I guess now it makes sense why the father was so awkward and cold with the older brother even though he was seemingly doing everything right. That dysfunctional marriage really screwed up the boys growing up in that household. They're sort of trauma bonded to each other. Still hoping that they stay brothers!
I still think it's unlikely that the brother was involved. He's not that much older than Yi Soo and while they've shown him as a grey character he hasn't seemed the kind of psychopath who would be involved in murder as a preteen/ early teen.
In Ep 14 too, he seemed shocked by what his mother had done, so while she comes off as an ice cold murderer, the brother not so much. Yet.
Oh you, you loony bitch. I know you will rot in hell. You had to ruin everything in Yi soo's life. I hope his…
I'm hoping that at the end the brother is going to walk away from his mother and let her pay for her crimes. He seemed to be shaken by the realisation on what she'd done to hide his true parentage and he does seem to genuinely love Yi Soo. For this week's case I can see why he supported his mother but next week I think he'll also have to think about his loyalty to his brother who he's always considered innocent in their family mess and his mother who he is realising isn't just an icy alcoholic. Fingers crossed, haha
I wonder what will happen to the company now that the father is dead
He was going to punish Seungju for covering his mother's crimes and he knows he's not his bio son. So he might have changed his will to leave everything to Yi Soo instead.
Me too, kind of tbh. I'm all for team original Chaebols, lol. We could lose the domineering mother but otherwise…
It's such a shame we haven't seen any kind of relationship between Huiju and Seungjoo so far, otherwise that could have been fun, lol. Sigh, just another plot idea that could have been more interesting than what we're going to get.
at this point, I might be team Kang Seung Joo to be the heir, at least boy is working hard for the company and…
Me too, kind of tbh. I'm all for team original Chaebols, lol. We could lose the domineering mother but otherwise I don't mind the ones left.
Tae Oh not only doesn't have power, he's also going to find himself on the outside of the Kang Oh circle. So he can't possibly follow his original plan now, surely.
This is what I got from/my theories after episode 13 (episode+preview+bonus scene):• The stepmom was unfaithful,…
After that bonus clip, surely there's no other explanation!
In smaller things, I also hope that Seung-Ju doesn't turn out to be illegitimate after all. It wouldn't necessarily change the relationship between him and Yi-Soo but let them be brothers. Also, not to make it about myself, but I don't have the bandwidth for any more illegitimacy and inheritance shenanigans at the moment.
Yall, that preview was insane hdiushdus The way Inha still keeps manipulating Taeoh in prison, HE'S COMPLETELY…
I did cackle at the nerve though, ngl. Like yes, In Ha, poor you. Your half-brother (who was an awful person, admittedly) is dead, Tae Oh could go to prison forever for that but poor you for your failed ambitions. The true victim in all of this.
Gosh this is exactly what I’m worried about. I’m afraid with only 6 eps left the writer might mess it up.…
Yes! Did you see the chairman is giving Hye Won a mission too now.
I also want Hye Won to turn out to be the biggest manipulator of the trio. I will be deeply offended if at the end she's just a bland poor girl who only wanted security in life and was willing to marry a someone for it.
Gosh this is exactly what I’m worried about. I’m afraid with only 6 eps left the writer might mess it up.…
I'd rather Tae Oh not marry Hee Ju if those are his motives, lol. She might as well marry Huichan who also wants something out of it. Even though I find Huichan deeply suspicious.
It should be interesting to see how his motives/goals change after his stay in prison. You would assume the business politics takes a back seat, no?
She's never in any of the previews which always raises questions for me if we're building up her importance in the plot just because we like her, lol.
Oh there is a brief glimpse of her at the dinner table like always. I found it interesting from an artistic point of view (and very heavy handed): Hee Ju, In Ju's widow and the second son are all wearing white and sitting on one side of the table. In Ha and Hye Won are dressed in black sitting on the other side. Chairman Versace (thank you whoever came up with that!) is the only one in colour, sitting at the head like a devil of some sort.
WHY THE HECK IS HEEJOO DEAD AT THE END OF EPISODE 6? WE’RE WATCHING THIS FOR HER I WILL LITERALLY RIOT!Update:…
Visually, that's an interesting scene: Hee Ju, In Ju's widow and the second son on one side of the table in white and Hye Won/In Ha on the other in black.
The way ppl got completely fooled by Inha, he's the superior sociopath villain hahaha
What's your read on Hye Won?
We know that there isn't really any love between her and In Ha. Do we just go along with Hee Ju's assessment that she's cunning and only loves herself? Or when it comes down to it will she choose Tae Oh over In Ha this time?
I don't know if shes supposed to come off a victim or not, because while I have no doubt that In Ha is also manipulating her she is actively making the choice to date and marry him. Is her angle literally to put herself high enough that she can escape her mother?
Nah I rather she end up single rather than choose him either. Intially in episode 3 , it was implied that he assaulted…
I wasn't opposed to it before Episodes 5/6. But I have to admit I missed the detail about his crimes. I think greedy and maybe even playboy can be worked with to some extent.
But Huichan is very shifty. Theres's a reason he approached In Ju for help- they're cut from the same cloth. I get the conversation between the two of them about murder right before Tae Oh is attacked was a red herring but I'm keeping an eye on that one.
That's my question for next week! Is Hye Won going to help Tae Oh through the murder rap even though it risks her position? I'd assumed the betrayal would be a dramatic reveal with maniacal cackling like they can be but what if its that Hye Won just doesn't show up, lol.
I feel like Inha likes her either because Tae ha likes her or because he wants her to keep away from Tae ha. As…
Honestly, they might just be building up the Tae Oh/ Hye Won thing to set up your third act tragic twist. Either Hye Won is going to emerge as the big evil (doing heinous things, lol) or she'll become a victim to the big evil. Its very unlikely this ends in them being together after all this mess.
Instead of analysing things and theorising about what drives characters, I'm thinking the way to predict where this story is going is to look at what could happen to them. The characters aren't driving the plot, but their circumstances move them along the plot.
Ive come to realise that the issue with this show is not Nye Won, it’s the producers & directors. For some reason…
I have been questioning at which point does the absolute lack of explanation of character thoughts and motivations stops being a "mystery" that they'll slowly reveal to us and just becomes poor story telling. Because I'm kind of interested in watching how these people are going to implode their lives but it's not that much of an intrigue really, lol.
I wasn't going to come on here until I'd had a chance to watch the episodes, but I couldn't help myself, lol.…
Same here, lol. I briefly considered watching one before work but decided that wasn't a good idea.
The one thing I am interested in knowing that no-one is really talking about is why meticulous planner Tae Oh suddenly decided now, 10 years later, right before the wedding is when he should make his move. Like whats the point? The 'love triangle' to this point has seemed as transactional as the 'bromance', no? I dunno, maybe I should enjoy the mess as I get it and not question motivations as much, it doesn't seem like we'll get many answers there.

Lmao, I'm thinking of waiting a couple weeks before doing a quick binge now
