Title In the Name of Blossom Spoiler

Yes, it does feel like it doesn't belong to this show. I mean, okay, there was a misunderstanding, but I was expecting it to be written better (the start of it, i mean). The sister's actions ALWAYS made sense in her character buildup. But the brother, while less developed, still had a clear base: a timid, guilt-ridden young man/boy who couldn’t protect the person he loved most, his sister. So for him to suddenly turn bold, confrontational, and start provoking someone like Jiang Changyang, without any internal buildup or shift, just doesn’t hold up 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ I wish that once Mu Dan discovers the truth, she will slap some character development into him 🤭

I wonder why people keep echoing that “misunderstanding” trend get pissed here and then give up. Well, if…
Their misunderstanding honestly makes total sense to me. We're talking about two people who were literally placing a bet on who would stay unmarried the longest, they've always kept their relationship in that playful, competitive, emotionally safe zone. And beyond being clever and perceptive in most areas, when it comes to romantic feelings, especially ones that go beyond friendship or sibling-like affection, they’re both incredibly insecure. It’s easier for them to assume the other person could never feel the same than to risk being wrong. They’d rather keep the status quo than put their hearts on the line, that's the 2 characters they showed us so far so I totally understand their misunderstanding

So, that's how she findIf he tell by himself she may hurt less
Now they should surprise us and not make her get angry at him like they always do in dramas. I think that only in Blossoms in Adversity I saw a FL not blaming the ML for lying but understanding why he did it. I know we are not getting it here, but that would be such a plot twist 😅🤣

Surprisingly today's episode has good subtitles
Good to know. I don't want to wait for Viki. MangoTV, here I come! 😅🤣

Title In the Name of Blossom Spoiler
I need to rant a bit so I'll put it under spoiler to not take over the comment section
I had high expectations for the friend’s brother character and I was hoping he will show up eventually after his sister died (can’t even remember his name now), but… no. Complete letdown. At least with the sister, we got a psychologically coherent arc,her crushed self-esteem built over years of emotional abuse made her actions tragically understandable. She was shattered, reduced to pieces, and it showed. Someone that broken would’ve needed serious mental help, help that simply didn’t exist in that era. But the brother? His character feels like nothing more than a plot device. He’s there to create drama for the leads, to stir things up, delay their relationship, and make them suffer just enough to “realise their feelings.” That’s it. And it’s frustrating because they could’ve given him ten minutes of proper character development and made him compelling. Instead, all we get is a boy crushed under the weight of his family, helpless to protect the sister he adored, and now suddenly he's pulling reckless stunts against someone as powerful as Jiang Changyang? It makes no sense. Where did this sudden burst of courage and self-worth even come from? He couldn’t stand up to anyone in his family for the sister he loved, but now we’re expected to believe he’s going after a powerful man with childish tricks… for a woman he barely knows and has some vague crush or projection on? it’s narrative convenience. One could argue he’s doing it out of guilt, trying to make up for not saving his sister. But even that doesn’t track, because he’s not doing it to save Mu Dan from anything, just becausehe wants he for himself (presumably). There’s no coherent arc here. He exists solely to create obstacles between Mu Dan and JC, so they don’t get together too soon. And that’s honestly the first thing I haven’t liked in this drama. I can understand Mu Dan and JC’s misunderstandings, they’re both smart and know each other well, but when it comes to feelings, they’re painfully insecure. After being friends for so long, they both assume the other could never possibly fall in love. That tension makes sense. This random brother-turned-love-complication? Not so much 🥲😅 end of the rant 🤣

No,it' s her choice. You see that, mudan situation was worse then her.Bt she never give up & never do evil. Princess's…
I think she was actually younger than Mu Dan when Prince Ning forced her to break up with the man she loved and marry someone else. Yes, she was obviously spoiled, classist, and the classic product of privilege but she was also incredibly sheltered. She didn’t have the emotional tools to process how the same father who always treated her like a precious treasure could suddenly rip away her happiness and throw her into a political marriage. So she reacted in the only way she knew would get results: by being cruel, just like him. Honestly, if she had been allowed to marry the 2ML she loved, I think she would’ve become a better person and he would have too. His family wouldn’t have been pushed out of the capital, and things might’ve unfolded very differently. Would they have been good people overall? No. They’d still be firmly on Prince Ning’s side, for obvious reasons. But they wouldn’t have turned out nearly as bitter or broken.Does that excuse what she does? Absolutely not. Plenty of people suffer under pressure without turning cruel. She chose to mirror the very power that crushed her, and in doing so, became just as ruthless 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’ve got such a long workday today, and I still have to take my dog out so I’ll just save all the episodes and binge them tomorrow along with the new ones. Tonight, I’m keeping it simple and sticking to the two new episodes of In the Name of the Blossom 😅 No time (or patience) for standalone filler episodes tonight

wow today's comments aren't looking good, i haven't even watched the episodes yet and i feel unmotivated 🤣…
I only watched half an episode before dragging myself to work, and now after reading the comments I’m genuinely terrified to hit play again 😫 I liked the sister but it seems she got infected with plot driven idiocy just to keep the main storyline from the script limping along. At this point, I’m begging the side characters to wake up and revolt. Change your destinies! Rebel against the sacred plot points 🥲🥲🥲

Hi ladies, sorry, I was just out catching some bandits and gutting them (currently wiping blood off my hands). Thought I’d swing by and say hi real quick 🤣🤣🤣

We’ve reached a whole new level of Nan Heng slander no woman wants to marry him, he’s treated like some cursed object to avoid at all costs 😅😅😇 Not that he cares, obviously… but still, the social rejection is almost impressive at this point 😂

Btw besides of discussing about characters Can you guys tell me your fav ost of this drama 🎵
The moment I hear Liu Yuning, I’m gone. Instant weakness 😅 But I have to say, I tend to prefer his ballads, so “Paper Person” is the one I like just a bit more 😊

Bambi Zhuu hats off to you making me hate your character just with two episodes 😭
No worries, you will like her real personality 😉
On A Dream within a Dream Jul 3, 2025
Do you think that all the characters in the script world have their own agency and personality until the main storyline "calls them in"? Like, they're free to be themselves in the background but the moment a key plot event is triggered, they're forced to behave exactly as the script dictates, even against their will or personalities. We see this with the leads in big moments: Nan Heng having to save her, the forced kiss, the FL saying things she clearly doesn’t want to all because those are “scripted turning points.” For instance, the sister feels so different from how she was portrayed in the original storyline, where she was basically just a plot device. Her current personality doesn’t even match her role in the original script, which makes me wonder if this shift is happening because the scriptwriter is changing the story (per manager’s requests to center the ML more)? Or are these subtle changes actually happening because of the FL and her actions inside the script? maybe in the original version, the LS persona existed but wasn’t that important but because of her resistance and choices, she unintentionally made that alter ego more central to the plot. So is the script reacting to her, reshaping itself in response? Or is it still being rewritten from the outside? what do you think?

Title The Princess's Gambit Spoiler
I’ve decided I’m going to skip tomorrow’s episodes. They just look horrible. Except maybe the divorce whatever…
I’m three episodes behind on this one too. It just doesn’t have that one thing to pull me in and make me obsessed. It could be anything, an intriguing political plot, well choreographed fight scenes, stunning cinematography, unique costumes… literally any standout element. But everything here feels kind of okay-ish. It also doesn’t help that I was more emotionally invested in the Meng siblings, and now half of that interest died with the brother. Maybe I’ll end up liking it more later on( I’m still open to that) but I think part of the problem is that I’m watching it alongside other dramas I’m way more into. I kind of wish I’d watched this one separately so I could enjoy it on its own terms

I’m starting to think the ML’s manager was very committed to making sure all the spotlight went to him because…
They definitely painted her as someone carefree, lazy, and emotionally detached not just inside the script world, but even in her real life. She comes across as one of those people who just go with the flow, avoiding involvement or responsibility whenever possible. But what’s ironic is that, once thrown into the script reality, she actually ends up having to work way harder than she ever did in her real life. She has to think, scheme, survive, and constantly react to things beyond her control so despite her attitude, she’s now being pushed into a much more demanding role. I just want the show to give her some space for a more serious character build up

Same. If she instantly changed in the drama it would only be a short drama. There are 40 episodes (1800 minutes)…
Totally get your point, and I agree that there is some development for her! 😊 But what I meant is that her growth feels like it’s lagging behind the ML’s. While she’s still mostly playing the comedic role, he’s been given way more dramatic weight and emotional complexity. To me, it feels like an uneven treatment
