Title Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Spoiler
oh god someone said that the reason dusik might have left the boat on the mountain top is because if he leaves it in the sea and a trouble appears (like hyejin's dad mentioning a typhoon), it might go away. it makes so much sense. the boat is one of the most precious things he owns because it was his grandfather's, so in his fear of losing it like everything else, he put it there. i think my heart hurts.

ah i wonder if this means they'll drag the love triangle for a while until dusik and hyejin get together? i mean…
i absolutely agree. i mean, at this point it's pretty clear that she doesn't have any feelings for the pd so to push any type of romantic storyline with him even further would make no sense. hyejin seems like she'd be mature enough to not get involved with anyone she doesn't have feelings for, especially because her views changed so much (with how she defended dusik in front of her dad)... he's a good guy and they're all old and mature enough to deal with this directly. ah i really don't want them to screw up with the screenwriting here :(

Title Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Spoiler
ahh so i'm finally reading comments by knetz for the next preview and some viewers think it's likely that ji pd told hyejin to meet as soon as he's in gongjin (and saying let's not to be too late this time) so he can confess his feelings, and since this scene happens at night, it may be the case that dusik witnessed this, hence what seems to be a scene of him walking home and another one looking a bit distressed. with dusik pretending to be hyejin's boyfriend and ji pd clearly noticing that dusik might be interested in her (and looking worried about smth during filming), i guess this might happen? but then again, who knows if the trailer is misleading, there's also a scene of hyejin smiling at night and i wonder what that is about. i just hope that dusik won't hold back and that he'll be more open about he feels (... directly too!!). i don't think my heart can take any more scenes of dusik looking lonely and upset because he believes that hyejin might like ji pd. i mean come on? she almost initiated a kiss for the second time, you need to make a move chief hong! she likes you back!

i'm rewatching some of my favorite parts and it find it cute that hyejin kept drinking the tea even though she clearly disliked the taste, similar to how dusik finished his meal only because she made it. it's not so much the taste that matters but the person you get the gift from :')

The PD's assistants were chatting about "this is a comedy drama with sad ending". This makes me worried that it…
i might be wrong buti feel like that part was kinda referring to SML's ending because he was the focus of the conversation. i guess a happy ending doesn't always mean a happy ending for everyone. at this point in the drama, SML is having a lot of fun but at the end of the day, he's a second lead in this story and he probably won't be able to experience the type of ending he wishes to have with hyejin. i hope the pds won't take any dark twist with such a healing drama.

Title Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Spoiler
i'm dying at the knetz's comments on the last episode. when dusik said that everyone in gongjin feels like family (while they were drinking) someone wrote have you considered making hyejin your family on paper? :') but seriously, i can't take how sweet these two are. i feel my heart fluttering throughout the entire episode, every single moment between them is so precious. this drama is really like an anti-stress pill; for an hour it makes you forget about everything and makes you feel so warm and relaxed. how can we make these 5 days go faster? i can't wait to see the full scene when dusik wakes up in the morning with a smile on his face.

btw: based on the 5-minute preview before the show started and the official trailer, there is a scene where hyejin is playing at the park drunk and they're wearing the same outfits as in episode 4. so i guess after he cupped her cheeks, this is what happened? i guess we're starting the next episode with some comedy

ah my heart melted a bit when i realized that the candle he was making while he was thinking about hyejin and their ride to seoul (and how sweet she was in the car) was the one he gave her from his bag when the power was off. he basically gave her a self-made gift without her realizing :') their chemistry was insane this week, especially the smiles at the end of the ep

Title Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha Spoiler
seeing how dusik looked while he was picking up the suit from his closet (and the his general talk about minimum wage), i can't help but think that he also has negative experience from the past related to corporate city-life/chasing his dream or career goal (before returning to the village) and that's partly why he's looking out for hyejin so much (unless something similar happened to a family member instead of him personally but i doubt he'd throw the suit away then). i think he wants to support her in finding comfort and happiness in a life that is less defined by material, physical things than necessary and than what hyejin is used to.

he clearly saw her as a good person for helping out the kids and earning money for herself in ep1. for the kids part, especially, he saw that it's something she did out of her own kindness and care for others, not for anyone else's attention or validation. working with the grandmas, she also showed how quickly she adapted to the circumstances and instead of further asking for help, she was willing to learn and take care of herself (and she seemed to be getting along with the grandmas just fine while doing so). i think he understands that she is currently struggling and that the decision to open the clinic in the village was not really a plan she had before or something she dreamed of. but while he understands her, he also wants her to understand the people she's surrounded by now, hence why he seemed so visibly hurt by her comments at the party and why he told her that life isn't fair to all of them. it was not only her who is struggling for losing a job or the lifestyle she is used to - other people's struggles are just are real. and, perhaps more importantly, these struggles come in many different ways, even if she can't understand such doubts and worries. but if she is to be a part of their community, at least she should try to. and there's a lot of beauty in that community, a lot of support and a lot of love that she might find that will help her grow. that's why he also sent her the first patient she had and helped out with the snacks even when he really didn't need to. but still, she might be at her happiest if she can overcome the sense of a crisis and feeling like she's in the village purely out of the need, because she can't find a job elsewhere and this seems like a way to earn good money before finding a way to go back to seoul. instead, she might replace it with a sense of security and belonging.

Actually that's the actresses real voice, she gets a lot of hate for her voice even though she isnt doing it on…
shuxin actually posted several pictures of her recording the voiceover in the studio on weibo saying she was done with dubbing for moonlight. so the drama is dubbed but they're using her own voice for her character. her voice does sound a lot more "mature" in some of the interviews, but it can also often be softer and more "chu li" like (you can check out let's party to see more of this - it's not a drama, it's a variety - same goes for qcyn2). she also recently posted that she's recording the voiceover for her character in the upcoming drama cang lan jue!

i know that translators don’t have it easy and that it’s more important for the subtitles to convey the same feeling rather than being literal but netflix is (once again) doing such a poor job with subtitles for a kdrama. how is ‘’don’t you dare to show me any (affection)’’ remotely similar to ‘’if you call me oppa, you die’’. i feel like the translation doesn't do justice to his lines. even when he asked her if she had any questions, it was translated as "go ahead" but he said "yes, student" to hyejin instead. ahhh netflix :(

Title Nevertheless, Spoiler
if i knew that the pds wouldn't follow the original ending or that they would choose the classic "abusive/manipulative ML gets a redemption arc" even though the FL spent 90% of the drama with a deteriorating mental health primarily as a consequence of their interactions, i would NOT pick up this drama. just what a disappointment this has turned out to be... it's actually overwhelming. not even because she doesn't end up with the SML, but because they had so many opportunities to send a positive message to the viewers, and they probably picked the worst scenario that was on the table. one might argue that anything other than this ending would be the ideal scenario and life is not always like that but the thing about many kdramas is that (sadly) the pattern is that toxic, unhealthy relationships are presented as a way to go. so this would be a great start to show otherwise. the webtoon had a rushed but good ending, considering nabi realized putting an end to it is for the best, and we see that later on, jaeon is still approaching girls in the same way. because that's how it is... most people don't change overnight.

in the webtoon, nabi was in an abusive relationship for 3 years. her boyfriend groomed her when she was in high school, didn't allow her to change her haircut, isolated her from all of her friends, cheated on her, and what we've seen in the drama - even exposed her naked body at the exhibition without her consent. she has never known of a healthy, loving relationship. she was under constant manipulation and control and it all started from her very first relationship. while she was aware of what she was getting into when she got closer with jaeon, the guy was the master of mixed signals. he gave her a lot of space to believe his approach to her was different, and still she ended up getting hurt every single time.

she tried to distance herself from jaeon so many times and reasonably so. yes, she also made her series of mistakes but it was always clear that she was the more vulnerable individual in their relationship (or however you'd like to call it) and yet it was PJE who constantly went back to her, initiated physical contact, invaded her personal space - every. single. time she tried to catch a break and move on. i mean touching her so many times, volunteering as her assistant, provoking dohyeok as soon as he began losing her attention, hell.. even visiting her aunt?? she literally couldn't catch a break or otherwise she'd have 10 missed calls on her phone, and even then, he remained emotionally manipulative after.

i'm tired, absolutely tired, of seeing female characters suffer and still ending up with the people who have hurt them in the end, because "he changed, he just needed a little bit of time". one great thing about the webtoon was the fact that he didn't. and that's how he usually is. he doesn't need a girl to change him and girls don't need to suffer any form of abuse or manipulation to get someone to behave better. what he needs is therapy. and so does nabi after going through so much. it is not her responsibility to "magically transform" him into a better person. she's not a rehab center.

this drama could've showed us her healing, her growth, the focus on her wellbeing. and it failed to do every single thing on the list. they could've showed us putting herself first, gaining the confidence she needs, working on her mental health, and being happy with herself the way she is. overcoming her fears and traumas, or at least actively working on identifying them. it's just.. tiring.
