I think they simply didn't want to spend too much time developing that aspect of the story (or at all) so her seemingly limitless knowledge of practically everything serves more as a plot device than something believable, and in the end they might insert some other explanation later on, who knows 🤷🏼‍♀️. More than her knowledge, I am more weirded out by her generally impeccable noble demeanor, but then again, looking at the story as a whole, it is not really an ode to realism 😅

Nothing is better than giving it a try I am doing the same right now, and I will see if it captivates me in the first few episodes before I decide. I am halfway through the first episode and still have no opinion 😅😅😅

sure, you claimed that I am devoted to JY, want to portray Pio as the bad guy for “future satisfaction”, anticipate some upcoming evil arc, attribute Pio’s 9year career to JY’s notes and only acknowledge Pio’s violence. I said none of those things. I’m still on episode six, so I genuinely have no idea what “future satisfaction” or upcoming arc you are referring to, unless something happens in episodes seven and eight.I explicitly said that Pio’s career cannot be attributed solely to the notes and that both characters hurt each other and resorted to punches, but that you can't dismiss the rock part. Your replies treat any criticism of Pio as automatic support for JY, which is a black and white interpretation I don’t share. Pio is actually the more layered and interesting character to me (and is the character i like). JY is not written consistently enough for someone with his background, so there is simply more to analyse about Pio. Analysing a character’s flaws is not the same as condemning him. It reminds me of football discussions where saying anything critical about Messi automatically makes you a Ronaldo fan, or vice versa. You’re responding to opinions I never expressed and assigning me motives based on other people’s comments (i want Pio to be bad, liking JY, some blow arc whatever that is, etc). If we can’t discuss what each of us has actually said and I’m expected to answer for everyone else’s opinions then what is the point of this discussion?

My take is that he is obviously faking it, and he spent years establishing himself so he could discover who wanted him dead and unmask them before they try to off him again. as well until now, or at least until where i watched (halfway through episode 7), we still do not know who their father or fathers are.I hope they will not cram everything into the last 10 minutes of the last episode

Please reread what I actually wrote because this response is wildly disproportionate and answers several things I never said, it feels like you collected your frustration from other comments and then unloaded all of it onto me, ironically in the same way Pio unloaded all his issues onto JY 😉 And congratulations on your college IQ achievement! it is very impressive

He is an amazing pianist who was psychologically abused by his family from the day he was born and that abuse led to his impostor syndrome and self loathing. I completely agree that his talent and 9year career cannot be attributed just to JY’s notes, but those notes gave him confidence (and a way to connect to his own music), alongside the aftermath of their fight and the realisation that, despite everything, JY still cared about him both as a person and as a pianist even after he behaved at his lowest. The only thing I disagree with is the claim that he never hurt his friend. They hurt each other emotionally many times, and both resorted to punches, but Pio also attempted to hit JY in the head with a rock. If JY had not dodged and defended himself, Pio could have seriously injured or even killed him. Pio seemed dissociated to some extent in that moment, but that does not mean it did not happen. If anything, it shows just how profoundly the abuse damaged him and how dangerous he could become during a psychological breakdown. this does not make him an untalented pianist or a horrible person, it just shows that his trauma has consequences for the people around him too

No, it doesn't change the story per se, I am noting it for how the story is presented to the public. If you tell me you have three main characters in the cast, I expect the third character to be developed too (at least more than secondary characters) and not used like some kind of narrative insurance policy. I mean isn't it better if we have well developed characters in what is supposed to be main cast? 😕

Shouldn’t Jang Gyu-ri be listed as a supporting role rather than FL? I genuinely can’t remember the last time I saw an FL who was so two dimensional and almost non existent. Even her storyline at the beginning seemed to exist only to introduce the two MLs, which would be perfectly fine for a supporting character, but she is listed as a main character, even though she has no real passion or ambition or personality outside her obsessive martyrdom for ML, she feels more like a narrative device than an actual character. As well if she is considered a main character, why isn’t ML’s mother one? She is more developed and has her own personality and we see her more often, I’m also fairly certain we will eventually get more of her background story. Whether we like her or not, she already feels much more like a complete character than FL does 🤷🏼‍♀️

What about psycho mothers in dramas who are given some excuses for why they are like that and get forgiven at the end 99% of the time? 😅
