can anyone give any sort of reasoning as to why Saebyok would have secretly squirrelled them away and not told anyone even after they were discovered? like im trying to, even at a stretch, think of some sort of reasoning that could possibly have made sense to anyone involved in this project and I'd genuinely love to understand the thought process.

overall had okay hopes for this show and was willing to give the wooden acting time to thae out but they fizzled very early on in the season haha.

Maybe if he had met his lover in the years he was missing it would be as you said but exactly because they are childhood best friends known for their fall outs and immediate make ups that it makes sense. That's why (for the audience) the mom says what she does about not being there as much after the dads death and the sister sets it up with her reaction to their fight pre accident that they dont stay mad at each other long and Saebyok has been looking after him even when his mom couldn't. Hence the "if you removed Saebyok from your room the only thing left in it would be you" comment from his sister.

Also we dont yet know what the moms situation is and whether she even still has the space or time to support him whereas Saebyok is actively volunteering to do so and can support him gaining his memories back by being surrounded by spaces and things common to his actual life. I can't see why a parent would look at all that information and worry about letting him go with his partner.

Aou Booms pair pull my interest the most so far and I am trying to get my mind around the concept that Raffy likes Dean who, as of so far, has the aura of a fibrous cloth vs the guy he has actual chemistry with but yaknow. I feel like OF1 worked because the non pairs did have chemistry with eo but right now this set is very locked into their pairings ( with the exception of Sand and Dean but like we arent getting any of that so it was rude of them to tease us 😭😭😭)

What youre describing is want not need. The other scholars fully understood the predicament it was literally that one guy that would have been agrieved if they hadnt come and again she didnt need to be there specifically for him just an envoy with the gifts and note to note that she wasnt abandobing them. It's especially a want where you say she "needed" it to assuage her guilt. Your guilt isnt worth peoples lives. There isnt a hall in the palace she could have kneeled at as a temporary stop gap until they were able to go at a less deadly time? People have had to.mourn and grieve distant relatives for most of human history. Whether that be across the world from battlefields or whatever. What did they all do? This wasnt a one solution situation this was a "my solution" situafion and she kinda ignored the fact that her solution put everyone in danger.

Also note i did not say what the prince did was good, right, just or even neutral only that she's a hypocrite for not giving head to the threat she was putting their lives in in the first place.

Its just a privilege to ignore the lives you step over to live how you want then lament the lives harmed at your front as if the lives behind you dont exist.

Ah but to my understanding this is the spoiler section for the show not the book and though they are related they are two different things. Maybe it's true to the source material or maybe it's not and i might choose to read the book later.

People often specifically ask for book spoilers because they do want to know definitive things coming up and thats valid bc people will see the request for book spoilers and are able to choose whether to read on or read the responses. Just like if someone is not up to date with this they'd be able to make the choice not to read spoilers but people also like to discuss things based on what has been given in the show so far.

It's not like a massive thing or anything but just while the show is airing at least it is just kinder to either ask if someone wants future book spoilers or be vague like I suggested. Knowing you have additional information that changed your viewpoint is totally valid, knowing something is either different in the book or more info is provided in the book also completely valid it just gets more murky when you're saying a specific thing happens in this part that we haven't got to in the airing show yet and where I was not able to make the choice to ignore or avoid the info.

It seems to me he's lying because hes pushing himself more than he knows she would allow and that might kill him rather than not healing altogether because Mr Bei was there when he spoke to medic Xiang and we know Mr Bei would be worse than Wanyin if he was dying. If he rests he seems to get better but he keeps using his energy up and not resting and then trying to protect Wanyin even though shes told him to stop (the first part being explained when Mr Bei gives him the cold shoulder).

If so, as far as i can tell she is Dans grandmother (so she would be the "mother" of the former Emperor who is Dan's father). The current Empress Dowager is not Dans birth mother but the highest ranking woman (or maybe only left) in Dans fathers harem. She is "mother" to Dan as his birth mother is dead.Dan has a son from a consort who is seen with the Empress Dowager and is played by the same actor as the young Dan I think to symbolise how similar their positions are and to let the audience know this is definitely his son.

So in relation to Dan;
Tier 1)Previous Empress Dowager (grandmother)
Tier 2) Previous Emperor (father), Empress Dowager (stepmother) deceased and unseen birth mother etc
Tier 3) Dan himself and his half siblings such as Dan
Tier 4) Dan's son.

In terms of why in the novel the two consorts of Dan were going after Duan: In the og story Wanyin fell in love with Duan before she was forced to become concubine as a pawn for power for her family. She wants to be with Duan because she loves him. Yonger "transmigrated" into the character who was Wanyin's foil / who Wanyin bullied because Duan "loved" her instead of Wanyin and then Yonger fell in love with Duan trying to help him take the throne from the alleged tyrant Dan. Basically the slander campaign against Dan worked and everyone thinks he's a cruel tyrannical sex pest but thinks Duan is like the good guy so they like him and hate Dan. But obviously now they are all aware that Duan is not a good person even while Yonger doesnt trust that Dan is one.

Didnt the subtitles say that they both counter each other. He said that the old poisons are letting him heal before FL said fight poison with poison.

In fairness if you have no reason to believe you can go back and are constantly on the verge of being killed i too would focus on the staying alive part and not so much on the impossibility of how to get back. Its not like they can ask someone.

I know all of what you said. you just seemed to have miseed that FL and ML know that Yonger has transmigrated because she is a character in the novel. they already know this information and thats ehy ML keeps reminding FL that Yonger is 2d. Because she is from the current novel they are in its just that neither of them paid attention to the novel so they dont know everything about her. It has been established from the very start that Yonger is a character in the story. Shes not from another novel. She is from THIS novel written to believe she has transmigrated.
