Just one big sad unfortunate misfortune. In the grand scheme of things, Min Hee seems to be the indirect cause of everything from past to present. Can get too melo at times but it's a decent watch.
Don't watch it if you are looking for romance, almost non existent. It was alright with some good laughs here and there. It felt too long for what it had to offer. Add to that a cramped, underwhelming ending/last episode and this "Insurance Queen" bullshit. It had a good set up but it under delivered.
The review made by PrettyCarEye hit all the key points and personally I think it's even worse, his review was…
- They completely forgot about the infidelity, it was left unaddressed and they returned to be lovey-dovey. - From first to last minute FL was a doormat beaten around repeatedly and never bit back. In the end, she didn't get her child and even got cancer. As if god was mocking her personally! - Some serious backward thinking happening in this drama. Being from 2010 had nothing to do with that. - Nobody slapped Nam Jung on the face.
The review made by PrettyCarEye hit all the key points and personally I think it's even worse, his review was a bit gentle. Starting from episode 41 it genuinely turned into a shit show. I had a lot to say but I have no will to write after this bullshit. A bit more in spoilers...
Not good! I don't mind if the writer wanted this kind of ending but their approach/build up/progression/development is poor. Given what they showed us in its current state, the ending was straight up revolting. That last episode was painfully and brutally forced. Aside from that, the drama suffers from a handful of other issues like the pacing.
For the same topic/theme, I highly recommend watching "My Wife’s Having an Affair this Week" and "Valid Love" over this one. They are both better in every single way.
Reasons to watch: Jung Da Bin, who's no longer with us. Although I recommend Attic Cat which is better in every aspect over this one. Da Bin truly shines there. Kim Min Hee, who no longer does dramas. She is trapped in endless hell of indie films with her grandpa boyfriend.
Reasons to NOT watch: Literally everything else. With its biggest downfalls being the unnecessary over-tangled uninspiring half-baked run of the mill lousy love triangle. Up until ep6 it was alright, then turns to a wishy-washy pity story. And the last 4 episode being the worst.
With that being said, can't hate it too much for Da Bin sake.
Han Ji Won existence was abhorrent from start to finish. I'll state obvious, the writing was as sloppy as they get. The drama was slightly elevated by Park Shi Yeon presence, still poor tho.
Who ever added Han Jae Suk needs to be fired. The dude looks older than his father character, it feels like there's a huge gap between him and FL. I think a toddler can make more expressions than him. He cannot do romance or whatsoever, throwing him in a political drama would be a better fit. The female lead actress was also bland.
Anyway, I got to see Lee Ha Nee (regardless of the character she played) which was nice.
It was pretty evident from the very first episode that it was written by a female writer and I was correct. All males are cheaters and pieces of shit, only the ML is the white knight charming prince. All women are suffering, unhappy, enslaved, sexism in workplace and the world is unfair to them. Great portrayal of society! Writer was stuck by end of ep18 so she threw a time skip, what a joke. So the reason why she didn't cancel the marriage is because they already told and invited everyone. I can't even. God was slapping her on the face repeatedly to not get married. Female lead actually deserves to be miserable for being brain dead imbecile.
I wanted this drama to descend into madness, abandon any touch with reality and wreak havoc where Tae Wook kills the female lead, Cynthia comes on top, Se Kyung to commit murder because of her obsession, Hye Jung to put in-laws behind bars, and Hyun Woo to become an addict. Burn it to the ground and dance on its corpse. Only then I might care a little bit.
MDL users are extremely sensitive if a lead had the slightest tiniest moral misalignment. The man knows what's up and he is dying in guilt. Of course in drama world rules you can't tell the other person and be honest, they have to find out accidentally and make a scene out of it to rile up the viewers. It might not have been the fairest ordeal for Bok Hee but look at the greener side. Life happens, accept it. I bet people wouldn't had bitch about it if Bok Hee got her plus one at the end or even got a more pronounced ending. Relationships wise it was fucky wucky but the main attraction was the sweet bickering especially the earlier episodes those were like cocaine. Then there's Kang Jae, the man looks like he's ready to throw a fist immediately, yet he can shed a tear in a heartbeat.
I liked the earlier parts for how stylish and jazzy they were, then it became flavorless and the ending tasteless. I found the ending underwhelming and unfitting for the build up and the direction it was hinting for. If they made the first 14 episodes to be light, they can't suddenly make the last 2 episodes to be serious. Stick to your theme!
Anyway, the big attraction of this drama and most of the heavy lifting are done by the main couple. Sweat and endearing interactions between them that it leaves you desiring more.
