Title How Dare You!? Spoiler
wait, why omg? theyve been saying this from the start? thats how fl and ml both knew that yong er existed.
Just to clarify, unless you mean it is specified in the original source material and they just havent revealed it in the show yet, theres no other novel. She was just written in this novel to be a transmigrator so she has memories of the modern world. She is from this same novel that they're stuck in.

No, fr. Theyve talked about this almost every other episode in various different ways so im actually confused how other people are confused. idk how those people can possibly be actually watching the show tbh. Are they like skipping all the scenes where they talk about it?

i wanna get past that and talk about if that one sexist and righteous courtier realises Er Lan is a woman. We havent heard anything about it since Yonger explained that in the original story she was outed as a woman and then SAd and killed.

(Not an ivitation to comment spoilers from the source material for people who already know through that)

is yonger a lost cause? cant really tell whose side shes really on
She's on her own side.

(As shes written to have written to be)

Tbh I have a feeling that that note was sent because she was being watched and she'll find (or has already found and we havent been shown yet) a different way to send a warning signal to these guys.

If xie yonger is a transmigrator , then how can she don't about beijing city and Fl is not at all surprised ,…
She's only a transmigrator in the novel. Chinese novels tend not to use country or city names and just say like Country A etc thats highlighting that they're not the same.

And there was no transmigrator who replied. Did you watch the end of ep 18?

Yeah he's lying to her because I think its hard to explain away his reputation when it's been him the whole time, you know. Yes he clearly isn't the tyrant and we know it but does a freshly transmigrated woman know that and trust him?

Yeah but the show makes it clear that the Empress Dowager forced the situation. I honestly feel so sorry for him.

Theyre literally not but even if they were they only have a certain amount of leeway. Just because its a nivel doesnt mean they don't have real consequences. The Empress Dowager can and will kill them if given the chance as will Prince Dean as we have literally seen. They've changed multiple plot points and continue to go against both of their characters' depictions in the novel.
On Alice in Borderland Season 3 Jan 27, 2026
I had to actually pause the TV when they spent ages trying to work out how to make the game work in the situation they were left in only to break the game rules twice with zero consequence just for the drama. I think thats an excellent summary of what this season was in the greater scheme of things.

My mind the whole time: how can Ryuji do this?? Like he was able to swim and drag Usagi while being handicapped.
The same way dude from season 2 kept on keeping on having been set fully alight and having had zero surgical attention to the burn wounds. it all works differently in the Borderland apparently.

I was more annoyed that they didn’t think about survival first. there is no future unless they survive 😭
Counterpoint, you need hope for a good future to WANT to survive. Most people hanging between life and death arent going to want to come back to life if it's guaranteed to be a bunch of unavoidable pain for them and all their loved ones. Yes, there are some things that are reasonable to expect to sacrifice, not everything is gonna be good in life, but anyone who knows the pain of having been suicidal knows there needs to feel like you have something good to struggle for.

for her father no for no reason
Except they went in with no plan to actually find or meet her dad in the afterlife and she was happy to leave without seeing her dad as she says in the final game even though nothing had actually changed from her side between her wanting to come and the final ep. Her clinging to Arisu like "dont leave me" girl YOU LEFT HIM FIRST and DIDNT EVEN DO THE THING YOU LEFT HIM TO DO. Like, it truly makes NO sense.

If someone punches someone else in the face in a show thats one thing, they might have an extensive history that explains why they led up to punching someone in the face. they might have ptsd and have been suffering from an episode that had them punching someone in the face without them realising. They might have been victims of being punched in the face so thats the only way they know how to express their feelings. That does not stop it from being a punch in the face.

The person they punched in the face may not recognise it as a punch or may forgive them for punching them in the face. That does not stop it from being a punch in the face.

If im watching a show about dark things and a punch in the face happens, we talk about why the punch in the face happened. the themes around why a punch in the face comes to be. I can consume it in fiction and love the characterisation of the punchee and the puncher and the dynamic that led to the punch and see them try to move on from the punch in different ways and I can do it safely because I know it is a punch and dont tell myself and others it isn't a punch.

Clearly I don't expect people to be punching others irl because punching is not social behaviour but its fine because this is fiction and i understand that im watching punching and I expected something similar to punching even if i wasn't expecting the punch to be so hard.

I comment about how i hate that the character is punching, it doesn't mean i expect others to stop watching the show because a punch happened and i myself am not going to stop watching the show or discussing with others the character of the puncher.

Calling a punch a punch is not in itself doing anything but calling a punch a punch.

*This comment is not about punching.*

Seeing as people cant do the due dilligence to fact check themselves before commenting here are some English definitions…
Oh he said it aloud! oh ofc sorry, the characters only ever speak the truth out loud in this show so I should have realised. By the way I'm a NIgerian Prince and I'd love to give you some money if you just send over the transaction fee to me. You know its true because I said it out loud too so dont worry if you have any concerns about the reasons why I might be saying that.

"Shulang would have fucked him up if it was rape" - you mean the guy who has no will to live and has quit his job and is just waiting to die? That guy? The guy who is struggling with his past trauma and the feelings he had for someone who he believed finally understood him (like many victims of domestic violence). That guy?

Me: talking from an understanding of how domestic violence actually showcases itself and how victims respond and behave.
You: going entirely off of vibes alone.

Have the vibes you want to have, I'm not stopping you. Enjoy the character, I'm not stopping you. But if one person who thinks like you takes the time to look into what domestic violence actually looks like in the gray space not in the black and white that *you* seem to be existing in where Welp if the person doesnt fight back and lash out then its not assault! i'll have helped make things 0.000000000000001% better than they currently are and helped one person engage with media in a more safe way where they can consume and enjoy characters and content like this for what it is and not feel the need to whitewash it.

You literally contradict yourself in your own comment. You say in a court room it would be and everyone knows what rape is and then turn around and say its not abuse but youve list a bunch of characters who did commit the crimes they would be accused of. Imma need you to pick a struggle and decide what your argument is.

Like, I literally say in my main thing that this is FICTION and its not about your reading of the show in general but acknowledging that this is rape so that outside in the real world we know that people do in fact know what rape is so that you can *safely* watch the show. Noone is watching any of those shows you mentioned arguing in comment sections that they didn't do the things they literally did. They'll discuss the motivations of the characters etc but they won't just deny their crimes like you are literally doing.

The novel and the show are two separate media entities. As you should not need to read the novel to understand the TV show the onus is on the show to get across the information in the book. In media there are actually a billion ways to get across thought processes like this. What youre now suggesting is that the actor, storyboard artists and director are bad at their job which that may be but seeing as I am talking about what the show is showing us so that people can extrapolate irl if it shows rape it gets called out as rape. If he actually enjoys it the show needs to *show* us him actually enjoying it and or participating in sex which is actually super easy to do. (Though it would still be sexual assault because he literally can't leave him no matter how hard he tries and you cannot consent without the ability to safely revoke consent).

Finally "if he was being raped he would not have enjoyed it" is a dangerous statement to make in a world where people literally blame and stigmatised themselves if they become aroused during rape. A biological reaction to stimuli does not consent make. "That's why Shulang eventually takes him back". Nope. The writer writes Shulang taking him back thats why Shulang takes him back. Plenty of fiction has people taking back their abusers it doesn't stop it being abuse. Yes maybe the character is written fine with it afterwards but it still is what it is from the perspective of the person engaging with that media which is all im asking people to do to safely engage with the show and not go out in the world with a shit understanding of what is sexual assault. If batman got with the joker it wouldnt mean that everything the joker had done was not a crime, it would just mean that he got together with the joker despite the crimes. If a DV victim, as they literally do all the time irl MULTIPLE times before they are finally able to leave(which is why I beg you to actual look up domestic violence), gets back with their abuser it doesnt mean that what that person does was not abuse and worst of all it doesnt mean that person is going to not be abused again in the future. In fact they are more likely to be.

If youre watching this as a piece of fiction and enjoying the story theres absolutely nothing wrong with this.…
Seeing as people cant do the due dilligence to fact check themselves before commenting here are some English definitions of rape from various sources:

From the Rape Crisis Centre:
This means that someone doesn't consent to sex or other sexual activity if they:

Say 'no'.
Seem unsure or upset, stay quiet, move away or don't respond.
Are asleep, unconscious, drunk, drugged or on drugs.
Are pressured, manipulated, tricked or scared into saying 'yes'.
Are too young or vulnerable to have the freedom and capacity to make that choice.

From the American Heritage dictionary

noun (1)
ˈrāp
Synonyms of rape
1
: unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against a person's will or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent because of mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception

Wikipedia (with sources from the World Health Organisation, Minnesota Journal of Law and Inequality, Oxford Essay "The Wrongness of Rape" and "The Trauma of Sexual Assault Treatment, Prevention and Practice"

Rape is a type of sexual assault involving sexual intercourse, or other forms of sexual penetration, carried out against a person without their consent. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority, or against a person who is incapable of giving valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, has an intellectual disability, or is below the legal age of consent (statutory rape).[1][2] The wrongness of the rape is not merely or, on many occasions even primarily, the violence against the body of the victim but the violence against the very person of the victim[3]. The term rape is sometimes casually used interchangeably with the term sexual assault.[4

Do you just believe that everything the characters say to one another is the truth devoid of context? Would something maybe make someone who has no control or power left in a relationship lash out and pretend they are in control? Noooo its not like FX did the same thing when he was claiming that he just wanted to pump and dump Shulang because he felt he was emotionally losing control and they are literally mirrors of each other as seen by the recordings that FXs brother takes of each of them talking hurtful bs out of their arse about each other or anything...

I beg you BEG you to look up the signs of domestic violence. For your sake I beg. Because FX literally ticks off 90%of the list. You saying this is actually jist fully wild. If someone physically cannot leave you or you will hurt people they care about and is completely still, unmoving and not participating in sex as we see in the montage. if they say no every time you try to sleep with them and even CRY when you try. if they set their boundary as the one thing they know youre not prepared to do (let him top) THEY DO NOT WANT TO HAVE SEX WITH YOU, you have coerced them. And sexual coersion is... say it with me now... Rape. Full textbook, dictionary definition, wikipedia entry, court case description Rape.

Maybe in the book it was described otherwise but every single thing we see in this show points a big red finger to this is the English language defined rape.
