I’m only on episode 6, so my opinion may change, but does anyone else find Pi-o deeply selfcentred? Even his suffering and his nine year search for Jeong-yo seem to be primarily about himself rather than concern for Jeong-yo as a person. Yes, Pi-o is clearly self-sabotaging, he grew up desperately craving praise and validation that he never received from his family and his low selfesteem and impostor syndrome are destroying him from within and I understand where his behaviour comes from, but understanding it does not change the fact that everything still revolves around him(his guilt, his inadequacy, his need for validation and what Jeong-yo’s disappearance did to him). Very little of it seems to be about Jeong-yo himself, we see pi-o giving interviews about his success yet he never publicly acknowledges Jeong-yo’s contribution (not even the notes and guidance that helped him perform so well), and he doesnt seem to use those opportunities to celebrate Jeong-yo as a pianist and ensure that people remember him. His visions of Jeong-yo are also rooted mainly in guilt and impostor syndrome, because Pi-o fears the legitimacy of his success. Looking back I think the same pattern was already present when they were teenagers, Pi-o could care about Jeong-yo and help him as long as doing so did not threaten his own fragile sense of worth. The moment Jeong-yo’s talent touched Pi-o’s deepest insecurities Jeong-yo stopped being a person with his own suffering and became either a rival or the cause of everything going wrong. Pi-o could make space for Jeong-yo only when Jeong-yo’s existence was not hurting his ego. Pi-o’s suffering is of course real but suffering does not automatically make someone selfless. At this point, it feels as though he has spent nine years searching less for the real Jeong-yo than for the person who could relieve his guilt or validate his talent or finally settle the question of whether his success truly belongs to him. Even his longing feels centred on what Jeong-yo’s disappearance did to him and I do find that fascinating psychologically, but it also makes Pi-o far less sympathetic to me than the drama intends

I am living my delusional life in which she will have time away from his household and she will leave with her adoptive parents 😅🤣

I have mixed feelings about episode 18, it felt flat to me, specifically the sibling part but after seeing the preview of episode 19, I am excited and full of hope for a possible arc of the FL as a free woman away from the household, perhaps meeting the ML later when she is not his subordinate/slave/maid. I am hoping she will manage to get away and have some freedom, but to be honest, I am not sure if that will happen 😅

I like that he is not present, I wish there were more of her life before she got into his household 😕

I promised myself I would wait until it was halfway through, but then I realised it had more than 40 episodes and I gave in yesterday 😅 my resolve is generally weak😶

I don't like the ml overall (for now, but we haven't seen enough of him, so I might change my mind), but not because of his wife, as he isn't doing anything wrong there, and in the end, he is even open to divorce.considering the time period, he is quite calm in the situation he is in, but I still just don't like him or find the character interesting

The first engagement was arranged too and they never met (as far as I can tell), and the second engagement/marriage was again arranged to save the family. Regardless, he didn't have any say in any of the engagements and he seemed quite happy with his marriage until he got to know her. His family didn't let the Shen family know about the Emperor's order, but from what we saw, the grandfather seemed to know already when they arrived to sentence them, he was expecting them 😕 so if that is true I find the grandfather the most ruthless

I dont feel bad either for her. I think people should understand that knowing why someone became the way they are doesnt mean excusing their behaviour, you can understand what happened to them and even feel sorry for the circumstances, while still thinking what they did was despicable.People dont become who they are out of nowhere even a killer is shaped by something. We can hate the circumstances that created that person and still condemn them for what they chose to do. she might have been a tragic figure until the moment she started hurting others

I think it also had more to do with the fact that they wanted to make it clear that the ML never consummated the marriage and that he is still pure, just like the FL and blah blah blah typical cliche. as for his wife, she is a piece of 💩, just like his mother, because they walk over the corpses of people they see as less than objects. Loan sharking and theft are actually the most innocent things his wife does😅 but I wouldn't mind if wife goes crazy and 💀 his obnoxious family 🤣

ML hated and being denied s*x with sad music in the background 😅 it made me laugh

I didn't go further than the episode one intro AI sequence (didn't even finish it) 😅 but reading reviews, I feel I dodged a bullet 😬

The brother is the kind of character I enjoy in his eccentricity. I wish he was one of the main cast, just as a character, not a romantic interest, because he is much older, but he is cast as a guest role so 🥲

Let's hope they will not go that route because it is too much of a cliché and boring 🥲

Maybe Seori is her reincarnation, and she will just get her memories of this life back. Hopefully. And of course, without losing the ones of who she was in the past life. I don't know, that feels like the best outcome considering Seori was just filming a scene when "she arrived," so not like in transmigration novels where the person is 💀 and their soul is gone, etc
