very mediocre or even poor drama..!! Did I still love it - Absolutely!!!!!! Whats wrong with Secretary Kim rises and shines above this flaw coz of its biggest strength - amazing performances and crackling chemistry of its 2 main leads!! Park Seo Joon as the narcissistic vice president brings his A game to the character of Young Joon!! This is a very risky role to play!! If not written and performed well the character could have easily come off as conceited and arrogant but Park Seo Joon owns the character and brings such an endearing charm to his role that you can’t help loving and rooting for this narcissistic character. You realize that he doesn’t say those snobbish things to put himself above others but being the confident person he is, he actually believes that he is those things and just says it out as facts in a straightforward way..this makes his narcissism endearing rather than annoying!!! Park min young already had my heart in Healer but she steps up her game in this show and comes forth as a no-nonsense strong career driven woman who at the same time is a hopeless romantic and dreams of falling in love in the most romantic way!! She is charming, lovable and most of all relatable. The chemistry between these 2 is off the charts and their banters and cute moments are to die for!! A scene where secretary Kim draws out a mini heart from her purse and Seo joon realizes a bit late what it is but immediately gets flustered upon realizing is absolute gold!!
Really well written and beautifully acted drama!! The main leads were just amazing..their acting, chemistry everything was just perfection..Overall an amazing series ..one that should be a must watch..also one of the rare dramas that requires a re-watch ...have a few issues with the character of Mo Jun Jie...found his character arc a bit unsatisfying..also the ending, though bittersweet, felt a little unrewarding after going through the experience!!!
Yes, that's perfectly aligned with their character. They were stubborn and strong-willed, but deep inside, Pat's…
Yes that's what I always thought..parents who are supportive of their kids sexuality (as seen in ep 7) certainly cannot be bad parents..and I'm glad the reason for them hating each other was justified ..it wasn't some misplaced sense of superiority or pride..it was deep rooted resentment. ...Resentment towards someone whom you thought of as a friend but who did you wrong..and I'm so glad that they showed that such deep rooted scars cannot vanish in a day but with time can be healed if your loved ones happiness is at stake..great message bad Buddy!!
This ending was perfect!! Frankly the ending exceeded my expectations!! I was expecting a grand last ep with both families becoming friends again and them living in a perfect fantasy world adored by each others families!! But thanks P' Aof for showing that in the real world things don't get resolved overnight!! That it takes time...small steps along the way lead to a big change..I'm glad they showed that the parents did not completely let go of all their resentments in one go but they understood that their kids need to live their own lives and though they didn't straightaway approve of their relationship, it clearly showed that they were more accepting of the possibility which was just perfect and realistic
Did not expect to love it so much!! I really have apprehensions when it comes to watching Kdramas produced before 2016 as I have tried before and failed to like most of them...so went into this without expecting much and though was not a big fan of the first 1 or 2 eps, it slowly started grabbing my attention to the point that i was binging the episodes and watched it within 2 days....the biggest strength of the show lies in the performances of its 2 leads who are outstanding in their roles and also the supporting cast who range from good to excellent...the relationship between the leads is very refreshing and realistic and not at all what you have come to expect from the surreal standards of romance set by Kdramas.. they act like how a couple in real life rather than a fairy tale would...the medical aspect though a bit crude and sometimes illogical does not affect the quality of the drama..the stigmas associated with mental health patients are depicted to the point in a very effective way...another major contributor to the feels is the OST of the show..the songs beautifully complement the emotions the character is going through and that is very rare...at the end its a story of healing through love and being there for someone who needs your help!!! an absolute must watch!!
I'm not someone who nitpicks on small things but this drama is soooo boring!! Apart from the scenes between the leads which are very good , everything else seems like filler scenes and noise!!! I'm on ep 4..can someone tell me if it gets better!!!
Ikr...love this drama as well💕 and rewatched it again. So sad and what a pity for this drama is far and unplaced…
seriously !!!! and imagine so many people are missing out on a gem like this just coz of the misleading rating!! I also almost became one of them having put it on hold for so long just coz of the rating!! one of the rare 2 or 3 dramas where I didn't use Netflix's 1.5x button inspite of the eps being 1 hr 20 min etc...
That's your opinion, plenty of people hated this drama for multiple reasons.
Only delusional people hated hit who wanted Dal-Mi to end up with han Ji Pyung when it was so clear right from the beginning that Dal Mi and Do San were endgame...
Seriously 8.1? For this show? Talk about injustice..and why ? coz apparently some fans are crazy.. I don’t know about other things but this show had one thing in abundance - entertainment. It was a smooth ride from start to finish with a brisk pace, good writing and top-notch performances. Honestly, its very rare to sit for a binge watch of a Kdrama as its lengthy and most of them start dragging towards the end but with this I didn’t even realize when I reached episode 16. This show was a complete package. It was funny, romantic and emotional as and when it needed to be and the best part about the show were its extremely likeable characters. Nam Joo Hyuk as Nam Do San brings this extreme vulnerability to his character that you can’t help but be protective of him..he is a pure soul and a rare gem and even though I started this show for Kim Seon Ho, somewhere along the way Do San’s character just stole my heart. Kim Seon Ho as Han jI Pyung shines in his role especially his scenes with grandam. Suzy as always is a sight for sore eyes. Dal Mi is the MVP of the show and the story kind of revolves around her. Other characters have also done an extremely good job. The bromance between Do San and his coding besties is something so genuine. Addressing the obvious elephant in the room. The apparent love triangle which drove fans crazy. Are people seriously delusional? Being here for Kim Seon Ho, even I could see the chemistry between Do San and Dal Mi which was completely absent for the other pair..not once did Dal Mi show any inclination in a romantic way towards Han Ji Pyung..maybe people were thinking that the big reveal of the letters would change the game but sorry to all those folks, feelings don’t work that way. Dalmi gives a very good response for choosing Do San – On being asked by Do San as to why she likes him she responds I like you because it’s you.no other reason required...there it is..as clear as day..she liked him for who he was as a person after she met him..not becoz someone wrote her letters 15 years back. Yes she treasured those letters and yes that was the reason they met in the first place but then it was all Do San for Dal Mi..he made her fall in love with him..she didn’t start loving him immediately after meeting him just becoz of those letters..she fell in love with the real Do San over a course of time. And then blaming the show for catching them off guard with the ending when all the show has ever done was allude that that’s how it was gonna end. When it comes to negatives, I have a few. The writing does become a bit inconsistent and lazy towards the end especially after ep 12. Han Ji Pyung was needed more in the 2nd half. But these are just small nit-picks in an otherwise brilliant and entertaining show…give this a a chance like I did..you will end up with a good investment!!!!
one of the main complaints I have with Kdramas is the annoying FL in most shows!! Kudos to a K drama for making a very likeable extremely relatable strong FL..
thank you for pointing this out...I haven't completed the entire show..still on ep 10 but it's so clear to me…
From experience I know now that the ratings on MDL are not to be trusted entirely. Though they do give an overview and help a lot in filtering quality content from garbage, they sometimes can be extremely misleading and subjective....for eg. I'm not saying start-up is a masterpiece or anything but it certainly deserves to be at a much higher place in ratings than it is at now..and to think the cause of this is that the girl didn't end up with a fan fav character even though that would have been something completely against the progression and logic of the show, baffles me!!
So many haters tried to down the ratings, but still 8.1 till now is outstanding.Don't know why in k dramas people…
thank you for pointing this out...I haven't completed the entire show..still on ep 10 but it's so clear to me that Dal Mi and Do San are endgame...and if people thought while watching that a big reveal of the letters is gonna change the feelings of Dal Mi into liking Han Ji Pyu, I just wanna say to them to pls stop being delusional...love doesn't work that way..debt does..You cannot love someone just for the fact that they comforted you during a certain time in your life...you love who you love ..and it was clear since the beginning that Dal Mi liked the current Do san..though she was grateful for the letters, she loved him for what he was and how he treated her in the present!!! As much as I like Han Ji Pyu, anyone who thought this would go the other way round...I feel sorry!!!
Ep 7 Ending is very crucial if you look at it a little more deeply...the director really played a subtle game here which you can see in the way the scene is executed....that's where you get the answer for the so called love triangle..sure Dal-Mi says that she will chose the one who wrote those letters as that was her first love and that she is still getting used to the current Do San...this itself gives an idea that she thinks of the previous Do San as a fantasy and she is obliged to love him since he comforted her when she needed the most...but she also says that even though the current Do San does not resemble the one in the letters, in between there are moments when he makes her heart flutter ..remember this is the conversation before the kiss at the end of ep 7...then that kiss initiated by Dal Mi just solidifies her feelings and removes any doubt that she has been harboring regarding the current Do-San...in that moment the current Do san replaces the memories of a 15 year back Do san that the treasured more....
I'm 6 episodes in and even from here I can see that Dal Mi will still chose Do San as she should..and I'm not saying this as a fan or something..I'm saying this based on the respect and understanding and care they have for each other which is not going to change even if there is a big reveal later about the letters...Han Ji Pyo is still my fav character but it's not meant to be and the show is making it very clear since the beginning..I don't know how people thought otherwise!!!
