I agree with some of what you wrote and it is a huge step forward for bl but do we really need 500 Words for every…
This might not be the best direction to take BL's but it is an improvement. I think I like the dialogue only inasmuch as the normal BL is just manglish, written by semi-literate staff members that are paid a pittance. I have no interest in series becoming plays, that would be as insipid as you say, especially as most writers have no command of the poetry of language [and this writer does not either]. I can agree that some of what he wrote here is just pretentious, and do I really need to know the longitude down to the tenth decimal point? I really enjoy some plays that were recreated on tv like the adaptation of Suddenly Last Summer with Montgomery Clift, but that is a complete adaptation of a play whereas this is something of a hodgepodge. It is not entirely successful, and the pacing is not the best, but I still think in the context of this genre this is immensely better than your average BL with all its drawbacks.

I did mean Thailand, and I’m very aware of plays being made into tv dramas - watched all those you’ve mentioned in various adaptations. Shakespeare would be one of my favorites, lol

I think everyone needs to read this interview with Punnasak (the creator of the series) to really understand what…
Very insightful. I thought this dialogue felt like something from a play, and he says he wants to bring the world of theater to tv which is a brilliant idea. I think this is a masterful work and would be perfect if it had about 2-4 more episodes. I assume he did what he could with the budget he received, but he's brilliant. I wish him great success in his career, and hope he gets a ton of work in the future.

Wow, this is a masterpiece. I've never said that about any BL, but I feel it so strongly here. This is so mature, and beautifully written. I, for once, feel like I'm reading a play written by someone with some grasp of dialogue, and language unlike any BL I've ever seen. The psychological exploration, philosophical undertones, and excellent work in every area is just transcendent for this genre. I could write pages on this if I had the time, and it really is a work that deserves pages of praise. I just wanted to talk about just one area because it seems everything else has already been discussed. As an Asian that grew up in a very conservative environment I think I felt In's pain very keenly. It's really super hard to come out like that to Wang's mom, and to fight for a lover that is the son of his best friend. God, I can't even imagine. My extended, very conservative Asian family just treated me like a pariah for having a boyfriend, but this is next level beyond that for In. I think he gave up Siam because the struggle was so difficult, and because he didn't want to hurt his friend's family. He has to possibly endure giving up the love of his life a second time, or face-off with Mol in a struggle which I, personally , would find nearly impossible to overcome if I were in his shoes. What a ridiculously difficult situation and what amazing plot construction that got this series to this point. The choices every character has to make are just mind-bendingly hard.

Wang has to be one of the bravest individuals on the planet for just being able to speak so honestly - there are warriors on the battlefield, but he's a real warrior of another kind. I can't imagine how difficult it is for him that even if he's seeing everything as it really is, he is powerless to convince his uncle and mother who are totally rigid in their conservative mindset, and who are totally defeated by their personal sorrow. He's the only one that can move things forward, but he has to be patient and persistent. I hope that's how this plays out because I'm not ready for a tragedy - please don't take us there.

I sympathize with the the mom as well because I know it would be a hard stretch for any of my aunts to have to go through this situation. None would come out of this without some severe trauma, and most would yank their kid out of there in a split second. Like most Asian moms that are devoted completely to their kids, they expect their children to listen to their demands. The mom is actually quite liberal because she lets her son choose his major and would, for the most part, let him do whatever he wanted with his life. Now, in addition to switching his major to something that would make no money [which most Asian moms are very conscious of], he also wants to go to a non-prestigious university, and to be lovers with her former best friend. This is just really OTT and would just cause a seizure for most aunt's I have known. I know there are some liberal Asian moms out there, but Mol is supposed to be conservative [which is really the norm].

Just one last thing - the sets are just beautiful. Someone had a great grasp of detail, and In's house was built by an architect for an architect. Again, I have nothing but the highest praise for this series. Congratulations to everyone involved in this masterpiece!

Overall you must be right because he had the same diet before and didn't gain weight. My mistake - good catch :)

Perhaps, but I wasn't making any big deal about it. I'm not even sure he was overweight like people were saying, and his character could have had a high metabolism or worked really hard like you say. As the supervisor you shouldn't have to do a lot of the manual labor, but I get what you're saying.

how is the series ? I mean does it have those cringe scenes or smtg like that which is in lot of BLS currently…
There are a lot of conflicting views here. I'm pretty sure the script is one of the worst I've ever seen, but you should check out a few episodes yourself to see what you think [I guess it would be very cringey for me]. I believe the first few episodes were good, but then it sort of falls apart and never recovers. That's my opinion, but you should give it a shot yourself. Sometimes I just fast forward really fast to get a better idea, so I can save some time.

my only complaint with this series is that the love interest was super rushed...i wanted more time to see them…
As a big critic of this show early on, I'm fine with it. You have to take the good with the bad, and there is something so worth it in this series. It might be rushed but it certainly was fulfilling when it arrived, lol.

Wow that was HOT. Was there a story in here somewhere? Well, who cares, because that was super sexy for a BL. I'm totally fine with the plot, even if it was sparse. Whoever ran the kissing workshop deserves a reward from all of us - thank you, thank you, thank you! In addition to the make out scene I really liked the fact that for this whole episode the two main leads acted like a couple in love. From the many kisses, to Rain calling Phayu his darling, Phayu patting Rain on the butt, and just the looks of love between them throughout, I don't think I've ever seen this much couple interaction in a BL.

I like how we don't have just the perpetual chase here till the last few minutes of the last episode like in most BL's. I think having the main couple have obstacles they have to face AS A COUPLE, rather than watching a thousand ex's getting in the way of their relationship, is how BL's should all work. I think this way we get to see a lot more romantic interaction between the leads. They finally have to work acting as gay people, rather than getting to play straight men for 99 percent of the show. This show is just much more enjoyable because of this, and I'm thinking its going to be one of my favorites till this becomes the norm everywhere.

What an aestically pleasing extended commercial with two of my favorite actors. I will not however be buying that…
His character ate like a pig, so it wouldn't be surprising if he gained weight for the role. I agree that Mix looks fine either way. Why anyone should be worried about his health is a little silly - he's young and can afford to have a few months being overweight if he even was overweight.

Why another body swap story, ugh! Couldn't they think of anything more original? On the positive side, Cupid's Last Wish didn't have enough intimacy of these two being a couple so I did enjoy that aspect of this. It did help add something that was missing so this is not a waste of time for me at least.

Agreed, I'm so disappointed. The thing that annoys me the most is they took the most interesting premise of any…
I still think that they got lost in working on the science fiction part and that distracted them so much that they couldn't focus on even the basics of a normal BL. I'm not sure the budget is the problem because there was sssooooo much filler and this could have also just been 10 episodes like the previous GMMTV series. It's just hard to say what goes wrong in any tv production. We can't see what happened behind the scenes. The director could have just let things fall apart by not being attentive, sponsors might have interfered and asked for specific changes to the script, managers might have tried to negotiate more air-time for their people, also creating changes in the script, etc. I think the number of cameos and adverts might be indicative of what happened but it's really impossible to know. At the end of the day, it was just a waste of time for the viewers, no matter what the cause of it was. I, myself, just skimmed about the last 5 episodes hoping to see something about the portkey, but even that was a waste of time The portkey, and how it functions, was also explained pretty sloppily, just like the rest of the script.

The writers of the screenplay were on some strong hallucinogens and they hallucinated that they actually wrote a script. Well they did write some words, and due to time constraints, the director had to use them, even if no one understood what the words meant.

This is so badly written that I don't know why anyone even bothers. Of course they are not going to make any sense in episode 11 when they never made sense in episodes 1-10. It's just that it's climaxing in its lack of coherence. For anyone that likes this, I'm not attacking you. You do you, but this is just one of the most dreadful screenplays ever made for a BL, and that's saying something. They should never have taken on an idea like switching universes when they wouldn't have even been able to handle basic character development in your typical BL setting.

I'll only add one more specific criticism to the littany I've seen addressed below. The character of Tess seems to just have had no story in this world - he just cut off all ties with friends and made no new friends. He just seemed to not have lived for the past two years, because the writers were just too lazy to figure out what he was doing for two years in this universe. I know he dropped out of the colorist job, and he stopped being a manager for Puen, but what did he do that was actual like living? I know he could have been a total jerk, but I really don't think that's what it was. I really think they just didn't have any story for him so they made up about two lines of narrative for his life in this universe to explain it [out of sheer laziness]. This series is just a mess. I knew it would end this way given its previous trajectory, but what is unusual is its high rating, and unusual number of defenders. Again, if you liked it, that's all fine and dandy. It's just objectively terrible, but I'm glad some people were employed and people were able to feed their families doing work on Vice Versa, but I hope the writer of the screenplay starves, or at least has some bad mojo for several months.

There is something about this series that is about the very best ever in the BL world. The writing is really sharp and I feel like I've been cut with a knife, ouch! This realism is just too much for the total bubblegum world of BL.

What Bew has to go through is ridiculous and is almost melodrama, but it's also real. I think you have to be like in a state of total vicarious pain for this character, while feeling total disgust for those around him. Just the relentless deception by the managers, and side characters including Yo and Kitty, as well as the ceasless pressure of the fans and media, would drive most of us crazy, and I hate to see anyone go through that, but I'm compelled to watch this. It's like when you watch Schindler's list- you know you have to see this to learn something. What I take away from it is just to be true to your acting craft, and don't get involved in all the politics of the movie business. You can see all those people are miserable, especially those managers - Yo and Kitty look pretty miserable as well. Bew is the only one who will get out of this with any chance at happiness, even if he's being tortured at the moment.

I have a feeling Gus is supposed to be one of the good guy,s as well, just by the latest developments in this episode - I find that to be a stretch but I feel they are going there. I need a little bit more explanation on this because it looked like he manipulated Bew into having sex with him to cement their relationship, but he could have been doing that because of his own interest in the relationship. I'm glad Bew is not giving in to him so easily. I would need like a ton of evidence to have faith in Gus after what he pulled, and good for Bew in not letting him off the hook. I like how Bew is not just the naive simpleton here. There is no giving in to a false moment of sweetness - that will have to be earned after a lot of suffering which I feel is the right direction to take with this series. Again, wonderful acting and directing. Just smart, effective, and incisive story-telling. Bravo!

It's good its theme is about coffee because you'll need a lot of it to stay awake watching this. The best part of the show was the development of the band, and the next best story was Janjao's move to start her own music company. The rest of this did not involve any writing and that was the BL part. It was just so milquetoast that you couldn't get beyond the lifelessness of its inspiration, but Pinky and Jean were at least alive - the other couple was dead. I think it had its sweet moments but there is nothing new here, and if you are just satisfied with a complete regurgitation of 100 other shows, but done in a washed out, sleep-inducing atmosphere this is the show for you. I'm still watching the final two episodes because I like Pinky and Jean, and wouldn't mind seeing more of them. Now don't cry that I attacked this show. I still watched all of it which I don't normally do for a show I can't stand, but there were some good scenes every once in a while so I guess it's better than some shows which have absolutely nothing good in them at all. I'm also glad that Jean finally stopped acting like a coy Victorian madame this last episode and Thitnuea was finally able to make a move on him. Jean is already talking about marriage - that seemed a little fast for this snail paced series, but I'm not complaining. Its about time something happened quickly on this show.

The only other thing I liked in this series was its mostly positive LGBTQ atmosphere, and the overall positive arc of the show. I also encourage you to just watch Coffee Melody for yourself and not pay any attention to reviews unless you have no time at all, but you should have a few minutes to watch the show and get a feel for it. Then you can reflect on the reviews you find on here afterwards.

Agree , did not knew these facts , but he always seemed to me, least trustworthy from all guys ...
Again, I have nothing against him. He's given a job to Chang Gyu, and Jeong Hyun still likes him, but I think anyone would be nervous being in a relationship with him, especially if they wanted a long-term commitment. I think you would constantly be worried that he was going to leave you. Now he could change and say he's giving up on playing the field and wants to settle down. I think you should give him a chance if he indicates he's willing to change. I wouldn't blame anyone, at that point, for still being nervous. But its wrong to think someone is irredeemable, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

So whats the nunber of relationships a person should have and who made the rule. He did not have a relationship…
It’s not a big deal. I’m just saying he leaves relationships rather quickly but he treated jh well enough. It’s just no surprise he moved on so quickly. If you want to have 20 relatioships in one year that’s up to you- it’s just probably not a good idea.
