Episodes 12 and 13 moved the plot a decent amount. It’s not a lot but I’m still glad A’Li was able to see who her enemy is. This might be a good opening for her to work more with Xiao Heng, which means we get to see more of Wang Xingyue. In any case, I’m glad we’re done with the school plot.

Shen Yurong’s tortured looks and longing and regret is so delicious, I live for it.

P.s. I also wasn’t fan of the extra-ness of the symbolism when they well playing. It was too much going on with the butterflies, and the flower petals, and the wind and the xianxia lol

The Qin competition in ep 11 was so good, so beautiful, so moving.

Great review. Although I am among those who were disappoint with the less action aspect of it (most particularly from Fan Xian) I will still say this season did not overall disappoint. It was just as well written and excellently acted as the first season. This is a great feat considering how many sequels fail to live up to the quality of their preceding works.

In Chinese custom a green hat is a euphemism for getting cheated on. When a man wears a green hat it means that his wife has cheated on him. So in this case since the rumor has it that Fan Xian is the emperor’s son while Fan Jian has claimed him as his son it signifies that Fan Xian’s mother cheated on Fan Jian.
