We watch/enjoy romance shows because we want to (mostly) see characters discover a mutual spark for each other, see them experience that dawning realization of " Oh my goodness, I have feelings for this person", the bliss, elation, lust etc. of a new love story and what comes with it; to watch them grow into a relationship. The "lack" of chemistry some are experiencing might stem from the fact that 1. When actors (as in the actual people) change in flashbacks especially, to denote a time span it sometimes takes us out of the story. We connect to the faces of when they are younger and those emotions created by them don't for the viewer, carry on to the older actors. 2. Showing people falling in love a second time/who already know each other MAY (if not done well) remove the excitement/tension.
This happened with me on the show First Love with Satoh Takeru. I adored the two young actors but sometimes found it hard to relate to them when they got older. I think that is what is difficult if you are making a second chance romance. You have to reignite the fire, show the audience WHY these two are trying again and the reasons why it didn't work out the first time. I think that is hard to do in a limited amount of time/episodes. They already know each other so there is no "period of discovery", which makes for a lot of the excitement in watching a romance.
I haven't finished the show but I just had this thought and wanted to share it so people are not discouraged to watch it. I also wish there was more "something" and yet am still enjoying it so, there you go. :) Give it a chance. It's not a total wash.
Great show. Would have been a 9/10 but for the few later episodes where the leads are not together too much. I enjoyed it though. JBLs. I just love the vibes.
I thought, "Yay a quick action movie to pass the night." I got, a visceral punch that reminded me how horrific some humans are and how terrible life is for other humans. I believe in rehabilitation but certain people just need to never see outside of a prison wall. Ever again.
clrly the topic is WAYYY above ur level. first i was addrssing the justice system as a WHOLE. most developed nations…
Hahaha Your resort to insults automatically nullifies anything you have to say. A polite debate is OBVIOUSLY above YOUR level.
But I have a couple spare minutes so I will humor you. Here we go.
Your exact quote: ppl saying YAI needs rehab instead of prison, i hope u say the same for rapists, murderers, domestic abusers, and pedophiles. if ur argument is there are victims, then i hope u say the same for victimless criminals like pedos who only distribute
My response:Are we equating drug addicts with pedophiles now?
I hate to break it you but distribution IS NOT victimless. THAT is exactly HOW the CSAM is spread. I mean...?!?! If it is not distributed then it's just a sick man's personal stash. The distributors even get PAID in many cases. That's like saying the drug dealer who sells the heroin is innocent. He may not be the boss in charge and wasn't in the lab when it was made but he sure as hell is responsible for the dispersion of said drugs in the neighborhood. And when it comes to putting them away he also, sure as hell, is getting charged; it may be lesser offense but his crime is not victimless.
Your well capitalized response waxes on about restorative and punitive justice. My point exactly. The punishment MUST fit the crime. That is why there are different sentences for different crimes. Apples and oranges are ALL fruit, but they are NOT the same. A crime is a crime but they are NOT the same otherwise every one who was caught would be handed down the same sentence. Also certain crimes have a higher rate of recidivism and this is taken into consideration by prosecutors etc.
You are so fired up in your vitriol and churning the comment section that you don't even seem to see how you're spinning yourself into a web. I mean this with the greatest kindness, chill out and stop name calling those who oppose your very obvious misplaced anger.
Signed, High level Intellectual Dimwit Moron who has officially given you ALL the time I ever will.
I cannot for the life of me grasp how someone is comparing him to pedophiles, murderers and rapists. An addiction to pain killers and a powerful anesthetic are the same as grooming, molesting, producing CP, hurting CHILDREN? Popping pills is now on the same level as kidnapping and trafficking kids? Are you for real? LOL Some of you really need to get off your high horses and your supremely biased judgmental thrones 'cause your lack of understanding is blatantly on display.
Yes, he broke the law and is being held accountable. It is what it is, you do the crime and all that... But in all his years of supposed drug use there has NEVER been a mention of him harming anyone else, or deliberately putting their lives in danger. If he had, trust me after this case we would ALL know. To compare his crime to the heinous acts of those who r**e, abuse children or those who take lives is beyond ludicrous and the height of insane hyperbole. Stop that. You are only on a witch hunt. In your vain attempt to vilify this man, you are actually whitewashing the seriousness of the crimes mentioned and in fact aiding in minimizing how completely horrible said crimes are. I mean WTF?!
I think it's good he is going to get this year to clean up and shape up. I hope while in detention he gets the rehab needed to try to do better when he gets out. I vacillate between saying an addict is completely responsible for their behavior and also understanding that sometimes people seek relief/comfort/solace etc. in the wrong things. If it was a liquor store/bar he visited this many times over the course of two years this would be a non story.
In the US for a long time people were locked up for smoking and possessing marijuana; the law in many states have since reversed this and decriminalized its use. With the stroke of a pen, "criminals" /persona non grata went from being persecuted "drug users" to everyday Joes. People from housewives to office professionals abuse legally prescribed drugs every single day. I am not saying it is right but those out here maligning this man need to chill out. Not everyone, in fact NO ONE is a saint. His vice might not be yours but the heavy criticism is uncalled for. Instead, hope that he can find his way back and become a mentor or spokesman to others about addiction. I hope he finds the strength to conquer his demons and I hope you judges find your humanity and compassion.
I just binged all the three series and I have to say, I'm so impressed. Many of us will never know the pain of loving someone and them choosing another person to spend their life with because society says your love is wrong. Some of us will never know what it's like to have to live a life hiding who we truly are and never being with who we love in order to seem "ordinary".
The pain in Ji Woon's face during that table conversation killed me and my heart broke for the many who find themselves in this situation. This for me was the best of the three.
Will be watching everything SUKFILMS produces moving forward. Trying to degoogle but for them I will make an exception. :)
Bravo to everyone involved in these shows. Short, painful, lustful, sweet and such a murky grey. I love it.
3 times? I did at least 30+ lolAt mark 32:35..β¦ Empty space to fight for the 2 only, no more horseAt mark 33:10β¦…
Oh yeah for sure. I realized that early on in this show. So many editorial errors, far fetched battle scenes, discrepancies etc. but I'm refusing to let them take me out of the story lol I pretend I don't see them.
Two arrows to the chest but I'm just fine...Doo bee doo bee doo... multiple stab wounds, bleeding profusely but I don't pass out while Mom has major monologue...doo bee doo bee doo... secret assassins supposed to be top of their game being taken out like toddlers...doo bee doo bee doo... and on and on we go hahah
Still, it's been an enjoyable show. :) Almost done and I've heard the ending is "hmmmm".
Why we watch dramas: Episode 41 minute 29:00 +... Wow that scene and a few before were fantastic, rousing and incredibly moving. Badass Female lead. I hit rewind three times to rewatch that entrance.
Engrossed. That is what I am with this drama. I enjoy all genres but to be this deeply immersed and involved while ALSO laughing my ass off? Not too often. This show is AMAZING. The cast is absolutely stellar, each and every one of them. I love these men and I am glad I get to spend a few hours with them every night.
It has a few thrills and laughs. Pretty basic survival movie though to be honest. 7.0/7.5 movie but an 8.5 score for me as a posthumous honor to my darling Lee Sun Kyun. I actually teared up at his first scene, he is surely missed. π
I very rarely cry while watching dramas, the melodrama usually is so overwrought it becomes numbing so it ends up not really moving me to tears BUT...GODDDDAMMMMNNNNNIT episode 24. The cruelty on display was something else, almost unparalleled in regards to cdramas I have watched... albeit I am wayyy behind others but quickly making up ground. I am sniffling and sobbing in disbelief at 9 am after staying up all night to watch. WOW. Kill ALL of them assholes you know who. Wretched humans.
Does Lu Si and Yu Ning have the same amount of time on screen as the other 2 leads? Because I donβt like Dilireba…
This is exactly why I haven't watched this drama. I don't generally care about who is starring in a show (of course I have a few favorites) but I will watch anyone if the plot, premise etc are good. There are a couple shows I want to watch for the story but I see her starring, and I just can't press play. I don't know what it is, I couldn't finish You Are My Glory for that reason. It's "weird".
I just got done with Goodbye My Princess, yeah, IYKYK, so I needed something light and not over dramatic and full of angst, pain etc. . First episode and I'm dyyying. LOL This girl is something else. What a ding dong but so plucky at the same time. The last 20 or so minutes of the first episode had me in stitches. I hope they keep up the comedy 'cause I sure need it. It's way way early in the game but I think this might be a winner for me if it keeps this energy.
I just got done with Good Bye My Princess. yes, I'm a confused, angry mess working on my review, so you can understand why I went searching for "trashy, deliberately OTT garbage to ease my pain". I found this show in my search and I must say it's pretty entertaining and interesting with decent production and a hot ML. Albeit some of the events are (ahem *cough cough*) a bit RUN GIRL RUN!, it's way better than what I expected going in. Sometimes you want a Porterhouse steak, and sometimes a loaded, greasy ass burger does the trick. ;)
The book is so badass and gory and dark and painful and horny and amazing and thrilling and so full of red flags and Mo Ran and Chu Wan Ning and dumplings and lord I can't wait and honestly it should have somehow been made by Taiwan so we can get ALLLL the goodness.
But at this point, a censored bromance will do. PLEASE. PLEASE!!!! PLEEEEEEAAAASSSEEE!!! For the love of all things shizun, air this show already.
Ahh thanks for the reply! I loved the book, Shui Qiang Cheng writes such scum gongs lol. I will definitely start watching this after completing all the my other shows. My currently watching and on hold are getting out of hand.
