That is it exactly! If he loves BL work then more power to him, that's his choice, but I am seriously hoping that at least opportunities for other types of roles are coming his way. I just don't want to see him typecast.

I think it's the suits doing it to him. When he's in casual dress, he's not stiff (end ep 2, beg ep 3) and all of Why R U. Zee's a good actor as far as I can tell by the limited work he's produced, but he does seem stuffy in those suits. Gorgeous, but stuffy in a godfather kinda way. Which is weird.
I hope Zee follows Saint's lead then. I'd like to see Zee in a wider genre of dramas than just BL since I know he's got the acting chops for it. Love Saint and hope his experiences in the biz improve.
3 episodes in and my primary issue is that the ML is sexually out of the closet and accepted by everybody so . . . the writers decided to put him in another closet regarding his personality and hobbies? That's just weird. Why would they trade one closet for another? I'll keep watching for Zee . . . probably.
This movie is still one of my favorite Japanese films. I'm blown away by it every time I watch. It won't be for everyone, but the themes are so important, I just have to love it, even when it rips out my heart and tramples on it.

I watch a lot of classic movies anyway, so I don't mind when dramas get a little dated. This one is still my favorite, sharing the top spot with Buzzer Beat. ☺
Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge back in 2012. I had read the manga, wasn't impressed by the anime, and found out quite by accident that there was such a thing as live-action Japanese entertainment and they'd made a drama series. I had no idea that was a thing. So I watched it and fell simultaneously in love with the series, the idea of live-action dramas, and with Kazuya Kamenashi. One of the best moments of my life. ❤
I've never seen any of these dramas but loved your article anyway! Your lessons learned section was so helpful. I'm learned the awesomeness of skipping. It's the only reason why I love Why R U, because I only watch Fighter and Tutor since everything else annoyed me.
As for dramas I should have dropped, Itazura na Kiss. I kept hoping that I would get out of it what everyone else seemed to but it just never happened and while I did finish it, I was miserable all the way up until the end. I should have probably also dropped From 5 to 9 with Yamapi. I love him which was the only reason I kept watching, but it really wasn't enough of a reason.
Usually the eternal hope that a drama will get better keeps me from dropping it. I drop dramas if the tropes get to be too much, like a toxic parent or an undercutting second lead. If they only have minor screen time, I can usually stand it, but if there're always there creating problems, that drama is now usually gone.
Oh boy this is gonna be long… So basically all of them are toxic in some way, so you just gotta pick your poison.…
Yeah, he's so fun with Yamapi. They make me so happy! I like KAT-TUN's music a lot, but really love his film work. I think I've I've seen at least 11 of his dramas/movies, but that's still not all of them.
Oh my goodness, I'm so seriously enjoying this drama! I love Akin so much! I'm on the fence about the actress playing Nisa, but her chemistry with the ML is good and I feel like he helps carry her.
I know there's apparently a plot twist at the end? Oh well! I'll keep watching until the end and we'll see what I think then. But I'm on episode 8 and Akin is just so darn awesome!

It sounds possibly less silly than the Japanese version? I can handle silly, but sometimes it doesn't fit as well and the Thai version sounds like it has a bit more meat to it. Thanks again!

And I wouldn't expect a public service announcement. Lessons are usually learned just based on what we see as bad behavior based on our own personal moral compass, not necessarily anything a character says or does to tell us that what they're doing is bad. If that makes sense.
It sounds like there are consequences for his actions, so that's another nudge in its favor. I may not have been in the right head space when I watched the Japanese version, and I dropped it, so that might have had an affect too.
