So that's what happened. I was so confused about what they have planned. I agree with your points. I don't know…
1. Right? He's the chairman, he doesn't need to be plotting behind people to get stuff done. He's the one character in this shitshow who should be able to attack from the front. I never bought into the whole TaeOh is the chairman's son theory, but who knows anymore, lol.
2. Absolutely, I'm surprised that she's managed to survive to this point, lol.
3. If the point was to show a comparison between Huiju and HyeWon, not only have they failed with the writing of HyeWon's character but they've also managed to mess up Huiju. The spoilt, entitled rich girl is probably the easiest cliche to make negative but Huiju is pretty harmless and generally is a good egg- ignoring her questionable taste in men. She's not a big player in the politics and planning games, but we've not seen HyeWon do much either. I'm sure Huiju would be as successful at running the business if TaeOh was running interference behind the scenes. Not that I necessarily want that to happen either, tbh, but as a comparison. I've always thought that at some point there would be a Huiju vs HyeWon confrontation, because their animosity has to have some outlet, but given that there's only two episodes left that's probably not happening. We got it when she challenged her about TaeOh, lol.
Hopefully Huiju doesn't turn up at the hospital to visit when the fight goes down.
Have they explained yet what Tae Oh's original goal with all this was? I keep checking back because it's literally…
(I'm behind on my episodes but have been lingering here for intel too) Still no mention of TaeOh's motivations. He doesn't seem to want any of the glory himself which is also weird.
So that's what happened. I was so confused about what they have planned. I agree with your points. I don't know…
Why do they even want the company? So much sneaking around and fake business schemes but why?
The thing is, we're practically at the end and I still have the same questions I had around episode 4! I was almost hoping that there would be a twist this week but it seems like we're still wading through the same mud.
1. Why is the chairman so fond of TaeOh/HyeWon? Why is he trusting them so much? Even over his two non-psycho kids?
2. Am I supposed to sympathise with HyeWon? Because I don't. I am baffled how they can make a female lead be so meh. And its not just the acting. Are we being shown how she deserves to inherit the company? Are her trials and difficulties from InHa supposed to make us forget that she chose to marry him herself? And it wasn't for love.
3. What is the point of Huiju? Why on earth did they build up her character so much if she basically has 0 impact on the plot. They even explored her relationship with that sketchy dude who wants to marry her (I assume he wasn't back this week?) They could have written her out completely and used the time saved to build up this deep love between HyeWon and TaeOh that they want me to believe exists and root for.
So that's what happened. I was so confused about what they have planned. I agree with your points. I don't know…
Thats kind of why I find it so difficult to back the idea of him or HyeWon inheriting the company- it doesn't come off like they've earned it. Its like everything just falls in place for them. And I guess they're showing that they suffer setbacks but the way they come back from those is almost miraculous.
We're at the end now, but I still feel nothing but slight annoyance at most of these characters.
Question- have we seen HyeWon have flashbacks about TaeOh at any point? TaeOh had that flashback showing all three times he was in the same proxomity to HyeWon. I don't think InHa has had flashbacks about HyeWon which makes sense because he doesn't love her. Lately, all Huiju is doing is having sad flashbacks. But have we been shown HyeWon have any sad flashbacks?
I wonder if we would ever see Tae Ohβs stepdad again? Is he biological or step father?
I can't say if we see the stepfather at this point but it would make sense because thats where this all started from. However, I think there will be no clarity on TaeOh's biological father if that man is in fact his step dad. I don't think there's a reveal there.
Theres already enough other nonsense spread around that they have to clear up before the end, lol.
I don't have much expectations for the ending. All i want is a happy ending for Huijiu, but one thing i hope the…
Seconding good will towards Huiju.
But I'm starting to think there might not be any mystery about why TaeOh chose Kang Oh, lol. I think it was just that he ran into InHa in school. After 7/8, I think TaeOh doesn't really have any ambitions of his own at all. He relies on other people to give him purpose whether its rescuing his mother/helping InHa/saving HyeWon. This is probably why nothing came of him and Huiju- the girl wants him but she doesnt "need" him.
I hope Hyewon betrays Taeoh at this point. His character has turned into a lovesick puppy.
This will be the only vaguely interesting thing that can happen. The romance is so poorly done that there can be no way that it's the core of this story.
Now i understand, it's Hyewon who is the impossible heir
That truly is a twist we weren't expecting, lol. But especially after the director's interview that people are sharing, I wouldn't be surprised by that either.
WTF is this drama?!!! Like what??? There is only 12 episodes and nothing happened in these two episodes. Inha…
I think the lack of anything really happening just highlights how pointless this whole ordeal is. Constantly we're told that TaeOh is a genius and HyeWon is ambitious and brave. When these two characters realised that they liked each why did they not ditch InHa and go off by themselves to achieve money and power? At the start they both had careers that they had supposedly gotten on their own merits. Could TaeOh not have found another company to climb up the same way? And now they're a team of two anyway so what was the point? It doesn't seem like Kang Oh was important to either of them. So why any of this?
I actually feel sorry for the dysfunctional Chaebols, lmao. These three randos just came to throw their lives into chaos. Now one brother is dead, the second is in exile, and Huiju is just there being tragic, lol.
Maybe this drama would be more interesting if they just betray each other. Also, on a different note, I find it…
That was the show I thought I was watching tbh- them betraying each other at different turns. What we got is this insipid love story that I just don't understand.
Yeah, we have been hoping every week that they would give more context, reveal more plan and explanation, focus…
Yeah... I think I'm giving this week more to see if it starts making sense to me otherwise maybe its best to move on. Because obviously I'm not connecting to this story the way I should. And this could ultimately be a me-problem, that's fine. But from what we've seen so far I think its unlikely that I will ever understand let alone support any decision Hye Won makes.
The other question that raises then is that if we're not on the same page as the director about Hye Won we're also probably not on the same page regarding Huiju. To me personally she comes off as the one who sees everything most clearly. But if we're supppsed to root for Hye Won then we should think that Huiju is being unfair to her and she's just another rich mean girl, lol
Yeah, we have been hoping every week that they would give more context, reveal more plan and explanation, focus…
LMAO. So Hye Won and Tae Oh are star crossed lovers after all? And that's the central conflict? I thought this was supposed to be a hard boiled tale of business and betrayal not romance?
Also what big steps has Hye Won taken so far halfway through the drama? Marry for money?
Totally agree with you about Seung Joo. Heβs the only one who has capability to become an heir. He was raised…
I think if Hye Won/Tae Oh get the redemption arc that they're star-crossed lovers that will be my breaking point with the drama. I'm still watching because I really don't like to quit once I've started (and I'm curious where this actually goes).
But it would be such a cliche to make them victims when they made sober, dispassionate decisions to get to this point.
I'm hoping that at the end the brother is going to walk away from his mother and let her pay for her crimes. He…
He did help cover it, but I think it has affected how he sees her. And this time he's battling loyalties on both sides. Even the step mother acknowledges that he loves Yi Soo. I dunno maybe I just really want to see that even though they're not really brothers they stick together.
Also if he thinks he's going to inherit chairman I think he's in for a unpleasant surprise
2. Absolutely, I'm surprised that she's managed to survive to this point, lol.

If this was a different show I might have appreciated that- I hate unnecessary deaths. But I don't think I would have even cared here, lol

Looks like the chairman's time has come to an end. Oh well. We move on.
TaeOh working with the prosecuter could be interesting, maybe we'll finally be told what his angle is.
But especially after the director's interview that people are sharing, I wouldn't be surprised by that either.
